Bug#784578: xbmc: Can't play DVDs from nfs or samba shares
Package: kodi Version: 16.0+dfsg1-1 Followup-For: Bug #784578 Hi, It appears that this bug (or similar) is now affecting all DVD playback in Kodi 16. The following fails: 1) playback from physical DVD disc 2) playback from ISO file on local filesystem 3) playback from SMB share via add video source within Kodi 4) playback from SMB share mounted via /etc/fstab Upon attempting to play DVDs via any of the methods above, the GUI simply appears as "Working...", and the DVDPlayer thread uses 100% CPU on one core. The GUI becomes unresponsive, and must be killed by sending SIGKILL. I've attached the relevant bits from the Kodi debug log. Bug#784578: xbmc: Can't play DVDs from nfs or samba shares
Control: tags -1 confirmed upstream Control: forwarded -1 http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=207088=2196885#pid2196885 Hi, On Tue, 23 Jun 2015 10:53:41 +0200 Christa Brinkmannwrote: > Confirm issue: > > Playing ISO DVD on SMB share does not work, while the same ISO on local > storage plays find. Fixing the issue for system's libdvdread, too, seems to require changes to libdvdread's API and Kodi as well. In the meantime please mount the NFS and Samba shares in fstab which makes opening the DVD-s working like opening them from the local filesystem. Cheers, Balint
Bug#784578: xbmc: Can't play DVDs from nfs or samba shares
Confirm issue: Playing ISO DVD on SMB share does not work, while the same ISO on local storage plays find. Error in log is always dvdnav related. Seems to be an old, solved issue: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=157925 Regards, Christa
Bug#784578: xbmc: Can't play DVDs from nfs or samba shares
Package: xbmc Version: 2:13.2+dfsg1-4 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? Trying to play a DVD from nfs or samba share, either as a .iso file or as VIDEO_TS folder. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? When the DVD files are in a local disk it works correctly. I've also tried recompiling the jessie's package using xbmc's own copy of libdvdread instead of the system library. * What was the outcome of this action? When trying the recompiled version, it hang inside a dlopen while searching for libdvdcss2, even after I uninstalled it. When commented out the dlopen of libdvdcss, it worked as expected. * What outcome did you expect instead? That playing DVDs from remote servers will work.
