Bug#812501: RM: user-mode-linux -- RoQA; RC-buggy, low popcon, unmaintained

That's quite severe. This is not an easy package as it usually fails to build upstream. It is quite interesting from an educational perspective since this is the friendlier arch of Linux to use with a debugger. The current RC bug is not two-week old. The package was always present in the stable releases. jwilk was always able to keep it up to shape. Not sure if he wants the official burden of maintaining it. I don't have time either, but the package could just wait for the "natural" decay process and be pushed out of testing due to the RC bug to see if anyone is interested enough to keep it in the archive. -- Keep it right when you make it faster. - The Elements of Programming Style (Kernighan & Plauger) signature.asc Description: PGP signature

Package: ftp.debian.org Tags: moreinfo X-Debbugs-Cc: user-mode-li...@packages.debian.org This package is broken most of the time in unstable due to nobody taking care of it to stay in sync with the current linux version. It's fairly unmaintained, with the last 3 uploads (with new upstream releases) made through NMUs. It has 2 rdep, pbuilder-uml which I'm going to drop with the next upload and rootstrap, for which I'm going to request another RM. -- regards, Mattia Rizzolo GPG Key: 66AE 2B4A FCCF 3F52 DA18 4D18 4B04 3FCD B944 4540 .''`. more about me: http://mapreri.org : :' : Launchpad user: https://launchpad.net/~mapreri `. `'` Debian QA page: https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=mattia `- signature.asc Description: PGP signature

Thought I don't use it very often, it is a nice tool. And I'd hate to see it go. Let me look at my mail archive. I believe Mattia Dongli's actual plan was to push it to the kernel team, which would be the right place for this package. Let's hold this removal. I'll try to shape this package. Do you also want to hold rootstrap removal? in that case you should comment there (and add a moreinfo tag). -- regards, Mattia Rizzolo GPG Key: 66AE 2B4A FCCF 3F52 DA18 4D18 4B04 3FCD B944 4540 .''`. more about me: http://mapreri.org : :' : Launchpad user: https://launchpad.net/~mapreri `. `'` Debian QA page: https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=mattia `- signature.asc Description: PGP signature

I'll see these later, on how much work is involved. Me too don't have that much time. The bugs anyways have a deadline of Feb end, which is good. If I can't shape it by then, it'd be safe to assume I can't commit time for it either. -- Ritesh Raj Sarraf | http://people.debian.org/~rrs Debian - The Universal Operating System signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
