Bug#767310: [Debian-l10n-devel] Bug#767310: Incomplete ftp.es.debian.org mirror
Quoting Christian PERRIER (bubu...@debian.org): Hmmm, it's obviously a remaining of the churro days. I'll switch to ftp.de.debian.org or maybe one of the various ways to get the best mirror from the local place that exist. Added to my TODO list. Bug#731859: debootstrap: variant=fakechroot fails
Hi josch, I am currently encountering the same problem with version: debootstrap 1.0.40~ubuntu0.7 using wheezy instead of sid and without using fakeroot fakechroot, but directly using sudo. the strange thing is that this exact same error comes when debootstrap is called from a script. But calling the same debootstrap command in a terminal finishes without any error. did you realize further investigation on this bug? Bug#766708: Request to override gcc maintainer changes breaking unsupported way of cross-building
On Wed, Oct 29, 2014 at 09:35:52AM +, Dimitri John Ledkov wrote: The libc*-$arch-cross packages come from rebuilds of glibc package. The major complaint being made here is that this process relies on out-of-archive code, whereas the unsupported alternative with_deps_on_target_arch_pkgs does not. All of which can be compiled trivially with Build-Depends / Build-Using: linux-source, gcc-4.x-source, glibc-source. FSVO trivially. In other words: This may work nicely on Ubuntu, but you may have missed that we're talking about Debian atm. No, it doesn't build on Debian (yet, but it is being worked on). [ Long parapgraph about how cross toolchains are supposed to work ] I do not disagree with the long term goal. I merely argue that it has not yet been achieved and that we should keep some legacy until then. This is why I asked a ruling to not apply beyond jessie. The proposed multiarched builds, are only good for one time out of the archive bootstraps, but in no way are supportable in the archive. Thanks for making my point: These multiarched builds are currently useful for doing architecture bootstraps. That's what I used them for. We try to avoid doing explicit prompts unless really _really_ important, we're not in such a case here… Till: What would you think of the above proposal? It kinda-makes sense for me: in CUPS 1.5 meaning, BrowseAllow all meant accept packets from anywhere, but in cups-browsed meaning, this is completely discarded, and the same meaning is achieved without any 'BrowseAllow' stanza. Bug#759348: cups-browsed: May hang for 30 seconds when restarted
Hi Brian, and thanks for your (as always) detailed and extensive bugreport. Le mardi, 26 août 2014, 16.46:33 Brian Potkin a écrit : On an up-to-date unstable version 1.0.55-1 of cups-browsed was installed. The journalctl records are shown for three commands. All three commands completed successfully immediately. (…) cups-browsed was updated to the present version. One noticable difference is that the third command hangs. Resisting the temptation to do CTL-C, it eventually completes. I can't reproduce this since CUPS 1.7.5-7, where CUPS' socket activation got disabled. I suspect having CUPS constantly running avoids entering this 30 seconds hang in restart, which I think points to CUPS time-to- die. If you can confirm that this behaviour disappeared, I suggest to leave the bug open but to retitle it to something like cups-browsed may hang during restart if CUPS is socket-triggered. Since it's declared, that systemd is not mandatory in Debian, the package must be installable (or what I did wrong?). It's declared that you don't need systemd as init system (systemd-sysv), depending on systemd itself is fine - you should adjust your blocks accordingly (it's like asking not to depend on dnsmasq since you don't like it, it's perfectly valid as a wishlist bug, but that's about it). I'm closing this since this since it's just another dependency, please reopen if you think otherwise. Another point here: polkit in wheezy doesn't depend on systemd but the jessie version does. So looking if we can make polkit's dependency on systemd optional - or offer a polkit compatible replacement in the long run would make the hard indirect dependency on systemd. I've also checked that (forcibly) removing polkit makes libvirt-daemon-system still work for uid 0. So we can run without polkit even with enabled polkit support. Bug#767330: gedit: Highlight mode selection not working via toolbar (vs statusbar)
Package: gedit Version: 3.14.0-2 Severity: normal Tags: upstream Dear Maintainer, I pasted scilab code into a new gedit window, creating Unsaved Document 1. The highlighting wasn't automatically detected (desired behavior I assume) so I wanted proper Scilab highighting activated. I selected from the top menu-button: View Highlight Mode... Searching and selection was working in the pop-up, but after choosing 'Select' (top-right) nothing changed. The statusbar (bottom) still indicated plain-text and so was the Hightlight Mode menu when revisited via the menu-bar. Selection via the statusbar indicator did however turn out to work fine. Having selected Scilab highlighting in this way, the menu via the top menu-botton now showed Scilab as selected as well. Trying to revert highlighting to Plain text (as a test) from the top-menu failed, but it did from the statusbar. -- Package-specific info: Active plugins: - 'spell' - 'modelines' - 'docinfo' - 'time' - 'filebrowser' No plugin installed in $HOME. Bug#766937: apparmor-profiles: Patch - abstraction profile for desktop themes and images
Hi, parspes wrote (30 Oct 2014 00:46:38 GMT) : This access is neccessary for many GUI programs when Gnome is not installed. It would be useful to provide at least one specific example. I agree that it should be added to some other abstractions if needed. The idea occurred to me that the code should have been in the Freedesktop.org abstraction, or perhaps just a generic desktop abstraction. Makes sense. Care to submit a patch upstream about it? Best would be to submit a Launchpad pull request against http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~apparmor-dev/apparmor/master/ but sending a patch (against current Bazaar) to appar...@lists.ubuntu.com would work too. In the 3.3+ versions those were converted into unhandled exception errors with a more useful log message, and the identified exceptions were fixed in 3.4. So I expect this particular behavior will not be seen again, there will likely be a different report with more useful details if the bug causing it is still present. Perhapse we can close the bug? Bug#767173: gnome-shell: Display freezes but mouse stays operational
Ok, I've found out more and now can reproduce the bug reliably every time. How to reproduce this bug: 1. reboot computer 2. start Root Terminal 3. type `gedit` in this root terminal to start it (I guess any other program will do to, but I haven't tested it) 4. click on Activities OR move mouse into the upper left magic corner The display freeze happens exactly at the time of clicking the mouse or arriving at the upper left corner. Killing applications from another TTY will NOT remove their windows from TTY7. /var/log/syslog will now be flooded with the following messages over and over (I have thousands of them in /var/log/syslog): Oct 30 10:45:36 michael-debian gnome-session[1961]: (gnome-shell:2069): dconf-CRITICAL **: unable to create file '/run/user/1000/dconf/user': Permission denied. dconf will not work properly. These bug reports seem to be related: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=956306 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=732209 Marcus, I also experienced the display freeze when right-clicking on the Desktop, but I could recover from these freezes by pressing Alt+F2 and exiting the popup window again. The bug I'm describing here is definitely NOT the issue you are mentioning, because with this type of freeze I'm reporting, Alt+F2 doesn't react, and also the keyboard is frozen. The way the log rotation integrates with external log management tools is that Squid leaves the external tool to do file renaming or moving, and just re-opens the filedescriptors it has for the log files. So the logs have been changed successfully by logrotated. But the squid binary is asserting at some point in the followup process. The assertion seems to be caused by memory management for some globals allocated for the ICAP services. Bug#767342: jemalloc: Allocator profiling capabilities should be enabled
Source: jemalloc Severity: wishlist Tags: patch Jemalloc comes with a handful of very useful allocator profiling/diagnostic capabilities, that will be extremely useful when trying to debug some memory leak in a running production application. In order to do this, it is needed that jemalloc is built with the --enable-prof configure switch. Note that the profiling capabilities are disabled by default, so that enabling this does not cause any practical performance overhead. Users may decide to enable it by using the MALLOC_CONF variable or the /etc/malloc.conf config file. I don't think there is any good reason not to enable this by default in debian. The patch I include will accomplish just that. Package: libvirt-daemon Version: 1.2.9-3 Severity: minor Hi, I haven't had any VM on system in use for quite some time. However after trying to start up virt-manager I got notification that libvirt-daemon is not running. SymbolTable directly extends Hash, but it stores all keys internally as symbols. Any key that cannot be converted to a Symbol is not valid. . While this may seem restrictive, it does have the nice side effect of making all keys slightly more memorable and usable. For example, values may be set and retrieved using any key that resolves to the same symbol. Note: Just like ruby-raemon, this is a dependency of Fuel which I am currently packaging. This is a major regression. Many users may be affected. That's exactly what I was trying to evaluate :) It's rather difficult to say about users. One can already look at software using XML files that may be affected by the bug. I've done a quick search on 'ENTITY.*SYSTEM' on the few sources that are present on my machine (this concerns only some software I needed to build or look at). I suppose that gdm documentation is affected: gdm/docs/C has: * index.docbook which contains: !DOCTYPE article PUBLIC -//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.1.2//EN http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/xml/4.1.2/docbookx.dtd; [ !ENTITY legal SYSTEM legal.xml !ENTITY version 2.26.0 !ENTITY date02/10/2009 !ENTITY mdash #8212; !ENTITY percnt #x0025; ] * legal.xml which contains: legalnotice id=legalnotice so that I suppose that the bug would appear on it. The consequences depend on what is done with this, but using the buggy libxml2 version would make this DocBook file appear as invalid. Ideally validation should really be done at build time and/or with make check, so that if everything is done correctly, you can consider this like a build failure. -- Vincent Lefèvre vinc...@vinc17.net - Web: https://www.vinc17.net/ 100% accessible validated (X)HTML - Blog: https://www.vinc17.net/blog/ Work: CR INRIA - computer arithmetic / AriC project (LIP, ENS-Lyon) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#763744: [Pkg-samba-maint] Bug#763744: samba: Huge number of samba panic messages

Could you please forward this upstream? (This bug still appears as Unclassified in BTS web pages) It's probably best if you submit a bug yourself in the upstream bug tracker: https://bugzilla.samba.org/ I ended up doing that, yes: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10907 But frankly, I expected the Debian samba maintainers to do that (as I try to do for the bugs I receive). It's probably best if people would not have to report things twice. Thanks. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#767356: X.Org segfaults when starting on an Intel+Radeon laptop at glamor_set_screen_pixmap from within radeon_drv
Package: xserver-xorg-core Version: 2:1.16.1-1 Severity: important I have got hp zbook 14 with has Intel IGP + Radeon GPU. In pursue of enabling access to the display ports on the docking station installed 3.17 kernel and fresh intel driver. With xrandr --setprovideroffloadsink radeon Intel xrandr --setprovideroutputsource radeon Intel made those display ports visible but they showed just gray, and when I switched one of them back to onboard display port, the other one on docking station started to show some garbled image (just colored stripes/dots). Then when I turned it off (in gnome3 display settings), the entire X crashed. I have by now rebooted few times but every time Xorg just segfaults upon boot, so some stale settings bring it into the mysery and I can't even use it (besides logging in like now via ssh). Any recipe for help/remedy would be welcomed It seems to differ from the similar case https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=761445 Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) Backtrace: Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) 0: /usr/bin/Xorg (xorg_backtrace+0x56) [0x7f24f4c08ab6] Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) 1: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x7f24f4a53000+0x1b9c99) [0x7f24f4c0cc99] Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) 2: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (0x7f24f2748000+0x350f0) [0x7f24f277d0f0] Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) 3: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglamoregl.so (glamor_set_screen_pixmap+0x60) [0x7f24ecfc23b0] Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) 4: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglamoregl.so (glamor_egl_create_textured_screen+0xa0) [0x7f24ecfbf060] Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) 5: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglamoregl.so (glamor_egl_create_textured_screen_ext+0x3d) [0x7f24ecfbf13d] Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) 6: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.so (0x7f24ee42f000+0x4c48c) [0x7f24ee47b48c] Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) 7: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.so (0x7f24ee42f000+0x44e0a) [0x7f24ee473e0a] Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) 8: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x7f24f4a53000+0xcbbfe) [0x7f24f4b1ebfe] Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) 9: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x7f24f4a53000+0x5aed4) [0x7f24f4aaded4] Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) 10: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xf5) [0x7f24f2769b45] Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) 11: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x7f24f4a53000+0x4550e) [0x7f24f4a9850e] Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) Segmentation fault at address 0x1c Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: Fatal server error: Oct 30 08:32:38 hopa gdm-Xorg-:5[1495]: (EE) Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault).
