only if you include the bug address as well to the recipients. :)

We need a gdb log also to concatenate the the described behaviour with a
backtrace.

that's the problem, we haven't found a way until now to reproduce the
various segfaults so we can't really investigate here.

But there should be some typical segfaults or typical components there
icedove is crashing (like the JS garbage collector, or imap or what
else). All these reports should then be reported upstream, ideally by
the reporter itself as we would only act as MIT.
Any help in investigating the gdb log is appreciated!

I've tried to use some usertagging to get the actual reports in a view.

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=id-crash-45.1.0;users=c.schoen...@t-online.de

There are probably some reports missing in the view.

At the risk of adding little more than a me too...

I too find that Icedove 4.5 just closes inexplicably several times an
hour. I've struggled to find any particular way I can trigger it to
happen, but without success. Generally one click on an e-mail to read
it, and Icedove just shuts down. After re-starting, the same e-mail can
be read without difficulty.

Perhaps however these reports should be switched to a separate ticket,
since they more than likely relate to a completely different problem.

I do have the same issue. It have been happening since the beginning
when I start to use Debian Jessie, but crashes were less common. Now
with the latest icedove version 1:45.1.0-1~deb8u1, the crashes occurs
during all the time that I am using Icedove. For me it happens randomly
when clicking on any mail, about 5-10 times everyday. After
starting icedove again, there's no problem when opening the mail clicked
on before.

The installed addons are enigmail and iceowl from jessie repo. In all
the computers that I use Debian and Icedove happend the same. This the
terminal message when Icedove crash:

@debian:~$ icedove
[calBackendLoader] Using libical backend at
/usr/lib/icedove/extensions/{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103}/components/libical-manifest
enigmail.js: Registered components
mimeVerify.jsm: module initialized
Violación de segmento
@debian:~$

Bug#820026: icedove crashes suddenly

2016-06-28 Thread TIMSONET John-Arthur

Dear Maintainer,

I do too confirm we are having this bug regularly on every Icedove 45.
Even with the recently updated 1:45.1.0-1~deb8u1.
Icedove randomly crashes during normal use and we can't find a way to
provoke it for audit.
For some colleagues it happens 4 times a morning and for me it's 1 time
ever 2 days.

Cheers,

John-Arthur

I do have the same/a similar issue. It seems to happen since the latest icedove
update (to
45.1.0-1~deb8u1). For me it happens randomly when clicking on any mail, about
10 times today. After
starting icedove again, there's no problem when opening the mail clicked on
before.

The only installed addon is enigmail (from jessie repo: 1.8.2-4~deb8u1).

I'm using icedove on two other systems in very similar configuration, I did not
experience crashes
there so far (but I wasn't using them too much lately).

Using thunderbird/icedove for more than a decade now, never had a similar
problem so far.

Philipp
