Bug#898306: [spl] Conflicts with splat, but should not

2018-09-09 Thread Antonio Russo
This is really bug 894608 again. The long and short of that is: uninstall spl.
You do not need it (spl-dkms, on the other hand, is ABSOLUTELY essential).

Bug#898306: spl: conflicts with splat, but should not (was: splat: packaging error? : installation will remove apparently-unrelated packages)

Control: reopen -1
Control: reassign -1 spl 0.7.9-3
Control: retitle -1 spl: conflicts with splat, but should not

The issue is that "spl" has "Conflicts: splat". spl provides
/usr/sbin/splat, while splat provides /usr/bin/splat.

However "Conflicts" is the wrong way to solve this, see [1]: "Two
different packages must not install programs with different
functionality but with the same filenames."
