According to this log file, each time it was darktable:amd64 2.0.2-1 which
was installed/removed.

I happen to use the default xfce menu plugin (not the whisker ones), and to
also have menu 2.1.47, mate-menus 1.12.0-1 and menu-xdg 0.5 installed. How
do I know which one is in use?

Regards. :)

Hello, could you check in /var/log/dpkg.log which version of
darktable was installed each time ?
Are you sure it was the same ?

Since you use xfce, are you sure the Debian menu system and not
the XDG menu system ?

Thanks for using Debian!

Bug#819028: menu: Menu doesn't update automagically

2016-03-22 Thread Suppositoire
Package: menu
Version: 2.1.47
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Trying to install darktable package (and some others packages few days ago,
same problem), the problem seems to also affect Ubuntu 15.10 (according to a
friend using it)

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
1°/ Synaptic -> install darktable -> no menu entry for darktable
2°/ Terminal -> update-menus -> menu entry for darktable created
3°/ Synaptic -> uninstall darktable -> menu entry updated, darktable removed

4°/ Synaptic -> install darktable -> no menu entry for darktable
5°/ Terminal -> update-menus -> menu entry for darktable created
6°/ Synaptic -> uninstall darktable -> menu entry updated, darktable removed
7°/ Terminal -> apt install darktable -> no menu entry for darktable
8°/ Terminal -> update-menus -> menu entry for darktable created

   * What was the outcome of this action?
The package darktable was installed, but menu was not updated.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Menu updated.

   * Using Debian Testing/Stretch

$ uname -r
4.3.0-1-amd64

$ dpkg-query -l xfce4
xfce44.12.2all

$ dpkg-query -l menu
menu 2.1.47amd64

Regards. :)
