It reportbug is the tool Debian uses to report bugs. if you file a bug against it, it means there is a bug in reportbug itself; it's not just a generic placeholder to report bugs that are not trivial to pinpoint to a specific issue. > happens out of the box (fresh install) for various applications, on > different machines without having any user modifications done. It if that's the case, reportbug is not the tool you should be using, but instead you should seek advice on a user support forum, such as https://lists.debian.org/debian-user/ ,as i pointed out when closing the report. Please refer to that mailing list for further questions. -- Sandro "morph" Tosi My website: http://sandrotosi.me/ Me at Debian: http://wiki.debian.org/SandroTosi G+: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+SandroTosi

I am sorry, I don't understand the explanation for closing this bug. It happens out of the box (fresh install) for various applications, on different machines without having any user modifications done. So I have to assume some more global issue. How can the average user be expected to dig out a solution for this or asking for it not having the slightest clue where it is coming from. It shouldn't happen in the first place. Due to some lucky incident I stumbled last week across an older Ubuntu question very similar to mine and it appeared to be the same issue, it is said there that the problem is somehow caused by gtk ibus and I was able to make a workaround by setting input method to scim. Maybe this helps to identify what's going on there. ~Jochen On 11/24/18 7:30 AM, Debian Bug Tracking System wrote: This is an automatic notification regarding your Bug report which was filed against the reportbug package: #904009: reportbug: Backspace, arrow keys and more thing like ctrl+c are not working in some programs It has been closed by Sandro Tosi .
