I filed this bug four years ago and this is the first I'm hearing from it. And you say I'm filing it too late. And the problem still exists. This is hopeless. I noticed after that that my scanner stalls for 10 seconds (measured) before lauching the scan, whereas it was 1 second before the upgrade. (Canon CanoScan 9000F Mark II) I routinely scan dozens of pages so the delay really bites. It's now faster for me to launch Windows in a VirtualBox and scan from there... My test line is: scanimage --mode Gray --resolution 150 > a.pnm If there is a workaround, I'd love to try it!
