Bug#964094: Video playback broken with AMD 5700 XT using amdgpu drivers

Hi!

Any useful logs to attach? journalctl, dmesg, etc?

Without logs it is extremely hard to diagnose the root cause.

Bug#964094: Video playback broken with AMD 5700 XT using amdgpu drivers

2020-07-01 Thread Ski-lleR
Package: libva-drm2
Version: 2.8.0-1

After upgrading VA API to 2.8.0-1, i rebooted, and video playback was
completely broken in mpv and firefox. Also firefox almost crashed my session
because before reboot i have an opened tab with video playing.
Every video, no matter of the resolution / bitrate / codec run at less than 1
frame per second.

I downgraded this package :
va-driver-all_2.7.1-1_amd64.deb va-driver-all_2.7.1-1_i386.deb
libva-dev_2.7.1-1_amd64.deb libva-dev_2.7.1-1_i386.deb libva2_2.7.1-1_amd64.deb
libva2_2.7.1-1_i386.deb libva-x11-2_2.7.1-1_amd64.deb
libva-x11-2_2.7.1-1_i386.deb libva-wayland2_2.7.1-1_amd64.deb
libva-wayland2_2.7.1-1_i386.deb libva-drm2_2.7.1-1_amd64.deb
libva-drm2_2.7.1-1_i386.deb libva-glx2_2.7.1-1_amd64.deb
libva-glx2_2.7.1-1_i386.deb

After reboot, video playback was fine like before.

I re-upgraded VA API to 2.8.0-1 / rebooted to be sure that's not some one time
bad boot, and the problem was back again, so it's clearly the upgrade to
2.8.0-1 who cause the problem. Let me know if you need more information.
