Bug#304629: callgrind: FTBFS: Missing Build-Depends

2005-04-14 Thread Daniel Schepler
Package: callgrind
Severity: serious
Version: 0.9.11-1
Tags: patch

From my build log, using pbuilder in an i386 chroot:

...
checking for valgrind installation... in /usr
checking for valgrind version... valgrind-2.4.0
checking for CFLAGS to use for valgrind tools... ./configure: line 3584:
pkg-config: command not found

checking if compiling a valgrind tool is possible... configure: error: No. Is a
valgrind-dev package missing?
make: *** [config.status] Error 1

Adding pkg-config to the Build-Depends allows the package to compile.

Bug#304643: libgconf-java: FTBFS: Cannot find gtk2.6-2.6.0.jar

This is probably due to the clean target running make clean instead
of make distclean, which leaves behind .deps directories referring
to the old jar file in the source package.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that

At one time I was able to reproduce the gwydion-dylan build failure on
i386, but now I can't; just today it built successfully under
pbuilder. You can probably close this bug now.

Since dpkg-source doesn't preserve permissions on files created by the

before that, or directly invoke sh debian/libtool_clean.sh
debian/tmp.

Probably either you're missing a Build-Depends on libltdl3-dev, or
there's a missing -I flag in there.

Bug#280844: apt: apt-get source mozilla-firefox mangles existing orig.tar.gz

2005-01-13 Thread Daniel Schepler
Matt Zimmerman [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

 The fact that it insists on downloading it again is a known bug (I believe
 it's even in debbugs somewhere), but the fact that it gets the download
 wrong is fairly odd.

It's not actually downloading it again; it just takes a little while
doing a checksum or something I guess, then mangles the orig.tar.gz
and moves it to the *.FAILED file.

 What's going on with the (diff) download? What kind of HTTP server is on
 the other end? There was a new chunked-encoding bug filed recently.

The diff download has no problems, neither the original one nor the
subsequent checksum-checking or whatever. The HTTP server was
rama.progeny.com, where a quick test returns Server: Apache/1.3.26
(Unix).

Bug#290622: dbus: Build QT bindings

2005-01-15 Thread Daniel Schepler
Package: dbus
Severity: wishlist
Version: 0.23-1

The upcoming 3.4 version of KDE has support for HAL and dbus, but it
needs the QT bindings for dbus to compile this support. So it would
be nice if the QT support I see is in the orig.tar.gz file would be
compiled.

Bug#290221: Incorrectly patched

2005-01-16 Thread Daniel Schepler
reopen 290221
thanks

Sorry, I meant the patch file as a patch to be applied against the
source package, not a file to be dropped into debian/patches. Right
now, the patch is just creating debian/patches/04_amd64_asm_fix.diff
in build-tree/SDL-*/, so it's not actually fixing the problem.

 Can you clarify exactly what you mean here please?
 Are you just manually altering the /usr/bin/gcc symlink or what?

Actually, I was using a locally modified version of gcc-defaults to
change all the versions to 3.4, using the patch from bug #260309.

 this sounds like a bug in your konsole setup then. configure.in simply
 executes:
  #include stdio.h
  #include curses.h
  int main()
  {
  FILE *f=fopen(conftestval, w);
  int c;
  if (!f) exit(1);
  initscr();
  c = COLS;
  endwin();
  fprintf(f, %d\n,c);
  exit(0);
  }
 so any characters appearing are being put out by ncurses.
 that in turn uses escape sequences from the terminal description of
 your TERM environment variable which should match the capability set
 of konsole.

I just tried running xterm and cat'ing the build log to the terminal,
and the same thing happened there (konsole sets TERM=xterm). Maybe
the trigger here is that I'm running the build under pbuilder (which
redirects stdin to /dev/null) with stdout and stderr redirected to a
pipe.

reopen 296976

thanks

Unfortunately, today's upload of sgml2x didn't fix the problem. To
get a similar error outside a chroot, I can run 'dpkg-buildpackage
... /dev/null', which causes elinks to output an error message

ELinks: Unknown file type

Running strace on elinks with this redirection shows that it's trying
to find a terminal or something on /dev/stdin, which is definitely bad
behavior for -dump mode.

Found 1 system error and issued 1 warning:

When I built a version of ecj with s/4.1/4.2/g and s/gcj7/gcj8/g, the simple
test program, as well as db*-java and antlr which failed before for the same
reason, all compiled successfully. So I'm going to clone this bug, assign
one copy to ecj, and leave this one here to remind you to tighten the
dependency on ecj once a new version is uploaded to experimental.

Bug#443929: gcc-4.2: Should downgrade libmudflap-dev to Suggests

2007-09-24 Thread Daniel Schepler
Package: gcc-4.2
Version: 4.2.1-5
Severity: normal

Since libmudflap0-4.2-dev is not used in the normal use case for gcc, it
doesn't seem to me to satisfy the criterion for Recommends that it should be
installed with gcc-4.2 in all but unusual installations.

Also, with the corresponding Recommends in gcc-4.1, it is currently impossible
to satisfy the Recommends for both gcc-4.1 and gcc-4.2 simultaneously, which
would conflict with the (proposed?) release goal of making all Recommends
satisfiable within main.

Bug#437803: ddd: data display suppresses structure members named 'table'

 When debugging MySQL code, I often miss the member 'table' in
 structures/classes. This makes it often unnecessary difficult to analyze
 problems. When using the 'print' function in the gdb console, I can see
 'table' members. So I can be sure it is 'ddd' who steals these members.

 Can you please drop the suppression of 'table' memebers, or at least
 make it an option?

I just wrote a test program with a 'table' member of a struct, and it showed
up fine here. Could you send me a sample program which triggers the bug for
you?

Also, could you try using 'display ...' under gdb (on the console, not running
under ddd) and see if the 'table' members show up there?

It appears that qmake unconditionally runs $(QMAKE_STRIP) on installed

will work around this undesirable behavior. (See bug #437868, for example.)

It looks like those references to internal implementation details could be
replaced by calls to httpGetField. But after that, I also ran into problems
in kdeprint/cups/ipprequest.cpp, where I'm not quite sure how to handle
the lines dealing with authentication strings -- the API functions I found
also want the authentication scheme as an argument.

Bug#438668: util-linux: Still has arch.1 manpage

2007-08-18 Thread Daniel Schepler
Package: util-linux
Version: 2.13~rc3-5
Severity: minor

As the subject says: when the arch util was removed, the arch.1 manpage was
left in the package. If it was intentional to leave it in as a redirection
to uname -m, you should probably at least note the fact that it's been
removed and won't work anymore.

Bug#438106: avifile: FTBFS: No longer builds on amd64.

2007-08-19 Thread Daniel Schepler
Instead of using -Navifile-win32-plugin to fix the FTBFS on non-i386 archs,
why not use -s instead? With that you won't need the special section to
handle avifile-win32-plugin explicitly on i386.

Bug#425897: Still FTBFS (usually) for me

 Hi Daniel,

  First of all, I didn't see any of your comments to the bug before it was
  closed, because you never CC'd me or 425897-submitter...

 Very sorry. My fault. :(

  With the latest version, the package still failed to build for me. I had
  a look at the tests, and it appears that at least linux-ext2.t runs df
  and compares the results with the results from the Perl module. This is
  just begging for a race condition, though, and that's probably what's
  causing it to FTBFS on my system.

 Can you try to rebuild the package in a different machine and post a breif
 report.

 Sorry for the delay.

 Cheers.

Hmm... on my new amd64 machine, under pbuilder it skips the linux-ext2.t test,
and the build succeeds. But if I build it in the root filesystem with
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot, it fails with the same message as on my old
i386 machine.

Bug#431608: g++-4.2: Abysmal performance compiling python-qt3

 Also, I don't think build-essential does pull in gcc-3.3 these days.

This bug seems to have been fixed in sid; I'm not sure about etch.

I've reproduced this on both i386 and amd64, but it doesn't appear to
happen with gstreamer0.10 binary packages from the Debian archive.

Adding gcc-multilib to the Build-Depends allows the package to build
successfully. (And ia32-libs appears to be unnecessary.)

Bug#434203: Patch for unixodbc failure

2007-07-25 Thread Daniel Schepler
The relevant part of the build log appears to be (from the main configure
output):

...
checking for g++ option to produce PIC... -fPIC
checking if g++ PIC flag -fPIC works... no
checking if g++ static flag -static works... no
checking if g++ supports -c -o file.o... no
...

I've attached a patch which fixes the compilation for me. (Although it
directly patches configure, so I won't tag the bug +patch.)

Bug#442313: abntex: texlive-latex-recommended is insufficient for Build-Depends

2007-09-14 Thread Daniel Schepler
Package: abntex
Version: 0.9~beta2-2
Severity: serious

From my pbuilder build log, forcing it to use texlive-latex-recommended instead
of tetex-extra:

...

...
mv /tmp/buildd/abntex-0.9~beta2/compiled.docs/*.dvi

A quick search shows that file is in texlive-latex-extra. I also noticed some
missing font errors such as dsfont, which are in texlive-fonts-extra.

+obsolete libkpathsea4-dev.  Closes: #429681.
+ * Also reorder dependencies to make texlive the default over tetex.
+ * Fix linking against libkpathsea. Closes: #430175.
+ * Urgency medium for RC bug fixes.
