Bug#969029: pitivi fresh install gives missing dependecies message: GSound plugin, libav

2020-10-31 Thread Richard B. Kreckel

Hi!

After installing gir1.2-gsound-1.0, this message goes away.
Pitivi already suggests installing gir1.2-gsound-1.0.
This is perfectly correct, according to the Debian policy, section 7.2.
On the other hand, it wouldn't hurt making this dependency stronger,
would it?

Bug#969029: pitivi fresh install gives missing dependecies message: GSound plugin, libav

2020-08-26 Thread Justine Leon Uro
Package: pitivi
Version: 0.999-1+b1
Severity: minor
Tags: a11y

Dear Maintainer,

A fresh install of the `pitivi` (`pitivi/stable,now 0.999-1+b1 amd64`) package
gives missing dependecies message: GSound plugin.

   * What led up to the situation?
Execute pitivi at the command line after a fresh install (Debian 10
Eskolinux)

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

* GSound plugin: Installed `gir1.2-gsound-1.0/stable,now 1.0.2-4 amd64`

   * What was the outcome of this action?
Missing dependencies message disappeared

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Disappearancce of the missing dependencies message

The `reportbug` suggests I install the unstable package `pitivi-0.999-2`. When
I tried this in another Linux distribution an additional missing dependency was
listed: libav. I installed `gstreamer1.0-libav/stable,now
1.15.0.1+git20180723+db823502-2 amd64` to address this additional missing
dependency. Maybe these two packages should be automatically installed with
`pitivi`.

Best,
Justine Leon Uro
