Bug#866795: gnome-contacts: No CardDAV support?

Perhaps not under gnome-contacts, but on jessie the official calendar
app seemed to be evolution, insofar as when I said "open calendar" from
the top bar to get at my contacts, evolution is what started up, and
that supported CardDAV.

Oddly my remaining jessie machine doesn't have gnome-online-accounts
installed, but handles CardDAV fine via evolution anyway. On stretch
gnome-online-accounts doesn't present a WebDAV option, and trying the
ownCloud option I have no idea what to type since it just asks for a
server, not a URL. Previous attempts at entering a URL there failed.

How exactly did you do that in jessie?

Afaik, you couldn't directly add CardDAV URLs in jessie either.

What you can use is gnome-online-accounts, same as in jessie.
I used that to setup a ownCloud/Nextclound account, which I use to host
my CalDAV/CardDAV data.

Bug#866795: gnome-contacts: No CardDAV support?

2017-07-01 Thread Conrad J.C. Hughes (for Debian package stuff)
Package: gnome-contacts
Version: 3.22.1-1+b2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

[I suspect this is closely related to my encountering a similar problem wrt
CalDAV calendars, submitted as bug #866794 versus gnome-calendar; please mark
as duplicate/move to gnome-online-accounts if that's where this should really
reside]

I've just upgraded from jessie to stretch, and now cannot find a means of
adding my CardDAV server as a source of contacts: there's a huge list of
options, but nothing that seems to support CardDAV, which I used successfully
on jessie.

Currently the only way to add an address book seems to be to add an account,
but the list of account types doesn't seem to include anything that would
permit use of a CardDAV URL. I can't see any mention of DAV in the release
notes either for this or for stretch itself.

Any suggestions please?

Regards,
Conrad
