Package: nautilus Version: 3.18.5-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
My /tmp is a tmpfs. I had the "interesting" idea to try to remove temporary (big) files using nautilus. That was a bad idea. The first surprise is that nautilus doesn't have an option to remove files anymore, you can only move them to the garbage bin. So I did that. Then opened to the garbage bin, where the files didn't appear, and where the options to empty the bin, or restore files are greyed out. I thought that was the end of the story, and that it ended up deleting the files, but in fact, it didn't, and I ended up with a full /tmp because of them sitting in /tmp/.Trash-$uid with no way to see them in nautilus. Interestingly, goofing around, I now also discovered that after moving a file to the garbage bin, there's a pop-over that proposes to restore the file, in case the user made a mistake. I tried that, for the kicks... it doesn't work (which, considering all the above, is not all that surprising) Mike -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.3.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ja_JP.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages nautilus depends on: ii desktop-file-utils 0.22-1 ii gsettings-desktop-schemas 3.18.1-1 ii gvfs 1.26.2-1+b1 ii libatk1.0-0 2.18.0-1 ii libc6 2.21-7 ii libcairo-gobject2 1.14.6-1 ii libcairo2 1.14.6-1 ii libexempi3 2.2.2-2+b1 ii libexif12 0.6.21-2 ii libgail-3-0 3.18.7-1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.32.3-1.2 ii libglib2.0-0 2.46.2-3 ii libglib2.0-data 2.46.2-3 ii libgnome-desktop-3-12 3.18.2-1 ii libgtk-3-0 3.18.7-1 ii libnautilus-extension1a 3.18.5-1 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.38.1-1 ii libpangocairo-1.0-0 1.38.1-1 ii libselinux1 2.4-3 ii libtracker-sparql-1.0-0 1.6.1-2 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.3-1 ii libxml2 2.9.3+dfsg1-1 ii nautilus-data 3.18.5-1 ii shared-mime-info 1.5-2 Versions of packages nautilus recommends: ii gnome-icon-theme-symbolic 3.12.0-1 ii gnome-sushi 3.18.0-2 ii gvfs-backends 1.26.2-1+b1 ii librsvg2-common 2.40.13-2 Versions of packages nautilus suggests: ii brasero 3.12.1-1 ii eog 3.18.1-1 ii evince [pdf-viewer] 3.18.2-1 ii totem 3.18.1-2+b1 ii tracker 1.6.1-2 ii vlc [mp3-decoder] 2.2.2-3+b1 ii vlc-nox [mp3-decoder] 2.2.2-3+b1 ii xdg-user-dirs 0.15-2 -- no debconf information
