Bug#298955: gnurobbo: contains non-free font
Dnia 13-03-2005, nie o godzinie 00:23 +0100, Frank Lichtenheld napisa(a): I've prepared an example patch for this (attached). The patch is not fully tested with regard to time-skew issues due to the Makefile.* changes. The fact that you also need to prepare a orig.tar.gz without the font file is of course also not reflected in the patch. I've contacted the upstream author so he would replace the font in upstream package. l. -- http://honey.7thGuard.net

Bug#298967: NMU to fix non-free font RC bug
tags 298967 - fixed tags 298967 + sid quit On Sat, Mar 12, 2005 at 06:22:42PM -0600, Micah Anderson wrote: I am uploading a revised version of this package that removes the non-free font to close this RC bug, the only difference is to remove the font, as it doesn't seem to be used at all. Hi Micah, while I appreciate your efforts, this NMU unfortunately was unnecessary, the current bglibs packages in sarge are fine. Peter, the file /usr/share/doc/bglibs-doc/latex/Helvetica.ttf in the bglibs-doc package is from the GPL upstream tarball. The font actually is generated by the doxygen package, which Debian also distributes under the GPL. Thanks, Gerrit. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#298965: afterstep: contains non-free font
On Sat, 12 Mar 2005, Steve Langasek wrote: Hi, If 2.0.4 will include other significant changes besides the removal of the fonts, this is really not the time in the release cycle to be packaging new upstream releases to fix RC bugs that can easily be fixed in other ways. And what is the time in release cycle now? I appreciate your (Release Team) work, but the sad truth is that from my point of view the sarge release is as far away as it was a year ago. A few months ago I losted my hope sarge would be released in predictable future and I have just (re)started normal work on my packages e.g. by uploading to unstable some packages which I hadn't planned to be included in sarge and which I used to upload to experimental. Afterstep was one of them since the 2.0 version was rewritten almost from scratch so it was sure it would have plenty of new bugs. Of course there are some bugs, although not as many as I thought, but despite them afterstep2 is quite usable now and much better then outdated 1.8. would be far better, IMHO, to repackage the upstream .orig.tar.gz with the fonts removed, and upload to Debian without waiting for an upstream release that may not immediately be in releasable condition. I think 2.0.4 will be mostly a bugfix release (like any other release after 2.0.0), so it probably will go to testing anyway. Obviously I can upload repackaged 2.0.3 (and I will do it tomorrow), but thanks to mipsel, arm, etc. there is no warranty it will go to testing before 2.0.4 is released. But for now I'm lowering *temporarily* its priority to have afterstep 2.0.3 propagated into testing. In the future, please don't do this without talking to the release team first. OK. I will do. But I don't think lowering the severity changed anything apart from having newer afterstep available for testing in sarge now. Mind you, both previous and current version of afterstep *do* have the bug. Of course I could have uploaded new package only to fix this bug, but then I had to wait another some days for afterstep being allowed into testing. I even thought about doing that until it turned out that 2.0.3 would finally build on mipsel. (In this case, afterstep 2.00.03-1 has already been accepted into testing today.) That's great! Bug#298967: NMU to fix non-free font RC bug
Hi Micah, while I appreciate your efforts, this NMU unfortunately was unnecessary, the current bglibs packages in sarge are fine. Hi Gerrit, I should've noted in the NMU that I did this because of the BSP this weekend, we are trying to resolve as many RC bugs as possible. I suspected that since you hadn't replied yet, that this report was most probably true. But I see now that it is not! Peter, the file /usr/share/doc/bglibs-doc/latex/Helvetica.ttf in the bglibs-doc package is from the GPL upstream tarball. The font actually is generated by the doxygen package, which Debian also distributes under the GPL. If this is true, then my NMU should be knocked out and this bug should be closed, no? Bug#298731: can you still reproduce this?
Hi Stew, This is what my guys tell me: ---snip--- The problem was (and it still is) in the web.xml files that must have as validation a dtd file from http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd If you look there you'll find that includes other files and one of the is j2ee_1_4.xsd; If you go to : http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/j2ee_1_4.xsd you'll see that includes the following: http://www.ibm.com/webservices/xsd/j2ee_web_services_client_1_1.xsd page that was recently removed from IBM website. Now, the problem is why other instances of jetty are using local validation files and this one is using remote files. I'll try to find why. ---/snip--- It seems that the general strategy - as I believe is done with Jetty 5.1.x - is to include these files in distributions - rather than rely on the publisher (such as IBM) to correctly host these DTDs. Back to you and thanks for looking into this! Jay On 13-Mar-05, at 10:36 AM, Mike O'Connor wrote: Are you still getting this bug, I looked at http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd and I don't see a reference to ibm.com anywhere. I tried to reproduce it here and failed. stew

Which is unfortunately non-free. For now it seems the best solution is to add --as-needed to you LDFLAGS. To fix this grave bug, it is sufficient to rebuild the package against a current unstable system. The --as-needed flag is promising for the future, but it's currently regarded as experimental by upstream, and it's not necessarily a good idea to add it to LDFLAGS so close to release. -- Steve Langasek postmodern programmer signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#289646: On-the-Fly spell checking causing kbabel to crash
Hello Stanislav, we received in Debian a bug report claiming that KBabel crashed with a certain .po file, and that it seemed to be related to on-the-fly spell checking. You can read the full discussion at [1]. [1] http://bugs.debian.org/289646 The crash is reproducible for me when going to the entry #98 in the file mentioned in the report, being the spell checker language English. I suspect the crash is triggered because that entry is a little long, and as the checker language doesn't match the entry language (English vs. Spanish), a lot of misspelling signals are emitted. I've been having a look this afternoon, and after a lot of struggling I came to realice that using checkWord() instead of check() seems to improve things. There is this comment in kbabel/kbhighlighting.cpp: // yes I tried checkWord, the docs lie and it didn't give useful signals :-( However, is more than 2 years old, and checkWord() seems to do fine here. Perhaps you could considering making the change? Also, it may be that kdelibs is at fault, too (as per the backtrace). Sadly, I lack the knowledge to determine that, and anyway it seems that applications should really use the proper function that the API provides (checkWord, in this case). Bug#296433: umbrello bug news
Hi, Is there any news on this bug [0]? Its not clear from the bug log that its even present in a version distributed by Debian. (Most importantly: is it present in testing?) Ben, were you using a debian version of the package when you experienced the bug, or one from CVS? Bug#299441: screen artifacts / widgets not rendering
Package: blender Version: 2.36-1 Severity: grave Bugs 239184 and 291888 seem to refer to an abhorrent behaviour which I also witness - namely that none of the widgets render correctly or at all. I'm setting the severity high as it does render the thing unusable. I am running an X.org server w/DRI enabled, and the workaround in bug 239184 does resolve the problem for me. ie, launching like so: $ LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 blender gives me a useable interface again. This should perhaps be mentioned in a README.Debian or somesuch. I have a Matrox G450 and am using XFCE 4.2 (sometimes WM/DE's matter ;). I'm using the upstream X.org and dri.sf.net drivers from a package supplied here: deb http://www.nixnuts.net/files/ ./ deb-src http://www.nixnuts.net/files/ ./ Cheers, -- Matt (hoping this can close 3 bugs ;) pgpSCbeM2mzj9.pgp Description: PGP signature
