Bug#526244: Please update reprepro packaging to make use of libdb-dev instead of libdb4.6-dev
Bernhard R. Link escribió: * Fabrice Coutadeur fabric...@ubuntu.com [090430 06:43]: As reprepro is compatible with libdb4.7 since january, can you please update the packaging of reprepro to make use of libdb-dev instead of libdb4.6-dev, that would break once libdb4.8 is out (as libdb4.X uses some monstrosity instead of sonames, so every minor version is a totally different library from the view of the linker and autotools.) Fair enough. Then, maybe a libdb4.6-dev | libdb4.7-dev build dependency would make the trick? and also update the rules file to take into account libdb4.7? Looking into libdb4.7 is on my todo list. I'd love to have the same Ok. Thanks! As attachement, here is the patch we apply in Ubuntu I'm aware of those. The reason this is so short is because I already added the libdb4.7 linking to configure. Note the big fat configure: WARNING: reprepro not yet tested with libdb4.7, use on your own risk Yeah: noticed it before, when building the package (and got scared :-) ) warning this produces in ubuntu build logs. I was bitten by libdb too often to trust it with anything I've not thouroughly tested. (Though as ubuntu already uses it, I decided to make this possible in configure with the above warning). ok. I'll follow up with the merges, then, until you make a compatible version. Thanks, Fabrice -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#526384: Depends: librtai-dev renders package uninstallable on most archs
Hi Jan Version 0.7.76+20090411cvs-1 introduced a dependency on rtai-dev. However, rtai-dev is only available on i386 and powerpc. Thus, comedi-source is uninstallable on all other architectures. Moreover, I don't see, why rtai-dev should be a dependency, as RTAI support is an optional feature of Comedi, so a Suggest: would seem a lot more appropriate to me. You are most probably right here. However, if you download the Debian source package for rtai. It will compile and install perfectly on amd64. There is a bug against rtai complaining that it is not buil on amd64. I will fix this during next week. Regards Gudjon -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#526424: Bug #526424: gerris: missing file 'm4.awk
Stephane Popinet wrote: In order to implement the GfsDefine macro keyword, the gerris executable calls m4 and awk on the input parameter file. It also uses a 'm4.awk' file which is normally installed in $prefix/lib/gerris/m4.awk. Is there any reason why this file is not part of your current debian package? I've fixed the missing files in git commit 2ba2f77bf3b2ac8ccc56dab9800120ca7716bdcd. so that /usr/lib/gerris/m4.awk is now in place. (I took the liberty of placing it in /usr/share/gerris/lib, symlinked back to /usr/lib/gerris, since the m4.awk is arch-independent). I tried testing by simply adding GfsDefine CIRCLE (ellipse (-0.5,0.,0.4,0.4)) to my gfs script. gerris2d continues generating the same macro error: gerris: file `test.gfs' is not a valid simulation file test.gfs:20:1: unknown class `GfsDefine' I'm not sure if the error is because I've misused the macro in my gfs script, or whether gerris and m4 need to communicate where m4.awk is exactly. This should have been done as the awk variable in gerris.c, via GFS_MODULES_DIR. GFS_MODULES_DIR is defined in Makefile at build time: -DGFS_MODULES_DIR=\$(libdir)/gerris\ . That should be ok. Package: libwmf Version: 0.2.8.4-6 Severity: serious Tags: security patch Hi, redhat recently patched libwmf. CVE-2009-1364 is still reserved, but is disclosed in RHSA-2009:0457-1[0] A pointer use-after-free flaw was found in the GD graphics library embedded in libwmf. An attacker could create a specially-crafted WMF file that would cause an application using libwmf to crash or, potentially, execute arbitrary code as the user running the application when opened by a victim. (CVE-2009-1364) Note: This flaw is specific to the GD graphics library embedded in libwmf. It does not affect the GD graphics library from the gd packages, or applications using it. Attached the trivial patch to fix this issue, but probably libwmf should not use embedded gd, system gd should be used instead. Bug#526436: libperl4caml-ocaml-dev: Using regexp fails with www_mechanize.follow_link
Package: libperl4caml-ocaml-dev Version: 0.9.5-2 Severity: important Tags: patch In the module Pl_WWW_Mechanize, class www_mechanize, if I use the method follow_link with label url_regex or text_regex I got a Perl error message telling me the argument is not a regexp. Here is the code of the method : method follow_link ?text ?text_regex ?url ?url_regex ?url_abs ?url_abs_regex ?name ?name_regex ?tag ?tag_regex ?n () = let args = ref [] in let add name f = function | None - () | Some p - args := sv_of_string name :: f p :: !args in add text sv_of_string text; add text_regex sv_of_string text_regex; add url sv_of_string url; add url_regex sv_of_string url_regex; add url_abs sv_of_string url_abs; add url_abs_regex sv_of_string url_abs_regex; add name sv_of_string name; add name_regex sv_of_string name_regex; add tag sv_of_string tag; add tag_regex sv_of_string tag_regex; add n sv_of_int n; call_method_void sv follow_link !args As you can see, sv_of_string text_regex is the sv of a string but not the sv of a regexp. To correct this bug, I changed the four lines : add url_abs_regex sv_of_string url_abs_regex; add url_regex sv_of_string url_regex; add name_regex sv_of_string name_regex; add tag_regex sv_of_string tag_regex; with add url_abs_regex eval url_abs_regex; add url_regex eval url_regex; add name_regex eval name_regex; add tag_regex eval tag_regex; eval returns the sv of the evaluated string, which hopefully is a regexp. Other occurences of this bug may be present in this package. I have updated the usbmount version in unstable (but it is completely compatible with the version in stable) and I would appreciate if you could test it so that we can update the status of this bug. Also, newer versions of the kernel and of udev would probably help. Also, I have included quite detailed information in the documentation shipped with usbmount, including troubleshooting the behaviour of the package. /etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf is: (...) VERBOSE=no Can you please set VERBOSE to yes and see the logs (possibly in /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog, depending on your configurations)? I could not find anything in /etc/udev that appeared to tell udev to recognise usbdrives. It should be inside the directory /etc/udev/rules.d . I hope that this helps. If you can't reproduce the problem, please let me know and we can close this bug. Bug#460694: vbrfix: please add an -interactive switch that asks before overwriting files
Hi, Rhonda. Could you test it to see if it works well in big-endian machines? vbrfix should have an -interactive switch like mv or cp has that asks before overwriting any files. That would be pretty helpful, if you ask me. Ok, I will see what I can do and suggest this to upstream. If he can not implement it, then I will do it myself, now that I've gained contact with him once again. Also, extending your idea, two other switches would be interesting to have, for scriptability: force: force overwriting files that already exist skip: don't overwrite files that already exist Nice idea. If that doesn't work either, then the problem is that unstable has a too new version of xulrunner for eclipse. If i need to install xulrunner-dev then a depend is missing. Mozilla people tend to change the interfaces at will which tends to break eclipse a lot. The most current breakage (also reported as a Fedora bug) is iirc still being discussed in upstream eclipse's bugzilla. then this depende should be versioned :? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#509405: Partial solution
Can you please test that with the latest upstream svn trunk and branches/2.1 ? It took me some time to compile this because I hit the UNICODE wxWidgets issue. Finally I could manage to compile testcall and iaxcomm. The problem basically still persists. One change was that the ALSA default device is now selectable in iaxcomm even if it was not explicitely defined in some asound.conf file. But I get stuttering sound and when selecting the hardware device I get the output log-hw00.txt attached to this email as soon as connecting a call. When selecting the default device I get log-default.txt output. I have uninstalled the Debian iaxcomm 2.0.2-3 and the iaxclient library shipped with Debian to make sure the newly compile program and library will be used. In Help/About of iaxcomm I get iaxComm version: 1.1.0final and libiaxclient version: 2.1-svn (as specified by me when installing. About the SND_CS46XX_NEW_DSP issue, from a first glance to the driver it looks like that in order to support it we have to make a binary image for any file in the imgs/ dir. Does this look ok to you? Currently, my primary problem with this patch is that the cs46xx module gets inserted before /usr is mounted, and it then doesn't receive the firmware from userspace and fails to initialize the device. From the source, it appears that snd_card_cs46xx_probe returns -EIO in this situation. To get sound after this, I have to rmmod and insmod cs46xx again, or do: printf :00:0d.0 /sys/module/snd_cs46xx/drivers/pci:Sound Fusion CS46xx/bind The hexadecimal numbers depend on the PCI slot, I guess. From what I know the proper solution should be to add the firmware images to an initrd image. I'll let you know the results of my tests. The algorithm needs to choose between two addresses: They are two paragraphs in the RFC3484, one for the source addresses, one for the destinations addresses. The source code correctly matches the rules for destination addresses in the RFC. - ::0 (IPv6 mildcard) - :::0.0.0.0 (mapped IPv4 wildcard) It uses a corresponding source address, respectively: According to the labels above (or the hardcoded ones), the addresses get the following labels: - ::1 (IPv6 looopback) - 0 - ::0 (IPv6 mildcard) - 3 - :::0.0.0.0 (mapped IPv4 wildcard) - 4 - :::127.0.0.1 (mapped IPv4 loopback) - 4 The rule 6 says that addresses with the same label for the source and the destination should be selected. I fixed the problem by adding the following line to gai.conf: label ::/1280 I am not completely sure whether this is correct, but it seems to work. In my opinion, it is more a workaround then a fix, as the default labels are defined by the RFC. Bug#464197: Any update on this issue?
Antonio Ospite osp...@studenti.unina.it writes: About the SND_CS46XX_NEW_DSP issue, from a first glance to the driver it looks like that in order to support it we have to make a binary image for any file in the imgs/ dir. Does this look ok to you? I guess that's what needs to be done. The difficulty is with pointers in struct dsp_segment_desc and struct dsp_module_desc. You'll have to replace those with integers (presumably file offsets) and concatenate the structures in the binary file while ensuring proper alignment. It seems quite doable but I don't need the SND_CS46XX_NEW_DSP features myself and cannot test them. From what I know the proper solution should be to add the firmware images to an initrd image. I'll let you know the results of my tests. In the patch, I added a MODULE_FIRMWARE line that should make it possible for initrd-building scripts to include the firmware. However, in the 2.6.26 initrd image I have here, the snd-cs46xx.ko module itself is not included; presumably because the driver isn't needed for booting. So I think it would be pointless to include the firmware there. pgpDDZo9aVf45.pgp Description: PGP signature

The AsciiDoc User Guide recommends bundling the asciidoc script too (under Shipping stand-alone AsciiDoc source) but I had previously assumed I could rely on the script remaining compatible with old config files. So I'll now add the script there, and Debian can then replace the asciidoc build-dependency with some version of python. This change will go in the elinks-0.12 and master branches. The most current breakage (also reported as a Fedora bug) is iirc still being discussed in upstream eclipse's bugzilla. then this depende should be versioned :? Agreed with all the above, but eclipse seems to have no active maintainer right now and the version in debian is trully ancient (the equivalent of kde 2.x). The best solution at this time is probably to remove eclipse altogether from debian until someone with the needed time and dedication can pick it up and bring in the current versions. Until then we 'd just be beating a dead horse, imho. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#501678: Bug still occurs in samba 2:3.3.3-1 (current sid version)
Is there any chance that you can install 2.6.28 or 2.6.29 linux-image packages on the Sid server? And then retry again, of course Apologies for the delay with this. I have installed 2.6.29 on the Sid server, but it appears to have broken networking (the interface now says device not ready). I will have to solve this new problem before I can return to samba! Bug#526127: mt-daapd: Please compile with --enable-musepack
I did the test here with a Musepack file and found out that the ffmpeg plugin in mt-daapd doesn't list mpc as a supported codec. Which is clearly stupid as ffmpeg does support Musepack nowadays, even if it may not have supported it back when the plugin was written. So you can give a try to this package and tell me if it works for you: http://people.debian.org/~jblache/mt-daapd_0.9~r1696.dfsg-6lenny2_i386.deb sha1sum: d548c6eaed500064e2ebd18880ee73da51f0cf97 If it works for you, it'll be a candidate for an update in Lenny (as the version shows :). It's almost perfect. The .mpc files play fine, except for a very brief burst of white noise at the start of each file. At a guess I'd say that it's trying to play the metadata. The SoundBridge shows a different icon for formats it doesn't handle (an X) and formats it does handle (a music note) next to the title of the track. I don't think the Pinnacle-branded behaves differently on this. (in case you didn't know/notice) Thank you. To be honest I hardly ever use the SB's own LCD interface, I use the browser interface instead (RokuWebControl by Frederik Holst). But it's good to know. Thanks again for your help in solving this - feel free to close this bug if you don't think the white noise is a big issue. The .mpc files play fine, except for a very brief burst of white noise at the start of each file. At a guess I'd say that it's trying to play the metadata. That's probably it, yes. Unfortunately ffmpeg is far from being the very nice piece of software praised by some... codec and format support is far from ideal. It also has serious troubles playing FLAC files all by itself, for instance. Thank you. To be honest I hardly ever use the SB's own LCD interface, I use the browser interface instead (RokuWebControl by Frederik Holst). But it's good to know. Oh, OK. I'm usually right next to the SB as it's on my desk so I read the LCD most of the time. Thanks again for your help in solving this - feel free to close this bug if you don't think the white noise is a big issue. The bug will be closed by the uploads of the fixed versions in unstable and stable. There's not much I can do about the white noise, other than reporting a bug against ffmpeg, but they'll ask for a sample file to reproduce. Since I'm overwriting the imported file, the original is renamed with the added '0' and the initial 16384 byte file is created. Could you provide a step-by-step guide on how to reproduce the bug? What I did so far: 1. Load song 2. Place the cursor somewhere in the middle of the song 3. Press and hold left mousebutton to select everything up to the end of the file 4. Press Delete (or edit/delete) 5. Export file as MP3 With this sequence, I got a completely normal output file. Bug#491088: p3scan: Unable to free memory not previously allocated
tag 491088 + patch thanks Hi, I think the following patch fixes all these problems (I explained what was going on in #484676, but didn't submit a patch at that time). Basically it's always the same thing: memory used after being freed (by calling context_uninit(p) before using p-foo). The fix is to strdup() the needed strings before calling context_uninit(p), and later using the copy instead of p-foo. There's no need to free() the copy because all these cases are LOG_EMERG cases, and do_log(LOG_EMERG, ...) ends the program by exit(1). Bug#526400: audacity: crashes when saving after deleting cursor to end of track
On Fri, May 01, 2009 at 01:29:04PM +0200, Adrian Knoth wrote: On Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 06:23:50PM -0400, Rick Pasotto wrote: Hi! Version: 1.3.6-3 Severity: important This version is outdated. Can you please check with the current audacity in testing/unstable (1.3.7-2)? Whenever I delete 'from cursor to end of track' and then try to export the file (to mp3), the mouse pointer starts blinking and the program hangs. It then has to be killed from another window. Yes, I had been doing that for years. I *had* upgraded to 1.3.7-2 but using that version I can no longer play anything. I get a requester 'Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate.' Since that version was unusable I downgraded and that's when the export problem started. OK. So I just upgraded again and this time I found the output device setting in the preferences. It was set to OSS instead of ALSA. Changing that I am now able to use 1.3.7-2. Sorry to bother you but why would that setting be lost by upgrading? -- If a thousand men were not to pay their tax bills this year, that would not be a violent and bloody measure, as it would be to pay them, and enable the State to commit violence and shed innocent blood. Bug#268631: force preference of IPv4 over IPv6
The basic idea is that we want to make sure that either there's no IPv6 at all, or IPv6 works fine. where by fine you actually mean something much stronger: IPv6 at least as good as IPv4 Okay, let's consider people who want IPv6 but (for whatever reason) cannot ensure that their IPv6 is better than their IPv4. Wouldn't it be a good idea to make their lives a little easier? Eg, /etc/gai.conf could have an accompanying /etc/gai.conf.d/ directory, in the Debian tradition, that would have the files it contains implicitly scanned. This would make it easier to prefer IPv4 in a way that won't require manual intervention on every upgrade. E.g., by including a file /etc/gai.conf.d/prefer-ipv4 containing one line. It would also make it easier for slow-IPv6-provision gizmos, like miredo or aiccu, to indicate that IPv4 is preferred in a way that is easy to automatically turn back off when said systems are disabled. These systems could put a symlink, e.g., /etc/gai.conf.d/aiccu - /var/run/whatever and create/delete the /var/run/whatever file when their slow IPv6 link goes up and down. --Barak. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
