Bug#849227: Onionshare: CLI works but GUI doesn't

2017-05-26 Thread Henrik Ahlgren
Yes, the test case you described works as expected, but have you tried
this:

- Start onionshare GUI
- Add a file
- Uncheck the "Stop server automatically" setting
- Click "Start server" and wait for the server to come up
- Download the file using Tor Browser
- Select "New tor circuit for this site" in Tor Browser and try to
download it again

To me it seems that the GUI always shuts down the onion server after the
first download regardles of the checkbox state.

Bug#849227: Onionshare: CLI works but GUI doesn't

Hi Henrik,

I've just tried what you report here and for me it works perfectly fine.

Let me explain what I did:
- I start onionshare using the GUI to share a file.
- I download the file over Tor using Tor Browser.
- In the GUI I now get a message "Time elapsed: 1second" on a turquoise
background.
- Now when I try to reload the URL in TorBrowser, it does not work,
because the server has been stopped successfully.

However, the OnionShare GUI window stays open and does not explicitly
tell me that the server has been shut down.

I believe that this is a UX problem which you may eventually want to
report upstream: https://github.com/micahflee/onionshare/issues

I'll upload a newer version of OnionShare later, please try it out. If
you agree that this is not actually a bug but a UX problem, we can close
this bug report.

Thank you,
Ulrike
