Sure you are right! As sound is working with some the apps (probably the ones using gstreamer) but not the sound preference of GNOME control center, I was focused on any hypothetical change in the PulseAudio server of PipeWire. But then it may probably due to the upgrade of GNOME control center to 1:40.0-1 that happened the same day on my system. I'm gonna try some downshift. :-/

Since you run this as user, the socket path should be something like this /run/user/1000/pulse/native (assuming 1000 is your uid).
