That was incorrect: the two packages emacs25-lucid and emacs25-nox are
not marked for complete removal. They are both marked as broken (filled
red box). Sorry.

Bug#849883: inconsistency while processing conflicts

2017-01-01 Thread Richard B. Kreckel
Package: synaptic
Version: 0.83+nmu1
Severity: normal

There is a reproducible inconsistency while processing conflicts in
synaptic. It appears to involve three packages, each of which conflicts
with and replaces the other two.

Using packages emacs25, emacs25-nox, and emacs25-lucid, here are steps
to reproduce:
0) Assuming package emacs25 and its dependencies are installed, start
synaptic.
1) Right-click emacs25-lucid -> mark for installation. Confirm removal
of emacs25 by clicking the 'Mark' button.
[Status: Package emacs25 is marked for removal, emacs25-lucid is marked
for installation.]
2) Right-click emacs25-nox -> mark for installation.
[Status: Package emacs25 is marked for removal, emacs25-lucid is marked
for installation.[
3) Right-click emacs25-lucid -> mark for installation. The box informs
about "additional required changes" to be installed: emacs25-nox. This
is, of course, where the nonsense begins. Confirm by clicking the 'Mark'
button.
[Status: Package emacs25 is marked for removal, emacs25-lucid and
emacs25-nox are both marked for *complete* removal.]
