The bug is definitely still there. So from my point of view the two remaining possibilities are, that the LTS-team provides fixed packages , when Jessie became oldstable and/or somebody who can, packports the stable GNOME3-version from Stretch to oldstable Jessie. Great if you know, how to fix this particular issue, but Debian wants to see patches, don't they? Greetings A. P.S: Probably people can work around this particular issue with gconf anyway, or by simply re-using their old home-partitions, but I have e few similar minor bugs, that nobody touches.
