Bug#792582: simple-scan: With HP network connected MFC simple-scan gives model as scanner name

2015-07-16 Thread John Hughes
Package: simple-scan
Version: 3.16.1.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I have two HP MFC devices

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I tried to pick the scanner I wanted from the simple-scan preferences

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Since the to MFCs are the same model simple-scan gives them the same name,
I can't tell which is which and they are not in the same office.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Some way of telling which MFC is which, perhaps based on the cups description
or location

Here are my two scanners:

$ scanimage -L
device `hpaio:/net/HP_Color_LaserJet_MFP_M476dw?ip=' is a
Hewlett-Packard HP_Color_LaserJet_MFP_M476dw all-in-one
device `hpaio:/net/HP_Color_LaserJet_MFP_M476dw?ip=yy' is a
Hewlett-Packard HP_Color_LaserJet_MFP_M476dw all-in-one

simple-scan shows them both as HP_Color_LaserJet_MFP_M476dw.

gscan2pdf at least shows me the ip=xx part.

But what would be nicest is if I could see the cups description or location
information.
