I *strongly* disagree with the comments on this site. You should, in
fact, *always* report *upstream* bugs upstream.

Yeah, so basically this says "Report the bug to the maintainer and hope
that the maintainer forwards your upstream bug report upstream just
to make sure the whole process of fixing the issue is delayed."

This is stupid. I'm asking to get this changed! Again, upstream bugs
should *always* be filed upstream otherwise chances are you are waiting
forever to get your bug fixed.

Great, thanks. I just linked the two reports.

I'm read abort this tree in https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting :
Don't file bugs upstream

If you file a bug in Debian, don't send a copy to the upstream
software maintainers yourself, as it is possible that the bug exists
only in Debian. If necessary, the maintainer of the package will
forward the bug upstream.

But ok, I'm send bug report also to upstream
(https://github.com/mate-desktop/eom/issues/119).

That's not the point. Such bugs may also occur because of dependencies
which are outdated. Reporting bugs in testing is always problematic.

> Now, it can be fixed?

Yeah. But you're barking up the wrong tree. Unless this is a bug which
is only present in Debian, you have to report it to MATE's upstream
bug tracker which can be found in [1]. Debian is primarily dealing
with packaging, fixing such bugs is upstream's job.

Both Sid and Stretch have same eom 1.12.2-1. But okay, apt-get update,
apt-get -u dist-upgrade, result the same. Now, it can be fixed?

Nope. You need to upgrade to unstable first. testing is still not the
most recent version and the bug may also be a result of several outdated
components.

It is still the stable release of Debian and an ancient version of
MATE. Your chances that this issue will be resolved in Jessie are
therefore almost zero.

We usually don't fix usability in stable versions of Debian, but
this isn't really news. It's been like this for a very long
long time.

Debian stable gets security fixes and important updates (drivers etc),
but such issues are normally not covered by that.

What exactly is the point of reporting non-critical bugs against ancient
upstream versions?

I don't think anyone will ever start fixing usability bugs in MATE 1.8.0.

Bug#813323: Second window of Eye of MATE don't get focus

2016-01-31 Thread Strelok
Package: eom
Version: 1.8.0

I'm try open jpg file in Eye of MATE. Eye of MATE show this file in
new window and system switch to this window automatically. Very good.
When Eye of MATE window is still open, I'm try open another jpg file.
Eye of MATE show this file in one more window... But this one more
window don't automatically get focus (but I'm can switch to this
window manually). This bug appear in LiveCD and in usual Debian with
Mate desktop. And yes, I'm really need open two files in one time (to
compare this files between them).
