Bug#496990: gnome-panel: Gnome panel crashes with scummvm installed

2008-08-28 Thread Rodrigo Chandia
Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.20.3-5
Severity: normal

gnome-panel crashes and sometimes hangs when clicking Applications Games

To reproduce: install scummvm, click said menu.

Installing and removing scummvm reliably produces and removes the behavior.

Doing a

$strace gnome-panel --sync

gives:

gettimeofday({1219973154, 991042}, NULL) = 0
close(17) = 0
munmap(0xb6c3d000, 4096)= 0

Interestingly,

$ strace -o panel-trace gnome-panel --sync

Does not give the same error. It hangs and gives a double free error instead of
a segfault.

Hi!

dtc-common depends ONLY on courier-maildrop, which is used for DELIVERY,
whatever pop / imap / smtp server you might used. Do you call that
almost all of courier? If you want to use dovecot, no problem, use
dovecot with dtc-core, it works with courier-maildrop. Am I missing

Description : 2D physics engine for games

2D rigid body simulation library for games. Programmer's can use it in
their games to make objects move in believable ways and make the world
seem more interactive. From the game's point of view a physics engine is
just a system for procedural animation. Rather than paying (or begging)
an animator to move your actors around, you can let Sir Isaac Newton do
the directing.

Bug#496992: enigmail: Images don't decrypt for display inline

2008-08-28 Thread Alex Roper

Package: enigmail
Version: 2:0.95.0+1-3.1
Severity: normal

When decrypting a message from a friend (using gpg-agent, did not test
manually entered passphrase or Icedove's remember option), I noticed
that encrypted images don't display inline (show up as broken links).

I can open them in an external viewer with no problem so this is a
fairly minor bug. I vacillated between wishlist and normal, decided on
the latter since this is a problem with a particular option.

Best,
Alex

Bug#496369: The possibility of attack with the help of symlinks in some Debian packages

2008-08-28 Thread Charliej
I have discussed this bug with upstream and it has been decided to not
use the patch provided but to add -Xgather-messages.sh option to
dh_install in debian/rules. This way the offending file is not
installed onto the user's system and thus not a security risk.

/locale/base/gather-messages.sh is provided to assist users in
developing/updating translation files and is actually not used by
ampache proper.

As stated in the earlier post I will close this bug with the next
sponsored upload.

Bug#496996: base: Trash icon is invisible on panels

2008-08-28 Thread Deniz Akcal
Package: base
Severity: normal

When I right click on the panels and select Add to Panel then select
Trash, it adds the trash can but it is invisible and right clicking on
it sometimes says empty trash (you have to guess where to click). The
Trash works perfectly as a desktop icon but I'd like to have it on the
panel. *I am using Debian Lenny (during its freeze).*

Bug#496998: Descriptor leak in subprocess module exception path

2008-08-28 Thread Michel Lespinasse
Package: python2.4-minimal
Version: 2.4.4-3+etch1
Tags: patch

I'm observing a descriptor leak issue using python 2.4 as distributed in etch.
This is on an amd64 architecture system.

The following code leaks two file descriptors when 'jpegexiforient' is
not installed:

try:
get_orient = subprocess.Popen (['jpegexiforient', '-n', pathfull],
   stdin = subprocess.PIPE,
   stdout = subprocess.PIPE)
orient = get_orient.communicate ()[0]
except:
orient = None

If executed in a loop, the process soon runs out of file descriptors.

Looking at the issue, I believe this will happen on any posix system when
subprocess.Popen is invoked with stdin or stdout equal to subprocess.PIPE
and the desired executable can't be executed.

The attached patch seems to solve the issue for me.

2008-08-28 Thread Otgonbayar . A
I had this problem too but solved following way.

I think it is not a bug. Some how file mode has been changed.

So, to fix it you should do following.

sudo chmod u+s /usr/X11R6/bin/xscreensaver

That's it.

Good luck.

No it doesn't. Why do you think this is so?

Well, because it's in #ifdef __USE_POSIX. Try the following:

Okay -- so this means we need _POSIX_SOURCE or _POSIX_C_SOURCE = 1 or
_XOPEN_SOURCE (see features.h).

Cheers,

Bug#497000: [tasksel] add poppler-data for chinese/japanese/korean desktop environment

Hi,

 As Christian said at

poppler-data is needed to view PDF files at CJK desktop environment.

Yes, it's categorized to non-free, but we don't have any other solution
for this issue (or if Adobe says Okay, it's free to modify now).

So I and other Japanese Debian developer/maintainer/package maintainer/

The easiest way to have this to happen is by sending a wishlist bug
  report against tasksel.

Though I'm not a maintainer of tasksel stuff, I think it's valid to
suggest the same to be done for Chinese(both simplified and traditional)
and Korean tasks as well, so that we save some bug number count :)

So please accept to add poppler-data, ONLY for CJK Desktop environment.
 Thanks.

xine shows flickering horizontal bands of greenish noise that cover most

to 1:6.9.0-1+lenny2 makes the problem disappear, as does configuring xine
to use XSHM instead of the default XV video driver. The noise pattern is
static and doesn't change over time, except for the flickering

There are very few changes between lenny3 and lenny2. Can you try to
find out which one causes the problem?

You should first try reverting

Bug#497001: rtorrent ignores urls starting with Http

2008-08-28 Thread Marc Lehmann
Package: rtorrent
Version: 0.7.9-2+b2
Severity: normal

rtorrent ignores tracker urls starting with Http even thought it
supports the http protocol.

editing the torrent into a lowercase http makes it detect the tracker.

background: uri scheme names are case insensitive, and worse, actual
torrent files do contain tracker urls with mixed and upper case
scheme parts (i don't know if bittorrent meta files have additional
specificaitons that force scheme names to lowercase, but I doubt it).
