I am using Debian/Sid and encountered the same issue.
upgrading to lightdm_1.19.2-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb fixed all issues.

It seems that the forcemerge was done in the wrong direction
(one bug was normal and mine was RC).

I'm not really how “worse” it is actually, this is exactly what happens to
everyone else, it seems. The session is basically unusable without D-Bus.

I thought the bug was already RC, unfortunately it wasn't and the package
migrated today.

In the meantime, you can fix/workaround the issue by installing the dbus-user-
session package (see Simon Mc Vittie comments in the bug page before doing
that though).

Today I encountered the same issue but in a worse way. After the first
log-in, everything was OK. But once I logged out of LXQt and logged in
again, not only PCManFM-Qt didn't start, but also it couldn't be started
in terminal, the notification area didn't run, Pidgin crashed and
Firefox said "No D-BUS daemon running". I think Firefox's message
explains everything.

Downgrading to lightdm-1.18.1-1 fixed all issues.
