Bug#846661: light-locker: screen remains black after unlock

2017-01-16 Thread Ian Jackson
I'm afraid I have no idea why this might have broken. I'm no expert
on this desktop type stuff. Personally I use xtrlock as my
screenlocker.

It is possible that this is related to the cgroups fs problem for
which Michael Biebl applied a patch, and which I have uploaded to
Debian experimental. You could try systemd-shim 10-3~exp2.

If you find out what the problem is, I would apply a patch to
systemd-shim (if applicable).

Good luck.

Ian.

OK, done. Confirmed working. All symptoms gone.
I thought that would be totally obvious so I initially didn't even brother
reconfirming it for this case.

I wouldn't know exactly what needs to be changed but I know it's all caused by
systemd.
It's a whole herd of problems all related to privilege escalation. Mounting
removable media, network-manager, etc. etc.
Now that I've confirmed this it's quite clearly not an issue with light-locker.

Thanks

Can you try with systemd as init system and report back, then?

Then maybe cgmanager or something in the sysvinit path needs to be updated. In
any way, it doesn't look like an issue in light-locker.

I've confirmed the problem appeared with systemd 232-1.
Downgrading to systemd 231-10 fixes everything.

This no doubt has to do with me refusing to use systemd as my init, using
sysvinit instead.

This correlates with the shutdown, reboot, hibernate, suspend items grayed out
in lightdm-gtk-greeter being grayed out, being unable to do anything with the
network-manager applet inside the user session, etc.

These problems have come and gone multiple times in the last couple of years,
but this particular issue with light-locker is a first for me.

It's unlikely to be in light-locker/lightDM, try to check what's upgraded in
the Xorg stack (xserver, driver etc.).

Bug#846661: light-locker: screen remains black after unlock

2016-12-02 Thread Gedalya
Reverting lightdm back to 1.18.2-2 didn't help.
Also I wasn't able to unlock per #846278 using 'loginctl unlock-session {X}',
however my init is sysvinit, so maybe that's an issue.

Bug#846661: light-locker: screen remains black after unlock

2016-12-02 Thread Gedalya
Package: light-locker
Version: 1.7.0-3
Severity: important

After pulling a bunch of new packages from sid - xorg-server-core, mesa, and
dbus, light-locker stopped working.
When unlocking, after putting in my credentials the screen remains black.
Killing the process brings the desktop back.

Attaching debug output.

I'm using XFCE.
