Bug#526244: Please update reprepro packaging to make use of libdb-dev instead of libdb4.6-dev

that would break once libdb4.8 is out (as libdb4.X uses some monstrosity
instead of sonames, so every minor version is a totally different
library from the view of the linker and autotools.)

Fair enough. Then, maybe a libdb4.6-dev | libdb4.7-dev build dependency
would make the trick?

and also update the rules file to take into account libdb4.7?

Looking into libdb4.7 is on my todo list. I'd love to have the same

Ok. Thanks!

As attachement, here is the patch we apply in Ubuntu

I'm aware of those. The reason this is so short is because I already
added the libdb4.7 linking to configure. Note the big fat

configure: WARNING: reprepro not yet tested with libdb4.7, use on your own risk

Yeah: noticed it before, when building the package (and got scared :-) )

warning this produces in ubuntu build logs. I was bitten by libdb
too often to trust it with anything I've not thouroughly tested.
(Though as ubuntu already uses it, I decided to make this possible in
configure with the above warning).

ok. I'll follow up with the merges, then, until you make a compatible
version.

Thanks,

Fabrice

Bug#526384: Depends: librtai-dev renders package uninstallable on most archs

2009-05-01 Thread Gudjon I. Gudjonsson
Hi Jan

 Version 0.7.76+20090411cvs-1 introduced a dependency on rtai-dev. However,
 rtai-dev is only available on i386 and powerpc. Thus, comedi-source is
 uninstallable on all other architectures.

 Moreover, I don't see, why rtai-dev should be a dependency, as RTAI support
 is an optional feature of Comedi, so a Suggest: would seem a lot more
 appropriate to me.
You are most probably right here. However, if you download the Debian source
package for rtai. It will compile and install perfectly on amd64. There is a
bug against rtai complaining that it is not buil on amd64.

I will fix this during next week.

Regards
Gudjon

  alsa-base contains /usr/sbin/alsa command but not an associated manual page.

 Well, alsa is a deprecated initscript which is only useful for
 users which want to load|unload snd drivers via selfmade scripts.

Maybe, but being deprecated does not exempt alsa from being documented - this
not only a request for enhancement, but a genuine bug.

 When I type ' u in a buffer called control, I get \372, instead of ú.  I tried
 to search if this was a personal configuration issue, but I could find
 nothing,
 and I noticed that in emacs21 this doesn't happen. In buffers called control2
 or 2control (the ones I tested) the same problem happens. In other buffers, I
 get ú.

This problem is reproducible in emacs22 -q, but not in emacs22 -Q.

Looks like the deb-view-control-coding function that debian-el
helpfully runs whenever the filename contains the string control is
b0rked.  See /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/debian-el/debian-el.el for that
function.

Reassigning to debian-el,

Bug#526424: Bug #526424: gerris: missing file 'm4.awk

2009-05-01 Thread Drew Parsons
Stephane Popinet wrote:

 In order to implement the GfsDefine macro
 keyword, the gerris executable calls m4 and awk on the input parameter
 file. It also uses a 'm4.awk' file which is normally installed in
 $prefix/lib/gerris/m4.awk. Is there any reason why this file is not
 part of your current debian package?

I've fixed the missing files in git commit
2ba2f77bf3b2ac8ccc56dab9800120ca7716bdcd.
so that /usr/lib/gerris/m4.awk is now in place. (I took the liberty of
placing it in /usr/share/gerris/lib, symlinked back to /usr/lib/gerris,
since the m4.awk is arch-independent).

I tried testing by simply adding

GfsDefine CIRCLE (ellipse (-0.5,0.,0.4,0.4))

to my gfs script.

gerris2d continues generating the same macro error:

gerris: file `test.gfs' is not a valid simulation file
test.gfs:20:1: unknown class `GfsDefine'

I'm not sure if the error is because I've misused the macro in my gfs
script, or whether gerris and m4 need to communicate where m4.awk is
exactly.

This should have been done as the awk variable in gerris.c, via
GFS_MODULES_DIR. GFS_MODULES_DIR is defined in Makefile at build time:
-DGFS_MODULES_DIR=\$(libdir)/gerris\ . That should be ok. Needs
deeper digging to check awk was defined appropriately.

Ok, so it's memory error. Will you mind If I ask you to rebuild the Debian

require installing some additional development packages. If no, I will report

Yes, the version I posted on 2008-04-06 is the latest one. When
building a local linux-2.6 2.6.26-9.kon.1 version, I put the
patch at debian/patches/debian/dfsg/sound-pci-cs46xx.patch and
added it to the list in debian/patches/series/1.

Currently, my primary problem with this patch is that the cs46xx
module gets inserted before /usr is mounted, and it then doesn't
receive the firmware from userspace and fails to initialize the
device. From the source, it appears that snd_card_cs46xx_probe
returns -EIO in this situation. To get sound after this, I have
to rmmod and insmod cs46xx again, or do:

printf :00:0d.0  /sys/module/snd_cs46xx/drivers/pci:Sound Fusion
CS46xx/bind

The hexadecimal numbers depend on the PCI slot, I guess.

Bug#526434: CVE-2009-1364 libwmf: embedded gd use-after-free error

2009-05-01 Thread Giuseppe Iuculano
Package: libwmf
Version: 0.2.8.4-6
Severity: serious
Tags: security patch

Hi,

redhat recently patched libwmf.

CVE-2009-1364 is still reserved, but is disclosed in RHSA-2009:0457-1[0]

A pointer use-after-free flaw was found in the GD graphics library embedded
in libwmf. An attacker could create a specially-crafted WMF file that would
cause an application using libwmf to crash or, potentially, execute
arbitrary code as the user running the application when opened by a victim.
(CVE-2009-1364)

Note: This flaw is specific to the GD graphics library embedded in libwmf.
It does not affect the GD graphics library from the gd packages, or
applications using it.

Attached the trivial patch to fix this issue, but probably libwmf should not use
embedded gd, system gd should be used instead.

Cheers,
Giuseppe.

I spend quite some time yesterday of finding a sting which was in all
CAPS. Please add some comment to the description that the string
reported might be found in any variant of capitization. Maybe also a add
comment on how to find the string yourself, i.e. use
strings binary | grep -i string.

Kind regards

Bug#526436: libperl4caml-ocaml-dev: Using regexp fails with www_mechanize.follow_link

2009-05-01 Thread Fabien Givors
Package: libperl4caml-ocaml-dev
Version: 0.9.5-2
Severity: important
Tags: patch

In the module Pl_WWW_Mechanize, class www_mechanize, if I use the method
follow_link with label url_regex or text_regex I got a Perl error message
telling me the argument is not a regexp.

Here is the code of the method :

  method follow_link ?text ?text_regex ?url ?url_regex ?url_abs ?url_abs_regex
?name ?name_regex ?tag ?tag_regex ?n () =
let args = ref [] in
let add name f = function
  | None - ()
  | Some p - args := sv_of_string name :: f p :: !args
in
add text sv_of_string text;
add text_regex sv_of_string text_regex;
add url sv_of_string url;
add url_regex sv_of_string url_regex;
add url_abs sv_of_string url_abs;
add url_abs_regex sv_of_string url_abs_regex;
add name sv_of_string name;
add name_regex sv_of_string name_regex;
add tag sv_of_string tag;
add tag_regex sv_of_string tag_regex;
add n sv_of_int n;
call_method_void sv follow_link !args

As you can see, sv_of_string text_regex is the sv of a string but not the sv of
a regexp.
To correct this bug, I changed the four lines :

add url_abs_regex sv_of_string url_abs_regex;
add url_regex sv_of_string url_regex;
add name_regex sv_of_string name_regex;
add tag_regex sv_of_string tag_regex;

with

add url_abs_regex eval url_abs_regex;
add url_regex eval url_regex;
add name_regex eval name_regex;
add tag_regex eval tag_regex;

eval returns the sv of the evaluated string, which hopefully is a regexp.

Other occurences of this bug may be present in this package.

Bug#337795: not mounting usbdrive with current versions of udev / hal / usbmount

2009-05-01 Thread Rogério Brito
Dear Arthur,

I am the new maintainer of usbmount.

On Nov 07 2005, Arthur Marsh wrote:
 My usbdrive is recognised by udev when plugged in:

Interesting that you were using in an i386 platform.

  Rev:
 Nov  7 01:01:54 localhost kernel:   Type:   Direct-Access

Do you really get those messages with empty fields?

 Nov 7 01:01:54 localhost kernel: sda: assuming drive cache: write through
 Nov  7 01:01:54 localhost kernel:  sda: sda1
 Nov 7 01:01:54 localhost kernel: Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi2,
 channel 0, id 0, lun 0
 Nov 7 01:01:54 localhost kernel: usb-storage: device scan complete

Oh, up to now.

I have updated the usbmount version in unstable (but it is completely
compatible with the version in stable) and I would appreciate if you
could test it so that we can update the status of this bug. Also, newer
versions of the kernel and of udev would probably help.

Also, I have included quite detailed information in the documentation
shipped with usbmount, including troubleshooting the behaviour of the
package.

 /etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf is:
(...)
 VERBOSE=no

Can you please set VERBOSE to yes and see the logs (possibly in
/var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog, depending on your configurations)?

 I could not find anything in /etc/udev that appeared to tell udev to
 recognise usbdrives.

It should be inside the directory /etc/udev/rules.d . I hope that this helps.

If you can't reproduce the problem, please let me know and we can close
this bug.

Regards, Rogério Brito.

Bug#526424: Bug #526424: gerris: missing file 'm4.awk

2009-05-01 Thread Stephane Popinet
 I tried testing by simply adding

        GfsDefine CIRCLE (ellipse (-0.5,0.,0.4,0.4))

 to my gfs script.

 gerris2d continues generating the same macro error:

 gerris: file `test.gfs' is not a valid simulation file
 test.gfs:20:1: unknown class `GfsDefine'

Did you use the -m option of gerris2D?

Which version of awk are you using?

Bug#460694: vbrfix: please add an -interactive switch that asks before overwriting files

2009-05-01 Thread Rogério Brito
Hi, Rhonda.

On Jan 14 2008, Gerfried Fuchs wrote:
 It would be nice if you could forward this to upstream, it's not a bug

 :)

I will be packaging a new upstream version of vbrfix and uploading it to
experimental. Could you test it to see if it works well in big-endian
machines?

 vbrfix should have an -interactive switch like mv or cp has that asks
 before overwriting any files. That would be pretty helpful, if you ask
 me.

Ok, I will see what I can do and suggest this to upstream. If he can not
implement it, then I will do it myself, now that I've gained contact
with him once again.

Also, extending your idea, two other switches would be interesting to
have, for scriptability:

force: force overwriting files that already exist
skip: don't overwrite files that already exist

Nice idea. Thanks.

I need to use gcj, if eclipse does not work with it, after the line

it should stop.

 Also, make sure you have installed xulrunner-dev or the equivalent.
 If that doesn't work either, then the problem is that unstable has a too new
 version of xulrunner for eclipse.

If i need to install xulrunner-dev then a depend is missing.

 Mozilla people tend to change the interfaces at will which tends to break
 eclipse a lot. The most current breakage (also reported as a Fedora bug)
 is iirc still being discussed in upstream eclipse's bugzilla.

then this depende should be versioned :?

The safely remove option for a second pendrive dissapears after safely
removing a first one.

To see this bug configure the desktop to show mounted and unmounted
removable medium, then plug on two
pendrives, mount them, then safely remove one of them but don't unplug it.
At this point you won't be able
to see the safely remove option for the other pendrive until you unplug the
unmounted one.

2009-05-01 Thread Raoul Bönisch
 Can you please test that with the latest upstream svn trunk and branches/2.1
 ?

It took me some time to compile this because I hit the UNICODE

iaxcomm.

The problem basically still persists. One change was that the
ALSA default device is now selectable in iaxcomm even if it was
not explicitely defined in some asound.conf file.

But I get stuttering sound and when selecting the hardware device
I get the output log-hw00.txt attached to this email as soon as
connecting a call.

When selecting the default device I get log-default.txt output.

I have uninstalled the Debian iaxcomm 2.0.2-3 and the iaxclient
library shipped with Debian to make sure the newly compile
program and library will be used. In Help/About of iaxcomm I get
iaxComm version: 1.1.0final and libiaxclient version: 2.1-svn (as
specified by me when installing.

The ulimit output is the following:

Bug#526446: No shutdown menu entry with gnome-panel 2.26

2009-05-01 Thread Julien Valroff
Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.26.0-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

Using gnome-panel 2.26, there is no shutdown menu entry in the
GNOME system menu.

Downgrading gnome-panel to 2.24 makes this entry appear again.

I am using GDM and have checked policy-kit policies, which are all
set to defaults (allow shutdown to active console user).

The 'close session' entry is there in both cases.

Cheers,
Julien

 This bug was closed becouse was not well explained.

Then you should've reopened the original one instead of opening a new bug. Doing
now and merging bugs.

 Dbus restart is needed to run wicd-client, after every system boot. Change
 the order in wich the services begin, by hand, solves the problem. This is
 not in the README.Debian.

Ok, understood. The requirement that D-Bus should be started (s/should/MUST/)
before wicd is clearly expressed in the init script:

$ grep Required-Start debian/init
# Required-Start:dbus
$

I'll just add some documentation to README.Debian, seems sufficient to me.
Also, Debian is planning to use dependency-based LSB init system in the near
future, and I can't see how to tell dh_installinit to start /etc/init.d/wicd
*after* /etc/init.d/dbus (without any weird hack).

Kindly,
David

 Hi,

 Soya builddepends on cdbs (= 0.4.23-1.1) and cdbs (= 0.4.43).
 IMO, this would be a minor bug if the versionned dependencies were not
 different.

This seems a bug in cdbs since control.in only contains @cdbs@ macro and
this macro is expanded to cdbs multiple time. There is already a bug
filled for it.

Kalle Olavi Niemitalo k...@iki.fi wrote:

 Antonio Ospite osp...@studenti.unina.it writes:

  can the latest version of your code be found in this thread?

 Yes, the version I posted on 2008-04-06 is the latest one. When
 building a local linux-2.6 2.6.26-9.kon.1 version, I put the
 patch at debian/patches/debian/dfsg/sound-pci-cs46xx.patch and
 added it to the list in debian/patches/series/1.

OK, thanks.

About the SND_CS46XX_NEW_DSP issue, from a first glance to
the driver it looks like that in order to support it we have to make a
binary image for any file in the imgs/ dir. Does this look ok to you?

 Currently, my primary problem with this patch is that the cs46xx
 module gets inserted before /usr is mounted, and it then doesn't
 receive the firmware from userspace and fails to initialize the
 device. From the source, it appears that snd_card_cs46xx_probe
 returns -EIO in this situation. To get sound after this, I have
 to rmmod and insmod cs46xx again, or do:

 printf :00:0d.0  /sys/module/snd_cs46xx/drivers/pci:Sound Fusion
 CS46xx/bind

 The hexadecimal numbers depend on the PCI slot, I guess.

From what I know the proper solution should be to add the firmware
images to an initrd image. I'll let you know the results of my tests.

Regards,
   Antonio

  This machine prefers listening on (in order of preference):
  * ipv4 (only)
  * ipv6+ipv4

 I stumbled on the same problem and found the cause:

  g...@amd64:/tmp$ grep '^#*label' /etc/gai.conf
  label ::1/128   0
  label ::/0  1
  #label 2002::/16 2

  label :::0:0/96 4
  label fec0::/10 5
  label fc00::/7  6
  label 2001:0::/32   7

 The labels are related to the rule 6 of RFC 3484 (although the comment in
 the source code of the glibc says rule 5). The algorithm needs to choose
 between two addresses:

They are two paragraphs in the RFC3484, one for the source addresses,
one for the destinations addresses. The source code correctly matches
the rules for destination addresses in the RFC.

 - ::0 (IPv6 mildcard)

 - :::0.0.0.0 (mapped IPv4 wildcard)

 It uses a corresponding source address, respectively:

 According to the labels above (or the hardcoded ones), the addresses get the
 following labels:

 - ::1 (IPv6 looopback) - 0

 - ::0 (IPv6 mildcard) - 3

 - :::0.0.0.0 (mapped IPv4 wildcard) - 4

 - :::127.0.0.1 (mapped IPv4 loopback) - 4

 The rule 6 says that addresses with the same label for the source and the
 destination should be selected.

 I fixed the problem by adding the following line to gai.conf:

 label ::/1280

 I am not completely sure whether this is correct, but it seems to work.

In my opinion, it is more a workaround then a fix, as the default labels
are defined by the RFC. Moreover this may have some side effects.

 About the SND_CS46XX_NEW_DSP issue, from a first glance to

 binary image for any file in the imgs/ dir. Does this look ok to you?

I guess that's what needs to be done. The difficulty is with
pointers in struct dsp_segment_desc and struct dsp_module_desc.
You'll have to replace those with integers (presumably file
offsets) and concatenate the structures in the binary file while
ensuring proper alignment. It seems quite doable but I don't
need the SND_CS46XX_NEW_DSP features myself and cannot test them.

 From what I know the proper solution should be to add the firmware
 images to an initrd image. I'll let you know the results of my tests.

In the patch, I added a MODULE_FIRMWARE line that should make it
possible for initrd-building scripts to include the firmware.
However, in the 2.6.26 initrd image I have here, the snd-cs46xx.ko
module itself is not included; presumably because the driver isn't
needed for booting. So I think it would be pointless to include
the firmware there.

2009-05-01 Thread Kalle Olavi Niemitalo
Gustavo Noronha Silva k...@debian.org writes:

 While trying to build elinks on an i386 chroot (building also Arch:
 all binaries) I got the following error:

 make[1]: Entering directory

  [ASCIIDOC]   doc/elinks.1.xml
 FAILED: [listdef-bulleted] missing section: [listtags-None]
 make[1]: *** [elinks.1.xml] Error 1

I can reproduce this with upstream ELinks 0.12pre3.GIT sources
and AsciiDoc 8.4.4-1 from Debian.

We have AsciiDoc 7.1.2 configuration files in the ELinks source
tree in order to lock the input syntax against AsciiDoc upgrades
(Debian bug 491820) or user modifications of /etc/asciidoc.
The AsciiDoc User Guide recommends bundling the asciidoc script
too (under Shipping stand-alone AsciiDoc source) but I had
previously assumed I could rely on the script remaining
compatible with old config files. So I'll now add the script
there, and Debian can then replace the asciidoc build-dependency
with some version of python.

This change will go in the elinks-0.12 and master branches.
Do you need it in elinks-0.11 as well?

Very unusual. This is happening from the line:

yield_connection(conn, lp_servicename(SNUM(conn)));

which means that a) it's happening on shutdown of a connection, so the fact
that it's not showing up as a service disruption is somewhat expected; and
b) the internal service number for the connection being closed doesn't
have an associated name.

Could you set debug level = 3 in your smb.conf, restart, find the
corresponding backtrace in the samba log, and send us as complete as
possible a copy of that log, covering the period from the connection to the
crash?

Please also forward a copy of your smb.conf.

Not this is _after_ the application asked if I'd like to import the photos...

As a second smaller bug the 'Import' button is still sensitive in the window

Bug#507536: it does not work here either

 I need to use gcj, if eclipse does not work with it, after the line
 testing /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj...found
 it should stop.

Agreed with all the above, but eclipse seems to have no active
maintainer right now
and the version in debian is trully ancient (the equivalent of kde 2.x).

The best solution at this time is probably to remove eclipse
altogether from debian
until someone with the needed time and dedication can pick it up and bring in
the current versions.

Until then we 'd just be beating a dead horse, imho.

Bug#501678: Bug still occurs in samba 2:3.3.3-1 (current sid version)

2009-05-01 Thread Chris Carr
 Is there any chance that you can install 2.6.28 or 2.6.29 linux-image
 packages on the Sid server?

 And then retry again, of course

Apologies for the delay with this. I have installed 2.6.29 on the Sid
server, but it appears to have broken networking (the interface now says
device not ready). I will have to solve this new problem before I can
return to samba!

Bug#526127: mt-daapd: Please compile with --enable-musepack

2009-05-01 Thread Chris Carr
 I did the test here with a Musepack file and found out that the ffmpeg
 plugin in mt-daapd doesn't list mpc as a supported codec.

 Which is clearly stupid as ffmpeg does support Musepack nowadays, even
 if it may not have supported it back when the plugin was written.

 So you can give a try to this package and tell me if it works for you:

http://people.debian.org/~jblache/mt-daapd_0.9~r1696.dfsg-6lenny2_i386.deb

 sha1sum: d548c6eaed500064e2ebd18880ee73da51f0cf97

 If it works for you, it'll be a candidate for an update in Lenny (as
 the version shows :).

It's almost perfect. The .mpc files play fine, except for a very brief burst
of white noise at the start of each file. At a guess I'd say that it's
trying to play the metadata.

 The SoundBridge shows a different icon for formats it doesn't handle
 (an X) and formats it does handle (a music note) next to the title of
 the track. I don't think the Pinnacle-branded behaves differently on
 this. (in case you didn't know/notice)

Thank you. To be honest I hardly ever use the SB's own LCD interface, I use
the browser interface instead (RokuWebControl by Frederik Holst). But it's
good to know.

Thanks again for your help in solving this - feel free to close this bug if
you don't think the white noise is a big issue.

That's probably it, yes. Unfortunately ffmpeg is far from being the
very nice piece of software praised by some... codec and format
support is far from ideal. It also has serious troubles playing FLAC
files all by itself, for instance.

 Thank you. To be honest I hardly ever use the SB's own LCD interface, I use

Oh, OK. I'm usually right next to the SB as it's on my desk so I read
the LCD most of the time.

 Thanks again for your help in solving this - feel free to close this bug if

The bug will be closed by the uploads of the fixed versions in
unstable and stable. There's not much I can do about the white noise,
other than reporting a bug against ffmpeg, but they'll ask for a
sample file to reproduce.

Feel free to open a bug against the version of libavcodecXY in Lenny
(can't remember what XY is in Lenny, 51?) as you're the one with a
sample file :)

 Man am I blind. Thanks.

Nessun problema! ;)

 Well it would be nice to have it in the overview line where there is
 the MAC address. The reason is that sometimes you have to check all your
 surroundings for a free channel andexpanding all is a bit a pain.

 Would be nice to have

ESSID NN% Unsecured NN:NN:NN::NN:NN:NN  Channel

ACK.
That'd need some changes though, to avoid redundancy. Currently each item looks
like:

ESSID NN% Security NN:NN:NN::NN:NN:NN
  [x] Automatically connect to this network
  NN% Security NN:NN:NN::NN:NN:NN Master Channel XX
  [Script] [Advanced settings]
[Connect]

Maybe I should add Master Channel XX to the overview, and drop the line in
the detailed view? Will work on that.

Ciao,
David

Bug#526448: clamav-getfiles: new freshclam command line syntax

2009-05-01 Thread Marc Haber
Package: clamav-getfiles
Version: 2.0-5
Severity: grave

Justification: renders package unusable

freshclam has recently begun to silently ignore options given in the
--foo bar style, which clamav-getfiles uses. clamav-getfiles will
change to --foo=bar which works in the next upload.

Bug#526400: audacity: crashes when saving after deleting cursor to end of track

On Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 06:23:50PM -0400, Rick Pasotto wrote:

Hi!

 Version: 1.3.6-3
 Severity: important

This version is outdated. Can you please check with the current audacity
in testing/unstable (1.3.7-2)?

 Whenever I delete 'from cursor to end of track' and then try to export
 the file (to mp3), the mouse pointer starts blinking and the program
 hangs. It then has to be killed from another window. Since I'm
 overwriting the imported file, the original is renamed with the added
 '0' and the initial 16384 byte file is created.

Could you provide a step-by-step guide on how to reproduce the bug? What
I did so far:

   1. Load song
   2. Place the cursor somewhere in the middle of the song
   3. Press and hold left mousebutton to select everything up to the end of
  the file
   4. Press Delete (or edit/delete)
   5. Export file as MP3

With this sequence, I got a completely normal output file.

Bug#465715: complex startup configuration

 Package: openvpn

 Having a way of configuring which tunnels to start at startup
 depending on IP-subnets would be nice. For example I automatically
 start a tunnel to my company when I'm using my laptop, but when
 I'm in the office, openvpn tries to connect to the tunnel also.
 Having the tunnel active by default is fine for me, if I don't
 have an address from the subnet 192.168.0.0/24 or 192.168.1.0/24.
 This config should exist for every tunnel config (I may want to connect
 to a customer even when I'm in the office).

Hi, you can use the 'openvpn' option in the /etc/network/interfaces.
i.e.

iface foobar inet dhcp
openvpn inittab
test-peer address 172.22.4.1 mac 00:0B:46:00:3E:00

Bug#491088: p3scan: Unable to free memory not previously allocated

2009-05-01 Thread Thomas Parmelan
tag 491088 + patch
thanks

Hi,

I think the following patch fixes all these problems (I explained what
was going on in #484676, but didn't submit a patch at that time).

Basically it's always the same thing: memory used after being freed (by
calling context_uninit(p) before using p-foo). The fix is to strdup()
the needed strings before calling context_uninit(p), and later using the
copy instead of p-foo. There's no need to free() the copy because all
these cases are LOG_EMERG cases, and do_log(LOG_EMERG, ...) ends the
program by exit(1).

Regards,
Tom

Bug#526458: listarchives: Removing spam from debian-l10n-finnish

2009-05-01 Thread Tommi Vainikainen
Package: listarchives
Severity: wishlist

debian-l10n-finnish is bilingual Finnish/English list for Finnish
localisation. Its list archive contains quite much spam, because it is
low volume list. I've used Report as spam button quite often, and now
after Developer News informed more about how process works, I requested
one official Finnish speaking Debian Developer to remove some spam from
this list archive.

However he said that debian-l10n-finnish is not available in the web
API so he could really remove that spam.

Please enable http://lists.debian.org/archive-spam-removals/review/ for

Bug#526462: xfce4-panel: the Help menu item fails to open the documentation in the web browser

2009-05-01 Thread Paolo Panza
Package: xfce4-panel
Version: 4.6.1-1
Severity: normal

The Help menu item fails to open documentation. Iceweasel shows the
following error:

Firefox doesn't find the file:
/home/user/'file:///usr/share/xfce4/doc/it/index.html'.

If I enter the correct URL
(file:///usr/share/xfce4/doc/it/index.html) into
the Iceweasel address bar, the link
works.

Bug#526461: kwrited module do not work - no shutdown message show up

2009-05-01 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package: konsole
Version: 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-6etch2
Severity: important
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertag: debian-edu

The kwrited module in KDE is supposed to pass on wall messages to the
user. This is important when for example a shutdown request is
running and is announcing a future shutdown. This message need to
reach logged in console users, also if they do not use any terminal
programs. This do not happen. I believe it is related to bug
#103864, based on the comments I found on
URL:http://markmail.org/message/66tip4jmunuwandi.  The problem seem
to be the access to the utmp file. Please fix kwrited, as it is vital
in a school environment to let the users know that their computer is
going to shut down.

Bug#482509: idjc: FTBFS: Nonexistent build-dependency: liblame-dev

On Fri, May 30, 2008 at 09:26:25PM +0100, peter green wrote:
 The ftbfs on autobuilder issue could be fixed by switching the order of
 the optional build-dependencies.

It now build-depends on libmp3lame-dev | toolame and
the autobuilders only attempt the first alternative,
so your package is failing to build.

Hello,

 Hello,

 your package contains a bashism in debian/rules which makes it FTBFS on
 system where /bin/sh is dash (like e.g. Ubuntu). Attached is a patch to
 fix this.

Thanks you for the bugreport and the patch (to be included in next

Bug#526465: roundcube: multipart/mixed message incorrectly displayed

2009-05-01 Thread Mark Syms
Package: roundcube
Version: 0.2.1-1
Severity: normal

Display of multipart/mixed messages in roundcube is not correct, for instance
in the case of digested mailing lists (eg
ubuntu-devel-requ...@lists.ubuntu.com). A horizontal break is displayed between
each message part but the senders details are not shown.

A small section of one offending message is shown between the SNIP lines. The
display of the first section in the web display starts Dear Ubuntu Developers
and omits the sender name, subject line and time details etc.

Obviously an upstream issue but I can't see how to lodge a report with
Roundcude directly so as the server is running on Debian I'm raising it with
you.

Subject: Call for participation on the Mentoring Program
Message: 1

Dear Ubuntu Developpers,

I am contacting you on behalf of the MOTU Mentoring Reception Team.

With the start of the Karmic cycle, it is a great time for each of you
to start to help us in mentoring program
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU/Mentoring). Indeed we really lack of
mentors both in the junior and the senior step. So please come and
contact us at the reception (you can contact me directly and I'll
forward) we'll be happy to assign you padawan in your domain of
expertise...
Once again we really need you help, since we cannot do this alone ! So
please act !

All the best,

 Christophe

Bug#526400: audacity: crashes when saving after deleting cursor to end of track

Yes, I had been doing that for years.

I *had* upgraded to 1.3.7-2 but using that version I can no longer play
anything. I get a requester 'Error while opening sound device. Please
check the output device settings and the project sample rate.'

Since that version was unusable I downgraded and that's when the export
problem started.

OK. So I just upgraded again and this time I found the output device
setting in the preferences. It was set to OSS instead of ALSA. Changing
that I am now able to use 1.3.7-2.

Sorry to bother you but why would that setting be lost by upgrading?

 Fixed since KDE 4.2 packages.

Great. What is required to get that fix into Lenny? Debian Edu is
working on our Lenny release and would love to have it fixed there.
Is the patch easy to backport?

Happy hacking,

Bug#268631: force preference of IPv4 over IPv6

2009-05-01 Thread Barak A. Pearlmutter
 The basic idea is that we want to make sure that either there's no
 IPv6 at all, or IPv6 works fine.

where by fine you actually mean something much stronger:

 IPv6 at least as good as IPv4

Okay, let's consider people who want IPv6 but (for whatever reason)
cannot ensure that their IPv6 is better than their IPv4. Wouldn't it
be a good idea to make their lives a little easier? Eg, /etc/gai.conf
could have an accompanying /etc/gai.conf.d/ directory, in the Debian
tradition, that would have the files it contains implicitly scanned.
This would make it easier to prefer IPv4 in a way that won't require
manual intervention on every upgrade. E.g., by including a file
 /etc/gai.conf.d/prefer-ipv4
containing one line.

It would also make it easier for slow-IPv6-provision gizmos, like
miredo or aiccu, to indicate that IPv4 is preferred in a way that is
easy to automatically turn back off when said systems are disabled.
These systems could put a symlink, e.g.,
 /etc/gai.conf.d/aiccu - /var/run/whatever
and create/delete the /var/run/whatever file when their slow IPv6 link
goes up and down.

Bug#526470: RFP: audio-entropyd -- feed the /dev/random device with entropy-data read from an audio device

2009-05-01 Thread Folkert van Heusden
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: audio-entropyd
  Version : 2.0.0
  Upstream Author : Folkert van Heusden folk...@vanheusden.com
* URL : http://www.vanheusden.com/aed/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : feed the /dev/random device with entropy-data read from an
audio device

This program feeds the /dev/random device with entropy-data read from an audio
device.
The audio-data is not copied as is but first 'de-biased' and analysed to
determine how much bits of entropy is in it.
This program is usefull for systems doing lots of cryptographic stuff like VPN
endpoints or GPG clients.

I do not know a singel person which install on its own a MySQL server on
a System connected directly to the Internet.

My current MySQL which I was forced to install for an OnlineShop (now
closed) has 18 grave/rc bugs and I was hacked over MySQL several times.

My PostgresQL (from Debian Lenny and 8.3) is running since 1999 with an
open SSL port to the internet on a Dual-STM-4 (- 2 x 622 MBit) without
being hacked, even if I have several 1000 hack attempts per day.

So, my feature request is to use PostgreSQL and of course, remote SQL
server. On the website it was write, it is posibel, but it seems I have
to recompile the whole bunch my own because potential security issues in
the Debian version because MySQL.
