OK then, as you wish, I'll close this ITS, even though they seem to be
releasing a new version soon.

Yes, upstream has developed since your ITS.
I am not addressing upstream with this.
What's keeping you from handing in a new package version?
The idea of an ITS is that you send one after three weeks.
This is now open for more than three years.

Awesome! I'll see if I can't do some testing and send a format-patch. I may
have some time this weekend šŸ˜

Yeah that'd be awesome!

I have started to do that some YEARS ago. Never finished it. I am on
vacation in early August, I aim to finalize the release there. If
$someone wants to give a hand - every bit is welcome.

Workwise I am fully loaded - no sparetime left at the moment.

Yeah, thanks. Busy, but ok :)

When are you back in Germany? Time for a beer or two.

Hey akira,

How do we feel about a new release? If we tag a new one we can do the whole
upload thing.

Hope you're well!

Opened a support request at

asking for a new release.

Debian 10 "buster" was just released, so I'll be packaging it soon.

FTR, I'll be packing from the latest git since it is quit stable. Here
is the irc conversation:

[09:06] how stable the fluxbox git code is now?
[09:07] Seems to me it's been stable for quite a while.
[10:44]  sfxpt: stable.

[17:04]  thanks @ak|ra
[17:06] Iā€™m attempting to build an official Debian package for fluxbox,
[17:06] so in this case, I'd pack from the latest git instead
of over-4-year old 1.3.7.
[17:07] would there be any concern for that?

Thanks Paul, for the fast response, as always.

I'm not a DD yet, only a DM. Anyway,

I'll try packing it first, and we'll deal with the upload situation
when we get there.

Thanks again

2019-04-20 Thread Tong Sun
Package: fluxbox
Severity: important
Owner:  Dmitry E. Oboukhov

(closed #927457 & redoing it again)

* Package name: fluxbox
* URL : http://git.fluxbox.org/fluxbox.git
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : Highly configurable and low resource X11 Window manager

Reason to pack: to salvage the package, because

- The last version is over 5 years old
- There are
  * 3 action needed that are "high"
  * 4 bugs tagged patch in the BTS
  * 13 lintian warnings

I contacted the package owner more than 2 years ago:

Hi Dmitry,

I'd like to push forward the Fluxbox version in Debian to the
latest. If you are too busy, I can take a stab.

If so, will you sponsor me to review & upload it when I'm
done? (I'm currently maintaining two Debian packages and am in
the process of getting being officially recognized as DM)
-- Forwarded message -

but didn't get any reply until now.

Thus, I'm officially requesting to salvage the package now,
taking over the maintainership.

Thanks
