The problem is that kwave build-depends on automake1.7, but invokes
aclocal from Makefile.dist. Having automake1.7 installed does not
guarantee that the aclocal command is the version from automake1.7.
Please update this Makefile.dist to call aclocal by the correct name for
Debian systems, aclocal-1.7.

This package is likely to be the last blocker for the transition to
libflac6 in sarge, and we probably won't wait for it to be ready before
transitioning the remaining packages; the sooner someone uploads a fix
for this, the sooner kwave will get back into sarge.

I am a Debian testing user which has used Multisync Evolution plugin and
IRMC plugin to sync everything between Evolution and cellphone. Testing
has still Evo 1.4.6 while the latest version of the Evolution plugin in Debian
testing is for Evolution 2.

Unfortunately this version mismatch completely prevents the plugin from
recognising Evolution Calendar, Addressbook and Tasks databases (plugin
says I have no calendar, no addressbook and no tasks and the selector
does not make any alternative label available), so
that my sync needs (Evo - cellphone is completely broken now.

I even
have missed meetings before realizing my sync (on which I had
established a remarkable reliance) had _completely_ stopped.

Justification: renders package unusable

I could not get Evolution-2.0 calendar synchronized with any other plugin,
namely with libmultisync-plugin-irmc-bluetooth nor with
libmultisync-plugin-backup.
If I try to set personal calendar -- synchronizations gives unknown error,
if I try to synchronize with birthday or No calendar calendar -- it crashed
with segfault.

Moreover, synchronization of contacts results in creation of multiple copies
of contacts, where evolution-2.0 does not show some of the phone numbers..
Here I suspect that Evolution has problems displaying contacts correctly or
incapable of correctly communicating to evolution-data-server.

If you are using Evolution calendar, I advise not to install Evolution-2.0 yet.

Bug#294454: gnupg 1.4.0 does not work

Hi,

the new gnupg package for version 1.4.0 doesn't work on my

 gpg: checking the trustdb

this makes gpg unusable for me.
 Is this a know issue?

Just have a look at the look at ~/.gnupg . Is there still a
trustdb.gpg.lock from a further gnupg --check-trustdb run, which
has been died without removing it's lock file, or another gnupg
running in parallel?

Do you mean that the cjk-latex Debian package is broken? Then please
file a bug against it, with an appropriate severity (if it's really
unusable, I'd say grave). We do not want to release sarge with a broken

My bug report #169286 is 2 years and 86 days old,

Sorry, I missed it, because I had expected an important or grave

 perhaps has been solved already.

It seems so, since the version in sarge and sid contains a file called

which is 2 years and 115 days old.

It seems the cjk-latex maintainer isn't the most active one. If I find
time, I'll have a look into this.

Do you mean that the cjk-latex Debian package is broken? Then
please file a bug against it, with an appropriate severity (if

My bug report #169286 is 2 years and 86 days old, although the problem
 perhaps has been solved already.

Has actually the tag woody. Dunno, why the bug was not closed if
there is a fixed version in unstable/testing.

The example quoted there fails now now for a different reason,
described in bug report #165350, which is 2 years and 115 days old.

Please also note that the bug #285198 reported by Hilmar Preusse is
 still open.

Well, it just came to my attention by chance.

Well in summary: 10 bugs. That is not that much in comparison to
tetex-* ;-).

Bug#294544: sfs-server: enables any user to manipulate any file exported from the server, ignoring permissions

2005-02-10 Thread Alex Mauer
Package: sfs-server
Version: 1:0.8-0+pre20041016.1-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: user security hole

I created a file owned by root on the sfs server, permissions rw-r--r--.
Ran sfskey login to my non-root server account, I was able to remove the file.
Tested this for non-root users as well: any user can remove any other users
file.

Thanks, contact synchronization got significantly improved in 0..82-5.
But I still cannot re-synchronize (synchronize 1 times) evolution

change Data type to synchronize on the sync pair options sheet.
Also I noticed that after unsuccessful synchronization I need to click

Bug#294501: php4-pgsql: php4-psql causes apache to segfault upon startup

xenon:/etc/php4/apache# dpkg -s php4-imap
Package: php4-imap
Status: install ok installed
Priority: optional
Section: web
Installed-Size: 111
Maintainer: Adam Conrad [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Version: 4:4.3.10-2
Replaces: php4-cgi-imap

I just apt-get dist-upgrade'd my system, and symptoms are still exactly
the same.

I've included versions of the dependencies listed above for your
reference

ii libc-client2002edebian 2002edebian1-6 UW c-client library for
mail protocols
ii libc62.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared

ii libpam0g 0.76-22 Pluggable Authentication
Modules library
ii libssl0.9.7 0.9.7e-2 SSL shared libraries

After reading back through the numerous other similar archived reports
for php4-imap, I installed libapache-mod-ssl to see what effect that
would have. Surprise surprise, if I load mod_ssl (even if it's not being
used), apache doesn't segfault, even with the imap and pgsql modules
enabled.

Bug#288882: blender: FTBFS when using sudo

2005-02-10 Thread Florian Ernst
Dear Hatta-san,

I'd really really like to see blender 2.35 (and possibly later 2.36)
get into Sarge, but the build failures on mips and mipsel so far
prevent this, as addressed in Bug#22.

I've prepared the attached interdiff, partially following Frank's
proposal, which according to my local tests solves that problem.
Please give your blessing to a NMU.
Also find attached the debdiff output between 2.35-1 from the archive
and the version I prepared, 2.35-1.1. Additionally both debs give the
same result on a lintian run, so IMHO there won't be any regressions.

Furthermore the new diff.gz seems to apply cleanly to upstream's 2.36,
so perhaps I could upload a 2.36-0.1 once 2.35 reaches Sarge, please
see Bug#23 for my rationale...

What do you think about those two NMU proposals?

Cheers,

This bug prevents gfs from entering testing, you have to use unstable.

Package: mailman
Version: 2.1.5-5
Severity: normal

currently (2.1.5-5) mailman's Build-Depends line is as follows:

Build-Depends: debhelper (= 4.1.16), autoconf, python-dev, dpatch

however trying to build mailman from source with dpatch 2.0.2 yielded:

applying patch 02_CAN-2004-1177_driver_css to ./
.../usr/share/dpatch/dpatch-run: /usr/share/dpatch/dpatch-run: No such file or
directory

it looks like dpatch-run wasn't added until dpatch 2.0.9

upgrading to dpatch 2.0.10 solved this problem for me, but technically
there should be a versioned build-depends there

Hi,

the profile.py module has been removed from the python2.3 = 2.3.5-1
since it is non-free. Now I get errors starting apps using twistd:
$ /etc/init.d/apt-proxy start
Starting apt-proxyTraceback (most recent call last):

  File /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/twisted/application/app.py, line 21,

import sys, os, pdb, profile, getpass, traceback, signal
ImportError: No module named profile

I suggest disabling the profile import in twistd.

  Bastian

Just have a look at the look at ~/.gnupg . Is there still a

 running in parallel?

of fcuk the lock file was the problem. so sorry for the

package, and send us the output?

Thanks,

Package: gnupg
Version: 1.4.0-2
Severity: grave
Hi,
the new gnupg package for version 1.4.0 doesn't work on my
system. With mutt gpg is not able to decrypt messages. But
if I try to enrypt a local file gpg hangs after decryption
with this message:
gpg: checking the trustdb
gpg: waiting for lock (held by 5163 - probably dead) ...
gpg: waiting for lock (held by 5163 - probably dead) ...

but the process 5163 is not running.
this makes gpg unusable for me.
Is this a know issue?
Regards Nico

Bug#293207: bogofilter: last two versions caused db errors

2005-02-10 Thread Clint Adams
Can you provide the configuration you use with exim to plug bogofilter
in? I am particularly interested because version 4.34-10 of exim
depends on libdb3 and exim 4.44-2 depends on libdb4.2 so I am curious
to know if exim uses libdb to interface with bogofilter in any way.

 micah

I can use libdb - but I'm not using any db lists.

That's an interesting question; maybe you should try the exim in
project/experimental, which is linked against libdb4.2.

Your kernel lacks tmpfs support, but apparently does not behaves like
older kernels.
Please run these commands and report what happens:

mkdir /tmp/test1
mount -n -o size=5M,mode=0755 -t ramfs none /tmp/test1
mkdir /tmp/test2
mount -n -o size=5M,mode=0755 -t tmpfs none /tmp/test2
cp /etc/group /tmp/test/file

Please also send the .config file of the running kernel and the content
of /proc/filesystems .

Uh, thanks, haven't built the package in a chroot yet

Bug#294121: Dependencies on libdiscover2 and discover-date missing

see if there are other problems before uploading.
A small one. /etc/discover.conf.d/00discover is in libdiscover2. So
the behaviour of discover (and discover-modprobe) is very different if
libdiscover2 is installed or not.

Both cron scripts are broken in 1.3.6-10 on sarge . The weekly script has 3
typos
which breaking the script. The daily script has one typo which leads to the
sitution
that the condition to run the script can be never true. The second fail is that
the
$RUNSCRIPT $PARAM instruction is in the wrong place (IMHO). This leads to the
situation
(in the case run_htnotify is set to false) that the script runs but don't
executes
rundig.

But I'm not very familiar with shell scrpiting, please confirm this.

Bug#293932: [Python-Dev] license issues with profiler.py and md5.h/md5c.c

2005-02-10 Thread Donovan Baarda

One thing to consider is degree of difficulty :-)

  Matthias

I believe the plan for md5 and sha1 and such is to use the much
faster openssl versions in the future (based on a long thread
debating future interfaces to such things on python-dev last summer).
That'll sidestep any tedious license issue and give a better
implementation at the same time. i don't believe anyone has taken the
time to make such a patch yet.

I wasn't around for that discussion. There are two viable replacements
for the RSA implementation currently used;

libmd http://www.penguin.cz/~mhi/libmd/
openssl http://www.openssl.org/.

The libmd implementation is by Colin Plumb and has the licence; This
code is in the public domain; do with it what you wish. The API is
identical to the RSA implementation and BSD world's libmd and hence is a
drop in replacement. This implementation is faster than the RSA
implementation.

The openssl implementation has an apache style license. The API is
almost the same but slightly different to the RSA API, so it would
require a little bit of work to make it fit. This implementation is the
fastest currently available, as it includes many platform specific
optimisations for a large range of platforms.

Currently md5c.c is included in the python sources. The libmd
implementation has a drop in replacement for md5c.c. The openssl
implementation is a complicated tangle of Makefile expanded template
code that would be harder to include in the Python sources.

In the Linux world, openssl is starting to become ubiquitous, so not
including it and statically or even dynamically linking against it is
feasible. However, using Python in other lands will probably require
something to be included.

Long term, I think openssl is the way to go. Short term, libmd is a
painless replacement that gets around the licencing issues.

I have been using the libmd API stuff for md4 in librsync, and am
looking at migrating to the openssl API. If people hassle me, I could
probably do the openssl API migration for Python, but I'm not sure what
the best approach would be to including the source in Python sources.

FWIW, I also have an md4sum module and md4c.c implementation that I'm
happy to contribute to Python (done for pysysnc).

My bad, how about M2Crypto http://sandbox.rulemaker.net/ngps/m2/
then? This one supports message digests and is more license compatible

Only problem with this, is pyopenssl doesn't yet include any mdX or sha
  modules.

My bad, how about M2Crypto http://sandbox.rulemaker.net/ngps/m2/
then? This one supports message digests and is more license compatible
 with Python to boot.

This one does have md5 support, but the Python API is rather different
from the current python md5sum API. It hooks into the slightly higher
level MVP openssl layer, rather than the lower level md5 layer. Hooking
into the MVP layer pretty much requires including all the openssl
message digest implementations (which may or may not be a good idea).

It also uses SWIG to generate the extension module. I don't think
anything else in Python itself uses SWIG, so starting to use it would
introduce a Build Dependency.

I think it would be cleaner and simpler to modify the existing
md5module.c to use the openssl md5 layer API (this is just a
search/replace to change the function names). The bigger problem is
deciding what/how/whether to include the openssl md5 implementation
sources so that win32 can use them.

Thinking about it, probably the best way is to include the libmd md5c.c
modified to use the openssl API, and then use configure to check for and
use openssl if it is available. That way win32 could use the provided
md5c.c, and other platforms could use the faster openssl.
