Bug#925948: xfce4-power-manager: Display power management blanking cannot unblank

2019-04-02 Thread Ed Peguillan
Thank you for letting me know about those other bug reports.

For what it's worth, I am not using lightdm or light-locker. And this
bug's severity was marked as grave based on the questions Debian
reportbug asked me. The issue (whichever package it exists in) causes
data loss, which qualifies as 'grave' according to the reportbug criteria.

Thank you,

Ed Peguillan III

Bug#925948: xfce4-power-manager: Display power management blanking cannot unblank

2019-03-28 Thread Ed Peguillan III
Package: xfce4-power-manager
Version: 1.6.1-1
Severity: grave
Tags: a11y
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Running Debian testing on Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme, xfce4 desktop
environment.

I wished to have power manager blank my monitor after 1 minute of inactivity if
running on battery. Power manager does successfully blank monitor, but
cannot unblank. Moving the mouse or pressing any keys does not unblank
the monitor. Only way to fix is to hold power button to force a
shutdown.

EDIT: A workaround is to use CTRL + ALT + F<2,3,4,etc> to switch to a
new tty temporarily. Then CTRL + ALT + F1 switches back to xfce, which
will display the unlock screen.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Allow XFCE4 Power Manager to manage display power
2. Set 'Blank after' to One minute.
3. Wait 1 minute. Display blanks, cannot unblank.
