I was hit by this bug.

And I had to add INTERFACES="br0" for the server to stop.

Check the variable

Thanks for your bug report. However, I am unable to reproduce it
(running on an lxc container with 4.4.2-P1-1+b1):

root@sid:~# /etc/init.d/isc-dhcp-server start
Starting isc-dhcp-server (via systemctl): isc-dhcp-server.service.
root@sid:~# ps -ef | grep dhcpd
root1232 1 0 14:00 ?00:00:00 /usr/sbin/dhcpd -4 -q -cf
/etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf eth1
root1244 355 0 14:00 pts/500:00:00 grep dhcpd
root@sid:~# /etc/init.d/isc-dhcp-server stop
Stopping isc-dhcp-server (via systemctl): isc-dhcp-server.service.
root@sid:~# ps -ef | grep dhcpd
root1271 355 0 14:00 pts/500:00:00 grep dhcpd

Could you please test the latest version in sid?

Cheers,

Bug#951627: isc-dhcp-server: Can't stop the daemon

2020-02-18 Thread Russell Coker
Package: isc-dhcp-server
Version: 4.4.1-2.1
Severity: important

In a fairly default configuration with systemd I can't stop the daemon in a
normal manner (this happens on Buster as well as Unstable).

# /etc/init.d/isc-dhcp-server stop
Stopping isc-dhcp-server (via systemctl): isc-dhcp-server.service.
(sysadm_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023)root@unstable:/var/log# ps aux|grep dhcp
root 841 0.0 1.1 13520 9316 ?Ss 04:27 0:00
/usr/sbin/dhcpd -4 -q -cf /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf
# ls -l /run/dhcpd.pid
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 4 Feb 19 04:27 /run/dhcpd.pid

To stop it properly (so it can be restarted again) I have to manually kill the
process and rm the pid file.
