Bug#990106:
I've been using the AVR-X1000 for a few days now and the problem is no more. I also realized the AVR-X500 has another issue: the volume of the surround (rear) and subwoofer channels is way too low. With the new amplifier all channels have proper volume, without individual tuning. Sorry for the wrong bug report, free free to close it. Hopefully it will be useful for someone encountering a similar issue in the future.

Thanks! I installed linux-image-5.9.0-0.bpo.5-amd64 and instantly reproduced the issue. For reference: the amplifier is a Denon AVR-X500. I just purchased a Denon AVR-X1000 as replacement, I will confirm whether the issue is fixed as soon as I receive it. At this point I'm 99% sure it's the amplifier though.

Difference between -6 and -7 aren't that big. You should be able to find that on https://snapshot.debian.org/ signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
Bug#990106:
After leaving the computer on for a while I reproduced the problem on 5.10.0-6 as well, even after disconnecting the SPDIF cable. Considering that I've been using this machine for at least one year and I've never encountered the issue, I believe the relay in the amplifier is going bad and pushing noise into mains. I would expect the power supply to filter it out though, as it's a quality one: Sharkoon SilentStorm Cool Zero 850W. Out of curiosity, were there perhaps changes related to power management in the platform or amdgpu drivers?
Bug#990106: Switching on/off 5.1 audio amplifier/receiver causes graphics card to turn off
Package: linux-image-5.10.0-7-amd64 Version: 5.10.40-1 I have a 5.1 audio amplifier/receiver connected to a Gigabyte X570 AORUS PRO (Realtek ALC1220) via SPDIF. After updating from 5.10.0-6-amd64 to 5.10.0-7-amd64, the AMD Vega 56 graphics card turns off as soon as I switch the amplifier on or off. The first time I encountered the issue was when shutting down Debian, leading me to suspect it was either a race condition that was never triggered before or an electricity spike. That turned out not to be the case, because I can reliably reproduce the issue and I confirmed that it doesn't happen in 5.10.0-6-amd64. Once the graphics card is turned off the computer seems to remain responsive and SysRq commands work.
