the daily logwatch e-mails from my server are quite long due to a list of entries like this: "Didn't Summarize: 2019-07-19 04:34:22 SMTP protocol error in "AUTH LOGIN" H=(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) [yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy] AUTH command used when not advertised" I would expect this error to be summarized. In fact, this has been implemented upstream already: https://sourceforge.net/p/logwatch/git/ci/0963070e1234065a3b08ff02173de12ec21fd67a/#diff-1 By replaing /usr/share/logwatch/scripts/services/exim with the newest version from upstream https://sourceforge.net/p/logwatch/git/ci/master/tree/scripts/services/exim the problem is solved: --- SMTP Connection Issues AUTH command used when not advertised: 236 Time(s) Please consider adding this change to the next official debian package version of logwatch.
