Bug#280844: apt: apt-get source mozilla-firefox mangles existing orig.tar.gz
Matt Zimmerman [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: The fact that it insists on downloading it again is a known bug (I believe it's even in debbugs somewhere), but the fact that it gets the download wrong is fairly odd. It's not actually downloading it again; it just takes a little while doing a checksum or something I guess, then mangles the orig.tar.gz and moves it to the *.FAILED file. What's going on with the (diff) download? What kind of HTTP server is on the other end? There was a new chunked-encoding bug filed recently. The diff download has no problems, neither the original one nor the subsequent checksum-checking or whatever. The HTTP server was rama.progeny.com, where a quick test returns Server: Apache/1.3.26 (Unix). -- Daniel Schepler Please don't disillusion me. reopen 290221 thanks Sorry, I meant the patch file as a patch to be applied against the source package, not a file to be dropped into debian/patches. Bug#297275: beast: Get rid of terminal mangling
Tim Janik [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: On Mon, 28 Feb 2005, Daniel Schepler wrote: Package: beast Severity: wishlist Version: 0.6.2-3 When I build beast, the configure stage outputs some escape sequences: checking whether i386-linux-gcc supports -fno-keep-static-consts... yes ^[(B^[)0^[[?1049h^[[1;24r^[[m^O^[[4l^[[?7h^[[24;1H^[[?1049l^M^[[?1l^[checking whether i386-linux-gcc supports -fmessage-length=80... yes At least with konsole, this causes the terminal to update only the bottom line as the rest of the compilation happens, which is pretty annoying. this sounds like a bug in your konsole setup then. configure.in simply executes: #include stdio.h #include curses.h int main() { FILE *f=fopen(conftestval, w); int c; if (!f) exit(1); initscr(); c = COLS; endwin(); fprintf(f, %d\n,c); exit(0); } so any characters appearing are being put out by ncurses. that in turn uses escape sequences from the terminal description of your TERM environment variable which should match the capability set of konsole. I just tried running xterm and cat'ing the build log to the terminal, and the same thing happened there (konsole sets TERM=xterm). Maybe the trigger here is that I'm running the build under pbuilder (which redirects stdin to /dev/null) with stdout and stderr redirected to a pipe. -- Daniel Schepler Please don't disillusion me. Bug#437803: ddd: data display suppresses structure members named 'table'

This makes it often unnecessary difficult to analyze problems. When using the 'print' function in the gdb console, I can see 'table' members. So I can be sure it is 'ddd' who steals these members. Can you please drop the suppression of 'table' memebers, or at least make it an option? I just wrote a test program with a 'table' member of a struct, and it showed up fine here. Could you send me a sample program which triggers the bug for you? Also, could you try using 'display ...' under gdb (on the console, not running under ddd) and see if the 'table' members show up there? -- Daniel Schepler -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#425897: Still FTBFS (usually) for me
On Saturday 25 August 2007 01:19:43 am Dario Minnucci (midget) wrote: Hi Daniel, First of all, I didn't see any of your comments to the bug before it was closed, because you never CC'd me or 425897-submitter... Very sorry. My fault. :( With the latest version, the package still failed to build for me. I had a look at the tests, and it appears that at least linux-ext2.t runs df and compares the results with the results from the Perl module. This is just begging for a race condition, though, and that's probably what's causing it to FTBFS on my system. Can you try to rebuild the package in a different machine and post a breif report. Sorry for the delay. Cheers. Hmm... on my new amd64 machine, under pbuilder it skips the linux-ext2.t test, and the build succeeds. But if I build it in the root filesystem with dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot, it fails with the same message as on my old i386 machine. -- Daniel Schepler -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#431608: g++-4.2: Abysmal performance compiling python-qt3
On Wednesday 25 July 2007 11:22:13 am Matthias Klose wrote: Daniel Schepler writes: It looks like the original bug message didn't get forwarded to debian-gcc, possibly because it included a large preprocessed source file. So I'm sending this followup to call attention to the bug report. Briefly, g++-4.2 is taking over 20 minutes to compile a source file from python-qt3 (and I don't actually know whether it ever finishes), where g++-4.1 takes under 2 minutes. please could you recheck with gcc-snapshot (and attach the preprocessed source)? Bug#414704: gcc-3.3 et al incorrectly marked as Build-Essential: yes in etch and sid
On Sunday 07 October 2007 10:37:33 am Thomas Viehmann wrote: Hi Daniel, are you sure that Build-Essential is handled in the way your bug report seems to suggest? Yes, debootstrap --variant=buildd installs all packages with Priority: required or Build-Essential: yes. Look at /usr/lib/debootstrap/scripts/sid for example. Also, I don't think build-essential does pull in gcc-3.3 these days. This bug seems to have been fixed in sid; I'm not sure about etch. -- Daniel Schepler -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
