Ah. I suppose a more thorough search might have found that. Then again, how
was I supposed to know that it contains symbols for libnm-glib4? (I see
there's a dependency, but that's an awfully subtle clue.)

Anyway, thanks.

Bug#666889: transition: GNOME 3.4: clutter/cogl

2012-04-02 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: transition

Hi,

for GNOME 3.4, we need newer clutter-1.0 and cogl versions:

clutter-1.0: 1.8.4 → 1.10.0
cogl: 1.8.2 → 1.10.0

cogl has a soname bump libcogl5 → libcogl9

We need to do clutter and cogl at the same time, as clutter uses cogl
and linking against both libcogl5 and libcogl9 results in crashes.

The newer versions of clutter and cogl are available in experimental and
Sjoerd did check the reverse dependencies:

Packages which need sourceful uploads:
==
mutter (3.2.2-2 from exp)
clutter-gst (patched in pkg-gnome unstable svn)
clutter-gesture (#666749, patch available)
toonloop (#666756, patch available)

Packages which can be binNMUed:
===
gnome-shell
empathy
cheese
clutter-gtk
gnome-control-center
evolution
eog-plugins
gnome-sushi
libchamplain
mx
gnome-games
pinpoint
rhythmbox

Please let us know when we can start the transition.

Michael,
on behalf of the Debian GNOME team.

Something is strange here ... I just did:
- created a clean testing chroot
- installed texlive-base in it
- changed the sources.list to sid
- called apt-get dist-upgrade
and it worked without any problem, on the first run, no errors,
everything configured.

Is this a clean environment or something else? It might be a problem
with debconf?

Best wishes

This sounds like a bad name, since there used to be a regex module in
the standard distribution a few years back and there's therefore a fair
amount of documentation warning against using it.

Its a clean minimal environment, take a look at the logfile to see whats
being done ...

I think the templates are not properly registered at the time they are
being used ... but I'm no debconf guru.
the templates are used from an arbitrary script, not a maintainer script
directly, so eventually dh_installdebconf did not generate some
neccessary bits ... I think I had a similar issue with the
nvidia-support package ...

that's the upstream name, and infact I've renamed the also source to
python-regex (instead of keeping 'regex' as upsteram chose); also,
it's well known in the python community what regex module is. To make
it more clear, packages will be python{,3}-regex{,-dbg} but what
you'll import is regex, as per Python Policy.

Could you point to some references about why it's a bad name?

Bug#666891: libpam-mount: pam mounted home directories not unmounted on logout (and mounted twice)

2012-04-02 Thread josh
Package: libpam-mount
Version: 2.14~git+d1d6f871-1
Severity: important
Tags: security

I have individually LUKS encrypted home dirs on my system which are
mounted at login via pammount, which however do not get sucessfully
unmounted on logout, leaving them readable for anybody else who logs in
afterwards and has sufficient permissions (which at least partially
defeats the purpose of having pam mounted encrypted home dirs.)

Often, when partions don't get pam unmounted on logout it is because
of processes (especially pulse audio) which aren't terminating,
leaving open file handles, which prevent the partion from being
unmounted. However, changing the "logout"-line in
/etc/security/pam_mount.conf.xml from:

to:

ensures that all processes are terminated, so this isn't the cause.

Turning on pam mount debugging in pam_mount.conf.xml () produces the following output when exiting:

josh@howlingfantods:~$ exit

I have contacted upstream (Jan Engelhardt, the maintainer of
libpam-mount), and he says that the problem is the "error setting uid
to 0", which he says is usually a /distribution/ problem (hence the
bug-report to debian), due to the authentication dropping it's
privileges too early:

After logging out, the only way to get the decrypted partion unmounted
is for root to do this by hand. I see this as a security risk because
users encrypting their home partions rely on their data not being
readable after they've logged out.

Although confusing to me, upstream indicated that the fact that the
home dir is mounted multiple times (see double mount below), is a
/Feature-Not-A-Bug/ (c) and apparently not part of the
problem. However, libpam-mount deletes the entry in /run/cmtab, even
though the decrypted mapped device is still mounted, which causes
umount.crypt to fail if called by hand to unmount the volume after
logout. To unmount by hand, you have to unmount the fs and then unmap
the device with cryptsetup luksClose device. This seems like an
upstream bug in libpam-mount to me.

-j

**double mount

I'm adding this section (and added it to the subject) to document this
behaviour and the fact that upstream claims it's a
/Feature-Not-A-Bug/(c),because I long believed this to be a bug and part
of the problem, and in case anybody else searches for it.

pam-mount mounts the encrypted volumes twice, once as a decrypted dev
mapped device and then as an fs (this seems strange to me, and I don't
see the necessity, but upstream indicated that this is the correct
behaviour.), and after mounting there are two entries in mtab:

josh@howlingfantods:~$ df
Filesystem1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on

[irrelevant lines removed]

/dev/mapper/_dev_sda1 57690744 20807472 36297152 37% /home/josh
/dev/sda1 57690744 20807472 36297152 37% /home/josh

josh@howlingfantods:~$ cat /etc/mtab
[irrelevant lines removed]

/dev/mapper/_dev_sda1 /home/josh ext4 rw 0 0
/dev/sda1 /home/josh crypt rw 0 0

josh@howlingfantods:~$ cat /run/cmtab
/home/josh /dev/sda1 - /dev/mapper/_dev_sda1

After logout, only the fs gets unmounted, but

Bug#659314: Is it still the case?

2012-04-02 Thread Enrico Tassi
Your bug refers to a version that was in experimental and you are
building this package from stable. The package really needs to be
built using a multiarch aware toolchain. I could update the build
dependencies but building a opackage from experimental on a stable
machine is not supported anyway.

Cheers

As this seems to be a regression between 0.9.2 and 0.9.4, could you run
git bisect on
git://anongit.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager
to find the faulty commit.

Problem is, I can't reproduce the issue myself, which makes it a bit
hard to track it down.

Bug#666892: cron: Cross-building support for cron

2012-04-02 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: cron
Version: 3.0pl1-120
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu precise ubuntu-patch

Hi guys,

In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to add support for cross-building
cron. cron has a very simple build system, so it's a very simple patch; all
that's required to let cron cross-build is to tell the makefile where the
cross-compiler is.

Please consider including this patch in Debian as well.

Hello Norbert,

Thanks for the report. I have fixed the problem
(https://github.com/mojca/marvosym) by renaming two macros. When I was
updating the font not so long ago, I tried to keep consistent name
with glyph name in the font. The macro was always called \Email until
I changed the name to \EMail and made \Email a synonym, so it makes
sense that I remove \Email rather than the other package maintainers.
Do I have to change any other name as well?

I already wanted to upload the package to CTAN when I realized that
back then we had a problem with whether or not we are allowed to
distribute original PDF documentation. Martin Vogel replied to me
with:

So my question before uploading a fixed version is: based on his
reply, am I allowed to add his original PDF documentation to the
package?

Bug#666790: ITP: python-regex -- alternative regular expression module

2012-04-02 Thread Jakub Wilk

* Sandro Tosi , 2012-04-02, 10:06:
This sounds like a bad name, since there used to be a regex module in
the standard distribution a few years back and there's therefore a
fair amount of documentation warning against using it.

that's the upstream name, and infact I've renamed the also source to
python-regex (instead of keeping 'regex' as upsteram chose); also, it's
well known in the python community what regex module is. To make it
more clear, packages will be python{,3}-regex{,-dbg} but what you'll
import is regex, as per Python Policy.

Could you point to some references about why it's a bad name?

http://docs.python.org/release/1.5.1/lib/module-regex.html
The module was removed in Python 2.5.

It actually isn't a joke. I would actually like to see a
multiarch:foreign interface to gcc. Are there other ways this could be
achieved?

> Either get this kind of thing implemented upstream, or not at all.

I am aware that implementing this feature is a huge amount of work. Can
you give more detailed answers to my other questions even if you do not
intend to do this work yourself? Those questions were:

| Is this feature worth the effort? Is the drafted solution applicable?
| Are there other prerequisites needed before changes to the gcc
| packages can be done?

Another option for this case might be multiarch:allowed. However the
current multiarch spec does not permit an explicit gcc:amd64 dependency.

Thanks for theses patches. However it seems most of them are already
present in the Debian package. Against which version are there supposed
to work? The best would be to get these patches against the current

Bug#661318: Possibility integrating newer Hyper-V paravirt drivers in squeeze?

2012-04-02 Thread Mathieu Simon
Hi,

Ok, I have tried to prepare a list based on Jonathan's inputs.
It seems v3.2.12 is the current base for wheezy's kernel.
I attached a list with patches that hopefully arrives on BTS with:

git log --oneline --no-merges v3.2.12..v3.4-rc1 -- drivers/staging/hv/ \
drivers/hv/ tools/hv/ include/linux/hyperv.h drivers/net/hyperv \
drivers/hid/hid-hyperv.c drivers/scsi/storvsc_drv.c >
hyperv.patches.list

For personal testing, I have made a very basic cherry-pick script with
tac & awk to find gotchas when picking all patches in one run:
(Perhaps I ran into them due to my own in-experience here... anyway)

cf6a2ea drivers: hv: Don't OOPS when you cannot init vmbus
Not needed, since already included in gregkh's 3.2-stable, leave it out.

045b168 Staging: hv: mousevsc: Remove the mouse driver from the staging tree
Needed to 'git rm' manually the old driver in staging

95fa040 staging: hv: move hv_netvsc out of staging area
Needed manual merge of: drivers/staging/hv/Kconfig,
drivers/staging/hv/Makefile

fe17a8c Staging: hv: remove hv_mouse driver as it's now in the hid directory
Needed manual merge of: drivers/staging/hv/Kconfig

86cbce4 hv: remove the second argument of k[un]map_atomic()
Upstream had a strange merge, don't know exactly what to propose:

This patch was made against the in-staging storvsc_drv.c, but applies
without problems
on drivers/scsi/storvsc_drv, I just had to rework the path. - Parts of
the changes are even
applied in the merge commit 9f39383.

In the end I had a small diff on storvsc_drv.c possibly do to Linus'
manual merge conflict
resolving in: 9f39383 Merge branch 'kmap_atomic' of

I have taken the final diff and applied it manually, the driver still built.
I'll try to make a kernel-package and see of well/bad this works out on

Actually you want a transition slot. It will involve bin-nmus
but it's dealt differently than one-shot binnmu requests.
https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/ReleaseTeam/Transitions

Here's some ben configuration snippet that should be usable to track
the transition:

Affected: .build-depends ~ /libapt-pkg-dev/
Good: .depends ~ /libapt-pkg4.12|libapt-inst1.4/
Bad: .depends ~ /libapt-pkg4.10|libapt-inst1.2/

Release team, any idea when this transition can be scheduled?

This means that libept reverse dep also need to be updated right and that
it should happen at the same time than the apt transition...

In which case the ben config should be:

Affected: .build-depends ~ /libapt-pkg-dev|libept-dev/
Good: .depends ~ /libapt-pkg4.12|libapt-inst1.4|libept1.4.12/
Bad: .depends ~ /libapt-pkg4.10|libapt-inst1.2|libept1\b/

But I'm not quite sure how to ensure that libept1 doesn't match a dependency
on libept1.4.12...

Hi Alejandro,

Thanks for your report.
I spoke with upstream a few minutes ago: today there will be a new
version of emesene.
In the meantime, for those who can't use emenese, here's a workaround:

- open file
/usr/share/emesene/emesene/e3/papylib/papyon/papyon/gnet/io/ssl_socket.py

- change the line

context = OpenSSL.Context(OpenSSL.SSLv23_METHOD)

into

context = OpenSSL.Context(OpenSSL.SSLv3_METHOD)

- start emesne

Cheers,
Fabrizio.

Me neither ... at least now I know *why* it breaks, because dvipsk-ja
installs a config file that has a4size as paper size, and all the others
a4, so the queried paper sizes differ, and thus another part is
executed in the libpaper.d/texlive-base script.

Frank, it is here:

Do you know why this breaks?

Honestly, I am not too sure about Copyright and all. I just guessed
it was copy-paste of the file header (I have been known to do that
myself) because I did not see a lot of resemblance with objdump-info.

Maybe some of the others know what the correct thing to do here. :)

No, At least the "hardening-no-stackprotector" can be triggered in a
perfectly safe program where the stack protector is not needed. We
worked around this in the test suite by ensuring there was a stack
that needed protection, but I would be very sad to see people do
the same in real programs.

If I understood you correctly in comment 44, then the protected
functions could have the same issue:

"""
For example, if the only function used was gethostname(), it's possible to
do compile-time verification to see that the _chk() version isn't needed,
so even though the source was built with -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2, the
unprotected function will be used.
"""

Actually, come to think of it - hardening-no-stackprotector smells a bit
like a "wild-guess" since we can only say if it is safe, not if it might
be vulnerable. Though "possible" -> "wild-guess" would change it from
a "W" to "I" tag (and therefore not visible by default).
The fortify functions code (in hardening-check) at least makes an
educated guess and marks it safe if there are no uses of "possible
vulnerable" functions (or if there are mixed uses). It may still be
wrong, but we will not get a false-positive if the binary do not use
any of the vulnerable functions.

Do anyone have comments on dropping the stack protector to wild-guess?

Bug#666894: octave-gdf: Adjust for the new octave package version 3.6.1

2012-04-02 Thread Rafael Laboissiere
Package: octave-gdf
Version: 0.1.2-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

The current version of libgdf in sid build-depends on octave3.2-headers.
This later package will be removed from unstable once the transition to
the new version of octave (currently 3.6.1) will be completed (see the
wiki page of the DOG [1]).

The libgdf package needs octave3.2-headers for including the makefile
fragment defs.make and for calling the octave-depends script that makes
the substitution of ${octave:Depends}. These files have been dropped in
the Debian packaging of Octave 3.6.1.

I am attaching below a patch for fixing the issues in this bug report.
The patch was obtained through debdiff. I added the corresponding entries
to debian/changelog. The octave-gdf package should now simply depend on
octave. Note that the octave-gdf package will, in fine, depend on
liboctave1, which will pull the appropriate version of octave (3.6.1-4,
currently).

I also added the files octave-gdf.docs and octave-gdf.examples to the
debian/ directory for installing the functions documentation and the
provided examples. I think that these are useful additions.

On the other hand, it is always helpful for the policy editor when a second
concerned developer read the proposal and second it. This allow to avoid typos

other minor errors that the editor is not in the best position to catch.

Uncompressed PDF is just a text file, isn't it? You can also easily
use any tool like InDesign to modify it if hand-editing PDF file by
hand sounds too complicated ;)

The document has been created with some ancient version of Star Office
(that's probably a predecessor of OpenOffice/LibreOffice, so there is
even a slight chance that it could be opened :). That source document
is not part of the zip, but even if it was it would probably be almost
useless since even if one would be able to open it, it would be a bit
difficult to convince Office to use the right version of font and the
right glyphs. (It would probably work after some time, but it would be
a nontrivial task.)

In principle it is trivial to reproduce the document (or even to just
copy-paste from PDF to Writer and fix some problems; or maybe
replicate the document in TeX), but I see no compelling reason to do
so. It is just work (trivial work) that takes time and doesn't bring
any benefit apart from being able to say that "we have the source now"
and resulting in a document just a tiny bit different from author's
original. Using common-sense, replicating the document is a less
friendly gesture towards the author than simply including the original
PDF. If anyone feels a need to do whatever changes in the document,
(s)he can always do that when the need arises.

The document contains 12 pages of a table with
(graphical symbol, character number, latin1 character to type,
PostScript name, German description, English description)
plus Author's contact information and some tiny examples at the end.

Do you *have* the old document? If yes, simply include it, it doesn't
cost you anything, and all the discussions are at end.

If you don't have it and it cannot be found, then we forget it
and do like you said.

Bug#661318: [PATCH 1/1] ata_piix: defer disks to the Hyper-V paravirtualised drivers by default Re: Possibility integrating newer Hyper-V paravirt drivers in squeeze?

When we are hosted on a Hyper-V hypervisor the guest disks are exposed
both via the Hyper-V paravirtualised drivers and via an emulated SATA disk
controller. We want to use the paravirtualised drivers where possible as
they are much more performant. The Hyper-V paravirtualised drivers only
expose the virtual hard disk devices, the CDROM/DVD devices must still
be enumerated on the virtualised SATA controller. As we have no control
over kernel probe order for these two drivers especially when one driver
is builtin to the kernel and the other a module, we need to prevent the
ata_piix driver from claiming the disks devices by default when running
on a Hyper-V hypervisor.

When enumerating the drives look at the aquired device ID and if it
appears to be a disk device then report it as disconnected. Limit this
behaviour to when we have detected a Hyper-V hypervisor. Finally allow
this behaviour to be overriden via a new module parameter.

This was discovered when doing some boot testing on a Hyper-V
host. Performance was found to be bad as out builtin ata_piix
driver was grabbing the disks. I am Cc:ing a couple of the
Microsoft people who worked on the HV driver set as well.

Note that the device id data is converted from device to host
order in the caller which makes examining the data problematic.
As this code only make sense on X86 and we know we are in
matching order we can access the data without first fixing it.
Alternativly we could add a new callback from the ata core
after the code has been fixed for validation.

maybe; but it still has pointers which mean that editing involves
replacing text without changing the text's length. it's not normally
considered a sane thing to do.

who's "you"? i've never even seen a copy of indesign; arguing from that
to saying that you don't need source in tl ... is a non-starter.

fine. we can hold the pdf on ctan, but tl won't take anything for which
there is no source.

Another issue is that no directories is provided for the system administrator to
put their local certs. Of course they can use /etc/ssl/certs, but then the
certs are
drowned by the number.

Bug#666896: synergy: Segfaults when moving over to host screen with cursor when clipboard is synced

2012-04-02 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek
Package: synergy
Version: 1.3.8-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
   * What led up to the situation?

For some reason, synergy started crashing after updating my system to
the latest testing state of affairs when I move the cursor to the
'other' system. Looking at the backtrace, it has to do with the
clipboard.

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

The whole app is becoming almost useless, as I can't find a workaround.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Crash.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

No crash :P

Bug#646208: Will to participate

2012-04-02 Thread Dominik George
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi Stefan,

like Arno and Sandro, I would love to participate in this project.

I have been running and deploying Apache installations for something
around 7 years now and also have some experience in Debian packaging,
mostly for local repositories but also conforming with Debian policies.

I have spent some time in Ubuntu bug wrangling and as a user as well, if
that comes in helpful, although I didn't really do a lot there because I
didn't like it much.

What I am up to is of yourse help maintain the Apache packaging, learn
more about its internals and find my way to become a Debain Maintainer
some time by first joining an active and friendly team.

Cheers,
Nik

Yes, that is the case ... I cannot find the proplematic template
in the debconf database.

I see ... reading debconf-devel I see
Note that if your package's sole use of debconf is in the postrm,
you should make your package's postinst source /usr/share/deb‐
conf/confmodule, to give debconf a chance to load up your templates
file into its database. Then the templates will be available when
   your package is being purged.
which hints at this problem ... trying now ...

Big thanks for your hints!!!

Best wishes

Thanks. I haven't experienced the bug in production in squeeze.

Tested with cups-pdf and some HP printers like 3030 and 1536dnf.

gs process goes nuts.

On cups-pdf printer status changes to "PDF file is damaged - attempting to

But after some long waiting output is created. (although affected by bug
#523269)

Hardware printers spit page with error messages, followed by lots of empty

Bisect blames the following commit (looks plausible to me):

libnm-glib: ensure bindings-created objects work as expected (rh #802536)

Bindings (like GObject Introspection) almost always create objects
using g_object_new() by default and don't use our helper functions
like nm_client_new(). Thus we need to make sure that if the
object is created in that way, any property accesses or functions
that return properties ensure that the object is fully initialized,
which is what the _new() functions were supposed to do. In one
case in NMClient that was missing (getting active connections)
and wasn't happening at all in NMRemoteSettings, which are our two
entry points into libnm-glib.

This allows this python+GI sequence to return the expected active
connection list:

from gi.repository import NMClient
nmclient = NMClient.Client(dbus_path='/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager')
active = nmclient.get_active_connections()
print(active)

where previously it returned an empty list because the NMClient
wasn't fully initialized by the time nm_client_get_active_connections()
was called.

Bug#665809: libdate-manip-perl: ParseDate breaks on non-existing times during DST change

2012-04-02 Thread Andy Spiegl
Hi Gregor,

thanks for your detailled answer.

> Ah, Date::Manip::Examples is interesting:
Interesting! I didn't know that.

However, unfortunately this isn't a solution with 6.11-1
because the result of the "parse" function returns "0" in this case.
(using a different invalid date returns "1" as it should)

Try
   print $err, "\n";
in your example:

#v+
#!/usr/bin/perl

use strict; use warnings;

use Date::Manip;

&Date_Init();

#my $functional_date = ParseDate("2012-03-25 at 02:11");

my $oo_date = new Date::Manip::Date;
my $err = $oo_date->parse("2012-03-25 at 02:11");

# should return "1" but v6.11-1 doesn't:
print $err, "\n";
#v-

So, there's no way to check if the date was valid or not.

I disagree in the case of 6.11-1. :-)

Thanks,
 Andy.

With that the build behaves differently depending on what automake

Description : Icinga Remote Plugin Executor Server

Nagios/Icinga is a host/service/network monitoring and management system.
 .
The purpose of this addon is to allow you to execute Nagios/Icinga plugins on a
remote host in as transparent a manner as possible.
 .
This program runs as a background process on the remote host and processes
command execution requests from the check_irpe plugin on the Nagios/Icinga
host.

irpe is a fork a nrpe which trys to fix several of the long outstanding bugs
like improper SSL Support. Unfortunatly
these new features make irpe incompatible to nrpe, therefore I plan to support
both - nrpe and irpe - in Debian.

No. .dpkg-meta.yml is a file produced by cme (Debian::Dpkg::Meta model [1]).
This file keeps user's customization (like e-mail replacement)

> But I guess Dominique will find a solution for this sorting issue :)

This is indeed a sorting issue ;-).

The test is curently too strict: it does compare the list of found files
while taking into account the order (which is irrelevant).

As they is another too-strict-test problem detected by Perl smoke tests
(with Perl 5.15), I'll fix this issue upstream.

All the best

I cannot reproduce this. On a just-updated squeeze clean chroot (6.0.4):

  root@PC-Ale:/# apt-get install libcurl3-gnutls
  Reading package lists... Done
  Building dependency tree
  Reading state information... Done
The following NEW packages will be installed:
libcurl3-gnutls

Need to get 266 kB of archives.
After this operation, 532 kB of additional disk space will be used.
  Get:1 http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates/main libcurl3-gnutls amd64
7.21.0-2.1+squeeze2 [266 kB]
  Fetched 266 kB in 0s (552 kB/s)
debconf: delaying package configuration, since apt-utils is not installed
  Selecting previously deselected package libcurl3-gnutls.
(Reading database ... 12952 files and directories currently installed.)
  Unpacking libcurl3-gnutls (from
.../libcurl3-gnutls_7.21.0-2.1+squeeze2_amd64.deb) ...
  Setting up libcurl3-gnutls (7.21.0-2.1+squeeze2) ...

Same for curl and libcurl3.

Does this happen only with curl packages? When was the last time you did an
apt upgrade (except this one, of course)?

Cheers

Bug#584881: Lockups under heavy disk IO; md (RAID) resync/check implicated

2012-04-02 Thread Tim Small
FWIW, I was only able to reproduce the problem which I was seeing on
lenny+openvz (running the same workload on lenny+chroot, or
squeeze+openvz didn't trigger it).

The fix you attached does sound like a plausible fix for the issue I was
seeing (having spent a day or two peering at the code and sprinkling
printks all over it, but not ultimately getting anywhere), but I don't
think I still have my test environment archived anywhere. If I remember
correctly, things always ended up deadlocking with 1 request sitting in
md's queue.

Tim.

Hi,

Could you help to verify #657490 (or reproduce it again) with version

I've taken the commit which should also fix this bug.

Thanks,

The diff between 3.4-rc1 and 3.2 for this driver is small, so probably
its worth applying this bug fixes and enabling it.

I believe that sandy bridge based architectures are going to be very
used during the debian wheezy reign.

I cannot reproduce this in a clean cowbuilder on sid/amd64.
Could you please provide a full log of the build?

there any reason against that (except working on a patch of course)?

Bug#658670: [3.0 -> 3.1 regression] 3w-9xxx abnormally slows the system down

2012-04-02 Thread Solomon Peachy
For what it's worth, this bug is not debian-specific, nor does it have
anything to do with XFS. I'm seeing a similar regression on Fedora
[15|16] systems. The bug was not present in the 3.0.x (or older)
kernels, but is still present in 3.1.x and 3.2.x. I haven't had a
chance to test 3.3.x yet.

My particular setup has a pair of 3Ware 9550SX cards plugged into PCI-X
slots on an Asus M2N-LR motherboard. I can provide more details if
necessary.

I haven't reported this problem upstream to Fedora or the kernel.org due
to an inability to save the kernel messages due to the system being
unusable, but in my case the kernel log is full of scsi command timeout
messages.

Hello,
iceweasel is also affected; in this case however it's the content of the

Downgrading to 1.10.2-7 fixes the issue.

No, I don't. We have to ask Martin Vogel for it (and he will probably
answer the same: that he doesn't see any compelling reason to include
it). I only know how it has been generated from what pdfinfo reports.

Me neither. But I still find it more difficult to modify marvosym.ttf
than marvosym.pdf.

(I'm sorry. I think that "one can" (german: "man kann") is more
suitable in English that "you can"; I sometimes translate literally
from my own language by accident.)

Transformation to TeX can be left as an exercise to the reader ;)
If somebody does it, I will happily include it in marvodoc.pdf.

Hmmm. I didn't realise that s390 was so limited in terms of CD
booting. Is it actually worth spending much time on s390 CDs?

Secondly - debian-cd doesn't make netboot images at all at the moment,
that's normally down to the d-i folks. We could do it, but it's
probably worth checking with them first.

Bug#666913: racoon: Do not return a failure when calling start and the daemon is running

2012-04-02 Thread Laurent Bigonville
Package: racoon
Version: 1:0.8.0-9
Severity: important

Hi,

The "start" function of the init script must not fail if the daemon is
already started.

Please see /etc/init.d/skeleton as an example.

Cheers

Laurent Bigonville
