You must not. But it is nice if you do it.
Why? sane-backends 1.0.25-2 from testing has a better USB support.

And if the 1.0.25-2 is working for you, then I ask for a BPO.

Hello Piccoro,

thank you for spending your time helping to make Debian better with
this bug report.

Some questions:

- Is the bug reproducible?
- Do you have run memtest? With what result?
- Why have you recomplie sane-backends? In what environment
  and with which changes?

And please test sane-backends from stretch and from experimental.

Bug#812344: simple-scan: segfault using Canon Lite 100 with simple-scan

2016-01-22 Thread PICCORO McKAY Lenz
Package: simple-scan
Version: 3.14.0-1
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream
Justification: renders package unusable

scaning with simple-scan got a message like "cannot retrieve image" or
"no valid scanner"
and then the program got to choose the scanner

in second try the program never start to scan and exit, in console
this its the dmesg output:

NOTE: in venenux or squeeze i recompile the sane and never got this
problem, only in wheeze and jeesie!

NOTE2: xsane works perfectly in wheeze and jeesie an dnever git this problem!

NOTE3: theres a reset of the port in "589572.965269" that maybe could
be a port usb problem: NO! xsane works well! and in same machine
venenux works well!

root@massenkoh:/home/debianuser# dmesg | tail

libsane-extras are installed and no third party firmware are need for
Cannon lite 100 in any
