Bug#306149: missing dependency in unstable: please recompile

Bug#306241: nautilus crashes if a Macromedia Flash 5 file is found in the directory
Package: nautilus Version: 2.8.2-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Here is an experiment I did to reproduce the bug for reporting: 1. Create an empty directory: /tmp/xxx 2. Run nautilus and browse to this directory. 3. touch /tmp/xxx/x.swf - nautilus will update the directory view. I think this shows that Nautilus doesn't crash just because there is a file with that name. 4. Copy over a real .swf file to that name Nautilus locks hard and prints the following on the standard output: totem-video-thumbnailer couln't open file 'file:///home/amos/tmp/tali4.swf' Reason: There is no plugin to handle this movie.. Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x63d)! Bug#306129: Build-depends on soon-to-be-removed libdbd-sqlite-perl
On Sun, Apr 24, 2005 at 02:34:13PM +0200, Jeroen van Wolffelaar wrote: Package: libclass-dbi-plugin-type-perl Severity: serious Hi! The maintainer of libdbd-sqlite-perl asked for its removal in #305604. Your package does build-time tests using this module, so would fail to build once this removal is propagated. Two newer versions of the sqlite perl module are available, I suggest you use either of those instead. By the way, kudo's for doing build-time tests, they are IMHO an important way of doing good QA on your package. (Just curious, why are not failing the build if the tests fail?) Thanks for these reports, they are much appreciated. I will be uploading fixed packages shortly. The reason they don't fail is because the upstream test scripts first test for existence of the correct library and exit without error if they are not there. Bug#264816: doomlegacy-sdl: combines incompatible, non-dfsg licences

It would be great if you can get the code relicensed! That would solve the whole problem in one blow. Thanks! It might very well be a dead-end, but I'll try and kick-start stuff anyway. This is a (possibly non-complete) list of issues: - /usr/bin/crm114 no longer exists (only /usr/bin/crm). I don't know if this was a mistake or intentional, since there is no notice of the change in NEWS.Debian nor changelog.Debian. If such important change was necessary, a NEWS entry should have been added, and an explanation included in the changelog, since this change effectively breaks procmail (and other mail filters) rules. - /usr/share/crm114 is empty: my ~/.crm114/mailfilter.crm symlink points now to a non-existant file. I created this symlink following the instructions in the documentation, and I don't know how will crm behave in the absence of those files. - man pages are gone, too, together with a lot of other files: AUTHORS, TODO, NEWS, changelog.gz. The debdiff output (attached) is pretty scary, if you ask me. Bug#306270: gsnes9x: built for all architectures, but uninstallable on most
Package: gsnes9x Version: 3.12-6 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable The gsnes9x package has been built on all release architectures, and is present in testing; however, it depends on snes9x-x, which is only available on i386, m68k, mips, and powerpc. When enabling DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_DEBIAN_CONTROL building breaks due to the generated control file containing this: - Accepts 'k', 'm' and 'g' character after number for kilo, mega, echo giga bytes for overall data size limit. My guess is cdbs wrongly assumes lines ending with comma should be messed with, but I can't locate the exact error myself. Bug#306258: libnss-ldap libpam-ldap need to be linked against same lib
reassign 306258 libpam-ldap retitle 306258 libpam-ldap needs to be linked against ldap_r thanks Greetings, Just following up for those playing along at home. libnss-ldap and libpam-ldap need to be linked against the same ldap (either 'ldap' or 'ldap_r'). I thought I had done this for both, but apparently not. Linking against ldap_r fixed an issue in nss-ldap previously, so my intent is to change libpam-ldap to also link against ldap_r (like libnss-ldap). I hope to upload a fixed package this evening. Also, doing this fixed the problem for the bug submitter (we discussed it on IRC and he tested having libpam-ldap linked against ldap_r and that fixed his problem with the libnss-ldap package in unstable). Thanks, Stephen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#278495: libglib1.2-dev: Upgrade to sarge fails
Christian Hammers [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Hello This bug has the severity serious which is release critical and no comment since month which is definetly too long :) In the bug logs I see some proposals regarding the perl dependencies and Frank's last mail which suggests that the problem is probably fixed but not yet confirmed as such. I'm not sure how to do that but I just created a woody chroot, installed libglib1.2-dev and then dist-upgraded to sarge. Worked fine at least. :) If I have to confirm a more special scenario, just tell, I can quickly rsync the chroot back to Woody. BTW: Maybe this bug should be retitled, too, as it the bug seems to be some race-condition between the installation of perl and doc-base? Hmm. So if you were unable to reproduce it, maybe it's the right thing to tag it as unreproducible and lower the severity? If not, I would take other suggestions on how to fix it. -- .Adam Di [EMAIL PROTECTED]URL:http://www.debian.org/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#297980: gnat-gps: starting compilation terminates X session

I've not looked into the gnat-gps source code until now, but if you want, I could lend a hand there, too. Thank you so much for your detailed investigation. I ran gnat-gps under strace too, but couldn't spot the problem with ioctl. I will investigate in the gnat-gps sources and tell you where I think the problem is. Bug#306324: Postinst never finishes in 0.98.3-2
Package: quagga Severity: grave Tags: sid Since the addition of the confmodule inclusion in the postinst, it never finishes after having started the Quagga daemons (I run zebra, bgpd, and ospfd). This is due to misdesign in Debconf that's unlikely to be fixed soon, see #50595. There's two ways you can fix this: 1) Explicitly call db_stop in the postinst. 2) Stop including confmodule, it serves no purpose anyway. (Lintian should be ignored, it's obviously wrong here.) I've set the severity to RC as it's the only change since 0.98.3-1, and -2 doesn't change anything except adding this bug, so there's as far as I can see no good reason to let it replace 0.98.3-1 in Sarge (but one very good reason to stop it from doing so; preventing Sarge from including this very bug). Bug#278495: libglib1.2-dev: Upgrade to sarge fails
On Mon, Apr 25, 2005 at 11:11:19AM -0400, Adam Di Carlo wrote: Christian Hammers [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: This bug has the severity serious which is release critical and no comment since month which is definetly too long :) In the bug logs I see some proposals regarding the perl dependencies and Frank's last mail which suggests that the problem is probably fixed but not yet confirmed as such. Yes, the bug title is clearly wrong; this bug has nothing to do with libglib1.2-dev, except that libglib1.2-dev is one of the packages that *can* fail when calling install-docs. Hmm. So if you were unable to reproduce it, maybe it's the right thing to tag it as unreproducible and lower the severity? If not, I would take other suggestions on how to fix it. It's certainly not unreproducible. One of the release assistants also followed up to this bug noting that he had seen the problem; and the underlying cause has been analyzed and is definitely still present, we're just missing a fix for the problem. -- Steve Langasek postmodern programmer signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Hello Steve, Andreas, Please change the Build-Depends to 'libmysqlclient12-dev' in debian/control. Bug#306363: snes9express: built for all architectures, but uninstallable on most
Package: snes9express Version: 1.42-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable The snes9express package has been built on all release architectures, and is present in testing; however, it depends on snes9x-x, which is only available on i386, m68k, mips, and powerpc. Bug#306368: filter rules are too modern for remote rsync (which is 2.5.6)
Package: rsync Version: 2.6.4-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Rsync fails to push filters to the the remote host if the remote rsync is older than the Debian's. I've tried to connect to a remote host with the following rsync: rsync version 2.5.6 protocol version 26 Copyright (C) 1996-2002 by Andrew Tridgell and others http://rsync.samba.org/ Capabilities: 64-bit files, socketpairs, hard links, symlinks, batchfiles, IPv6, 64-bit system inums, 64-bit internal inums (that was a Fedora Core 1 box) Here is the command I've tried to execute on my Debian system: rsync -Cavvv ~/ports-utils bfc1: (bfc1 is the remote Fedora Core 1 host with rsync 2.5.6) Here is the output from rsync on Debian: opening connection using /home/feldgendler/bin/ssh bfc1 rsync --server -vvvlogDtprC . I've also tried the same with another remote Fedora Core 1 host which had: rsync version 2.6.2 protocol version 28 Copyright (C) 1996-2004 by Andrew Tridgell and others http://rsync.samba.org/ Capabilities: 64-bit files, socketpairs, hard links, symlinks, batchfiles, IPv6, 64-bit system inums, 64-bit internal inums and got a similar error message. Only installing rsync 2.6.4 (I actually copied the binary from Debian to Fedora Core 1) resolved the problem. So, rsync 2.6.4 only works with rsync 2.6.4, and this renders the package almost unusable because most remote osts run different (older) versions of rsync. You need to update all of the libtool related files by running the following on your source tree: autoreconf --force You may need to use the --install option as well. You can also try the individual commands needed yourself: libtoolize --force --copy aclocal autoheader automake -a autoconf autoheader may not be needed, and you may need to use versioned binaries (autoconf2.13, automake-1.{4,6,7}, aclocal-1.{4,6,7}, etc) The correct 'configure' script will have output that looks like this: linux*) lt_cv_deplibs_check_method=pass_all ;; Older versions of libtool used a file_magic check for the pattern file_magic ELF [0-9][0-9]*-bit [LM]SB (shared object|dynamic lib ) The output of file(1) on a shared library on MIPS does not match this regular expression, however. Earlier versions of file had been modified to match this regular expression, but the latest version uses the same output as upstream once again. The file check often causes problems, and results on a build-dep on file that you might not otherwise be aware of. The new method doesn't need file(1) at all, and is far less fragile, so it is best to upgrade the configure script with proper mips support. --- Received: (at 306027-close) by bugs.debian.org; 26 Apr 2005 05:38:02 + From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Apr 25 22:38:02 2005 Return-path: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Received: from newraff.debian.org [208.185.25.31] (mail) by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1DQIlm-0006yD-00; Mon, 25 Apr 2005 22:38:02 -0700 Received: from katie by newraff.debian.org with local (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1DQIg6-0001BT-00; Tue, 26 Apr 2005 01:32:10 -0400 From: Russ Allbery [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Katie: $Revision: 1.55 $ Subject: Bug#306027: fixed in webauth 3.2.7-1 Message-Id: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sender: Archive Administrator [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Tue, 26 Apr 2005 01:32:10 -0400 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org
