 Dear Maintainer,
I was purging packagekit and it still left some things. See

 Removing packagekit (1.0.1-2) ...
 D01: ensure_diversions: same, skipping
 D01: removal_bulk package packagekit:amd64
 D01: ensure_diversions: same, skipping
 D01: removal_bulk cleaning info directory
 D01: removal_bulk purging? foundpostrm=1
Purging configuration files for packagekit (1.0.1-2) ...
 D01: ensure_diversions: same, skipping
dpkg: warning: while removing packagekit, directory '/etc/PackageKit'
 not empty so not removed
D01: removal_bulk purge done, removing list
 '/var/lib/dpkg/info/packagekit.list'
D01: removal_bulk purge done, removing postrm
 '/var/lib/dpkg/info/packagekit.postrm'
 D01: removal done

I had to manually remove the contents within /etc/Packagekit.

Do you know which files were left there? I can't reproduce this, so I
assume something else has placed additional files there, or maybe a
configuration backup file of dpkg was left there.
 Cheers,
 Matthias

Dear Matthias,
Glad you could take some time off and reply so soon. Also glad that I
didn't delete it yesterday otherwise wouldn't have been able to supply
the information requested.

Here are the files which remain when purging Packagekit

[/etc/PackageKit]
└─[$]ll -h
total 8.0K
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 706 Dec 9 00:23 PackageKit.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.9K Dec 9 00:23 Vendor.conf

I *think* these are both from Packagekit and not anywhere else as both
the configuration files have commented .conf's except this line

MimeUrl=http://wiki.debian.org/PackageKit/ItemNotFound#Missing_MIME_Support

but this again seems to be from Packagekit itself (not anything that I
have manually inserted therein.)

Looking forward to know more.

Don't know if this is an oversight or a feature ? It would be nice if
all the events and transactions are moved to apt in case packagekit is
purged.
