Bug#968116: systemd: Not generating service for XDG autostart

2020-10-09 Thread Helge Kreutzmann
Package: systemd
Version: 246.6-1
Severity: minor

Hello Systemd maintainers,
maybe this bug does not belong into your realm, but I could not
figure out the cause, please reassign appropriatly.

For quite some time I see the following messages in my logs:

Oct 10 05:35:27 samd systemd[2445]: kde-systemd-start-condition not found: No
such file or directory
Oct 10 05:35:27 samd systemd[2445]: Not generating service for XDG autostart
app-pulseaudio-autostart.service, startup phases are not supported.
Oct 10 05:35:27 samd systemd[2445]: Not generating service for XDG autostart
app-gsettings\x2ddata\x2dconvert-autostart.service, startup phases are not
supported.
Oct 10 05:35:27 samd systemd[2445]: Not generating service for XDG autostart
app-xdg\x2duser\x2ddirs-autostart.service, startup phases are not supported.
Oct 10 05:35:27 samd systemd[2445]: kde-systemd-start-condition not found: No
such file or directory
Oct 10 05:35:27 samd systemd[2445]: kde-systemd-start-condition not found: No
such file or directory
Oct 10 05:35:27 samd systemd[2445]: Not generating service for XDG autostart
app-at\x2dspi\x2ddbus\x2dbus-autostart.service, startup phases are not
supported.
Oct 10 05:35:27 samd systemd[2445]: kde-systemd-start-condition not found: No
such file or directory

This looks like some broken default configuration (somewhere). If this
is harmless, maybe logcheck filtering rules should be shipped, else
fixing the underlying cause would be appreciated.

(maybe this helps in resolving 968116, which I found after preparing
this report)

LogLevel=err means the systemd --user instance will only log message
with priority err or above.
I don't think this applies to binaries that are spawned by systemd
--user, such as systemd-xdg-autostart-generator

I don't know if this is really a bug or if I have something to do to
correct this question.

Not quite sure what this bug report is about, tbh.
Are you asking for these log messages to be downgraded to debug level so
you don't see them?

Yes if these messages do not show something wrong which does not work

I don't really see the bug here, just the generator logging why it
doesn't generate service files for certain autostart files.
What is systemd package supposed to change here?

I don't know if not generating service files will have or not for
consquence a malfunction.

So I am unable to say what is the good solution.

I'm undecided. I see your point that the XDG autostart generator is
maybe a bit chatty, but so are other programs if I look at journalctl
--user.
Most of those messages have log level info, so they do not indicate an
error.
