Hello sorry about taking so long to reach out to you, but I've been using my own modified aufs package for some time now. I believe it supports all three of your requirements (eg. it creates package aufs-dkms-5.7 for a kernel version, so you can have more of them installed). You can check it out here: https://salsa.debian.org/jpalecek-guest/aufs-debian To update to a newer version, do: $ uscan $ cd ../aufs-X.XX $ touch debian/config.in $ debian/rules files You can also do "gbp import orig" if you like. However, there's a more serious problem with aufs. The latest kernel omits the kernel patch needed to make the module, which means the resulting package is useless. See: https://salsa.debian.org/kernel-team/linux/-/commit/908c469bc64738ac2f7d0f21a5daee9648be#note_244404 What is your take on this? I was using aufs for schroot only, and maybe will try to use other ways. Regards Jiri Palecek

Is it still truth that one can't add d_type to an existing xfs of ftype=0, or is there nowadays some kind of conversion utilities I never heard of (yet) to migrate from ftype=0 to ftype=1? Cheers, Thomas Goirand (zigo)

So we need to document this problem in the release notes. That's an easy task. There are Debian installations on filesystems that are incompatible with overlayfs, for example xfs without d_type. I ran into this while trying to get rid of aufs. Package: wnpp Severity: normal At the moment aufs is nearly unmaintained since I do not have time due to personal issues. Therefore, I would be happy if there is somebody to co-maintain the package. Open issues are: - Update to current version - Add a version in backports - Support multiple kernel versions at the same time I try to take a look at this problems in the near future but I would be happy about help.
