Sorry, I forgot to provide more information. I agree. I couldn't
even reboot the machine (the reboot itself froze). I had to switch
it off and on with the power button.

I can't reproduce the problem. But when it occurred, it was after
a session where I burnt a DVD (this was the first time with this
kernel). I don't know whether this is related. But I may try again
in a few days.
