Bug#779736: dhelp: The requested URL /doc/HTML/index.html was not found on this server

2016-04-09 Thread Ritesh Raj Sarraf
Package: dhelp
Version: 0.6.21+nmu6
Followup-For: Bug #779736

When running dhelp in offline mode, it opens up a browser with
appropriate file:/// URL path. But the listed "man pages" link seems to
be incorrect. The link it refers to is not usable in offline mode.

file:///cgi-bin/man/man2html

Are manpages expected to be accessible in dhelp in offline mode ?

There are also some broken links, which are broken in offline mode only.

Georgios,

Tagging it moreinfo. If the error persists after enabling
the /doc alias please report; else no action is required

enabling the /doc alias the error disappeared, hence no
action is required, but I'd like to thank you

Bug#779736: dhelp: The requested URL /doc/HTML/index.html was not found on this server

2015-06-09 Thread Georgios Zarkadas
Hi Giacomo,

The apache browser does not enable anymore the /doc alias by default.
This is a change made as a response to the CVE-2012-0216 vulnerability
report. As a consequence, dhelp does not enable it either during its
installation, since that may create a security hole depending on the
system's configuration and usage patterns.

Thus, it has to be manually configured by the system administrator.
This is stated in detail both in /usr/share/doc/dhelp/README.Debian.gz
and in /etc/apache2/conf-available/dhelp.conf (the dhelp's apache2
configuration file).

In order for this to happen, the relevant Alias ... line(s) in the dhelp's
configuration file must be uncommented, the configuration must be enabled
with a2enconf and the web server instructed to reload its configuration.

If the above steps were not performed, then this is not a bug; it is
the intended behaviour. Only if the above steps were performed, and the
command still did not work it would be a bug.

Tagging it moreinfo. If the error persists after enabling the /doc alias
please report; else no action is required, and I will close this bug at
the next release of the package.

Cheers,
George

2015-03-04 Thread giacomo boffi
Package: dhelp
Version: 0.6.21+nmu6
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

when I start dhelp from the command line

$ dhelp

a new tab is opened in the default browser and I'm shown the
following message

 Not Found

The requested URL /doc/HTML/index.html was not found on this server.

Apache/2.4.10 (Debian) Server at localhost Port 80

This behaviour renders the dhelp package unusable for me.

Thank you in advance,
 gb
