Package: exim4-base
Version: 4.90.1-1
Severity: important

guys. this is really serious. i have been running an exim4 system, live,
for over 12 years. it's an extremely complex and comprehensive setup that
cannot just be blithely "upgraded" without a hell of a lot of work.

you've just completely ignored the most BASIC rules of being a maintainer
for a package: DON'T fuck with peoples' configurations.

it is just a pure coincidence that i happen to be migrating a server, and
happened to have an older version which is still live and has NOT been
upgraded.

if i had been forced into doing an upgrade on the live server (which has
happened at least once with exim4 in the past twelve years) it would have
been absolutely fucking disastrous.

running update-exim4.conf should JUST WORK. your job is NOT to fucking
well IMPOSE on people arbitrary changes that are guaranteed to break a
mission-critical server! it doesn't matter if you're
not being paid to work on this stuff because you're volunteers. if
people are complaining and raising bugreports your response should
NOT BE TO BITCH AND BLAME THEM for quotes NOT READING THE DOCUMENTATION quotes,
your response should be, "oh fuck, *we* fucked up by BREAKING PEOPLE's
SYSTEMS AND CAUSING THEM SERIOUS PROBLEMS".

alright. sorry for shouting, but if someone doesn't shout at you about
this, there's the risk that it might not get through that what you've done
and the approach you're taking is not ok (i can see in the install logs
the warning signs that you're blaming users for not reading documentation).
