Package: libbonobomm1.3
Severity: serious
Usertag: g++-3.3

This package build-depends for some reason on g++-3.3 (most likely,
because it could not be built with a newer g++ version. We will
get rid of g++-3.3 for the etch release and remove the g++-3.3
package.

Please (re)check, if the package can be built by g++, and if not, if it
can be built using gcc-snapshot (or g++-4.1, currently found in
experimental). Please keep the bug report open until you can avoid the
build dependency on g++-3.3. Collect further information in this bug
report (i.e. if it builds with a newer/experimental version).

This bug report seems to be a false positive; libbonobomm1.3 doesn't
build-depend on g++-3.3, it build-*conflicts* with it.

Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.14-6
Severity: grave

kernel-package 10.0xx does call db_stop before calling the /etc/kernel/*.d
snipplets, which means all debconf using snipplets will be broken, and hang
forever for a response from debconf which will never come. mkvmlinuz is among
those using debconf in a /etc/kernel/*.d snipplet, and as the powerpc kernel
depends on it, the result is that the powerpc kernel will not only be
uninstallable, leave the dpkg-database in a unclean state, and wait-forever
during installation thus playing hell with automated upgrades or whatever.

I guess this means a new 2.6.14-7 upload quickly as soon as k-p gets fixed,
but it would be nice if new k-p upgrades where tested more thoroughly before
being inflicted unto the unsuspecting masses.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

Bug#344401: firefox: Confirmation

2005-12-24 Thread Sylvain Le Gall
Package: firefox
Version: 1.5.dfsg-2
Followup-For: Bug #344401

Hello,

I can confirm this bug. My papersize is A4 by default on my system.
My CUPS works in A4 mode for most applications. When i try to print
anything with firefox and CUPS, i get an error about papersize. I have
also tried to change the papersize in the property of the printer.

Anyway, i can print with Xprint. But this bug is very annoying.

Thanks for maintaining firefox,
Kind regard
Sylvain Le Gall

Bug#342545: qt-x11-free build fails

2005-12-24 Thread Steve Langasek
[cc:ed to the hppa porters individually, as well as to debian-hppa; please
let me know if you prefer to get such mail just via the list in the future.]

Are the hppa porters aware of bug #342545 in libgcc2, which is affecting
builds of most Qt-related packages on hppa today? I had suggested to LaMont
that this was a result of the buildd being configured to throw SIGBUS
instead of silently doing alignment fixups, but I see that this bug is
actually an illegal instruction, *not* a SIGBUS, so this is presumably not
as easy to fix as just throwing a kernel switch.

This is currently the single largest blocker for KDE completing the c2a ABI
transition, and large numbers of missing hppa builds are being ignored in
the analysis right now because it's the only way to see what other real
package bugs are outstanding. Aurelien has done some good work on pinning
down the location of the problem, but an hppa porter is going to need to
look at this to tell us what the proper fix is.

If this bug isn't fixed by the time the rest of the KDE hint is ready to go
in, we'll probably push it in leaving the packages out of date (and possibly
uninstallable) for hppa. At that point we would also have to reconsider
hppa's status as a release port, so hopefully someone will have a chance to
look at this soon.

Thanks,

Right. Thanks for the report.

I'll investigate this a bit since I have access to a sparc, but it looks
very much like yet another bug in the ocaml compiler (missinglib does
not contain C code).

Bug#324877: libdevice-serialport-perl still tries to find serial port

2005-12-24 Thread Steve Langasek
severity 324877 important
thanks

Hi Daniel,

You reported that you were able to reproduce this build failure with
libdevice-serialporl-perl 1.002-0.2, but this version has successfully built
on all archs (except s390 where it shouldn't be). At this point, the
package is *not* running make test, but is instead simply checking for the
presence of a serial device node in /dev/; it's arguable whether this is the
correct check, but why does your pbuilder chroot not have /dev/ttyS1 when
all of the buildds do have it? I'm inclined to believe this is a
pbuilder-specific bug, and should therefore not be RC.

Thanks,

As soon as I know where to fetch woody's sources, I will tell you.

  b) what about sid

Sid is not affected, the vulnerable script does not exist in the sid

Bug#344481: Mysterious crash in php4-rrdtool

2005-12-24 Thread Artur R. Czechowski

Well, I should tell it earlier. It looks like getopt_long comes from glibc,
backtrace follows.

Breakpoint 1, 0xb7d085b6 in getopt_long () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6
(gdb) bt
#0 0xb7d085b6 in getopt_long () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6
#1 0xb78d839c in rrd_graph_options () from /usr/lib/librrd.so.2
#2 0xb78d8fda in rrd_graph () from /usr/lib/librrd.so.2
#3 0xb7c1e64b in zif_rrd_graph () from /usr/lib/php4/20050606/rrdtool.so
#4 0xb72bbe82 in execute () from /usr/lib/apache/1.3/libphp4.so
#5 0xb72a27f5 in zend_execute_scripts () from /usr/lib/apache/1.3/libphp4.so

That does not bring me any closer to the solution. Especially because
the example from my previous e-mail works correctly with exactly
the same getopt_long:

(gdb) r --letter-a -2
Starting program: /tmp/g/gol --letter-a -2
Breakpoint 2 at 0xb7f3c5b6
Pending breakpoint getopt_long resolved

Breakpoint 2, 0xb7f3c5b6 in getopt_long () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6
(gdb) bt
#0 0xb7f3c5b6 in getopt_long () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6
#1 0x0804844b in main ()

Because only apache/php4(module) is a problematic combination I suspect
an apache. If it is sufficient for you I have no objections against
reassigning this bug to apache package.
I'd rather see some analysis to show where the bug actually belongs instead
 of guessing and reassigning.
That's understandable. But this case exceeds my knowledge.

Regards
Artur

There was an error while trying to autobuild your package:

Indeed, I reproduced that with my pbuilder...

I'm a bit confused, because even if I add libx11-6 in my
build-dependencies (which provides libX11.so.6) I still get the error.

I don't know how to solve that build issue, if someone can give me a
hand, that's very welcome...

Bug#329212: fisg bug #329212

2005-12-24 Thread Guilherme de S. Pastore
tag 329212 patch
thanks dude

Hi there,

the segmentation fault reported in this bug happens because the log
fails to be parsed, hence, there is no user list, and it tries to index
NULL. This happens because the number of users is checked, but too late.
There is a simplish patch attached that fixes the problem by moving the
check up with some tweaks, so it is performed earlier, and before
everything blows up.

Cheers,

Fixing libgnatprj-dev (see #334772, #337800) corrects the root cause
for this bug. In turn, it was necessary to rebuild asis, which was
done in asis 3.15p-9, before aws would be fixed. This is now done.

Bug#344413: kernel-package hooks transition

Oh well, messed up the bug email addresses :/

On Sat, Dec 24, 2005 at 09:19:36AM -0600, Manoj Srivastava wrote:
  Hi,

In the recent 10.X series, kernel package has started
producing image packages whose maintainer scripts use debconf for
user interaction. Unfortunately, this meant that any hook scripts
called in the maintainer scripts for the image package (update-grub
comes to mind), if they wrote anything at all to the STDout, would
cause debconf to throw hissy fits, since it was expecting commands on
STDOUT, not random chatter from the hook scripts.

One solution was to call db_stop before calling the hook
scripts, and redirecting stdout to stderr in hte invocation of the
scripts. Unfortunately, this made any scripts that used debconf
   impossible.

Notice that the debconf helper scripts provide stdout on 3, so any scripts
writing to stdout only need to redirect their output to 3, no ?

Another idea would be to have some tag or something to declare if the script
uses debconf or not, and to do the redirection depending on that ? It could be
 parsing for something like :

 comment delimiter KPKG-TAG: debconf

(where comment delimiter is # for shell scripts, obviously).

This would allow for the most flexibility, and still work out fine, and
parsing would be a simple grep command, so rather cheap (if grep
KPKG-TAG.*debconf; then debconf stuff; else non-debconf stuff; fi)

Oh and BTW, 10.023 did not fix the mkvmlinuz problem, not sure if you saw me
reopening the bug reports. I will try to investigate this on tuesday, altough
i am really lost about this and help will be welcomed.

For powerpc users, a workaround is to remove the debconf stuff by hand. There
 are two scripts :

 /etc/kernel/postinst.d/mkvmlinuz and /etc/kernel/prerm.d/mkvmlinuz

And the best way is to replace the lines :

   . /usr/share/debconf/confmodule

   db_get mkvmlinuz/bootloaders
   bootloader=$RET

 by :

   bootloader=your_choice

Where your_choice is yaboot on pmac and rs6k, and mkvmlinuz otherwise.

 Friendly,

 Sven Luther

When building 'lshw' in a clean chroot on amd64 with gcc-4.0,
I get the following error:

Bug#296370: additional informations

2005-12-24 Thread Chersi Vladimir Nicola
Hi.

I just tested two machines with the same file:
http://hope-2000.org/smo/rumpel/unixland.jpg

On peoluca: sarge machine i586, with debian stock kernel, it seems working
correctly (it loads also files bigger than 100k).
peoluca:~# dpkg -l boa debconf libc6 logrotate mime-support
+++-=-=-==
ii boa 0.94.14rc20-1.2 Lightweight and High Performance
WebServer
ii debconf 1.4.30.13 Debian configuration management system
ii libc6 2.3.5-4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries and
Timezone data
ii logrotate 3.7-5 Log rotation utility
ii mime-support 3.28-1MIME files 'mime.types' 'mailcap',
and support p

On vladnick: i686, custom kernel, fails:
vladnick:~# dpkg -l boa libc6 mime-support logrotate debconf
+++-=-=-==
ii boa 0.94.14rc20-1.2 Lightweight and High Performance
WebServer
ii debconf 1.4.58Debian configuration management system
ii libc6 2.3.5-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries and
Timezone data
ii logrotate 3.7.1-2 Log rotation utility
ii mime-support 3.35-1MIME files 'mime.types' 'mailcap',
and support p

It looks that they are the same version, and that the difference is in
its dependencies.. What and where is wrong? Is it a defective library?
Or is itsomething in the compilation of the kernel?
I hope that this could help to track down the problem.

Bye, Vladimir Nicola Chersi

Some other architectures are still failing to build due to what looks like
bug 340103, which should probably be reopened.

Ok. I first tried to rebuild lablgtk2 but the compilation failed on

Error on dynamically loaded library:
/usr/lib/ocaml/3.09.0/stublibs/dlllablgl.so: undefined symbol:

Then I tried to rebuild lablgl which went on fine and then I could
compile cleanly lablgtk2 and ocamlodbc.

So, I'll go for binNMUs soon (only sparc seems to be affected) unless
someone objects to it.

Cheers,

Samuel.

This is a buildd problem, the same test works fine on the other buildds
(including elara and debian-31).

Yes, there was a bug in the CD build. Netinst version 3.1_r1a fixes
it. It's out now on cdimage and should be on the mirrors soon.

Indeed, I reproduced that with my pbuilder...

I'm a bit confused, because even if I add libx11-6 in my

Er, you need the package that provides *libX11.so*, not libX11.so.6. You

Bug#344653: electricsheep - FTBFS: cannot find -lX11

This patch fixes it here:

 Section: x11
 Priority: optional
 Maintainer: Alexis Sukrieh [EMAIL PROTECTED]
-Build-Depends: debhelper (= 4.0.0), libjpeg62-dev, libexpat1-dev,
libpng12-dev, dpatch, libxv-dev
+Build-Depends: debhelper (= 4.0.0), libjpeg62-dev, libexpat1-dev,
libpng12-dev, dpatch, libxv-dev, libx11-dev, libxext-dev, x-dev, libxt-dev
 Standards-Version: 3.6.1

 Package: electricsheep

The addition of libx11-dev, libxext-dev and x-dev are because the package
#includes headers from those packages. I only did a simplistic grep
test, so it may be over generous in my dependency (for instance, if a
chunk of source is not actually built or used, my test would miss that
completely). The addition of libxt-dev is for the configure test for X
(it looks for X11/Intrinsic.h from the libxt-dev package) and then fills
in the autoconf macro X_LIBS=' -L/usr/X11R6/lib'. Without this bit,
linking fails. With it, it succeeds.

The fact that /usr/X11R6/lib is in /etc/ld.so.conf and the linker still
doesn't look there is a bit mystifying (as I thought that's, er, exactly
what that file is for) but that's a seperate problem.

Take care,

There was an error while trying to autobuild your package:

Hmm I think i'd rather restrict this package to just i386 and
(maybe) amd64 architectures??
After all, and know i come to think about it, non-PC architectures don't
have SMBIOS... or do they?

Michael, what do you think??

Bug#344730: cduce: FTBFS: build-depends on old version of ocaml

2005-12-24 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: cduce
Version: 0.3.92-1
Severity: serious

The cduce package build-depends on ocaml-nox-3.08.3 and
ocaml-compiler-libs-3.08.3. 3.08.3 is no longer the current version of
ocaml in unstable, and as a result cduce fails to build as seen at
http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?pkg=cducearch=ia64ver=0.3.92-1stamp=1134798145file=log.

Please update cduce to build-depend on ocaml-nox (= 3.09.0) and
ocaml-compiler-libs (= 3.09.0), so that in the future rebuilds for new ABIs
can be done without the need for source changes.

Cheers,

Bug#328674: Still planning to upload slsc?

2005-12-24 Thread Nathanael Nerode
Doing some late-night QA work, and noticed that you were planning to upload
this in September. It does need an upload badly. Alternatively, you could
orphan it or ask for it to be removed (your choice). It's already been
kicked out of 'testing' so it won't be in the next release of Debian unless
it's fixed up.

It should be transitioned to slang2 with the next upload if possible; see
http://wiki.debian.org/EtchSlang2upgrade for some information.

Happy holidays.

Bug#344731: libgtk2.0-0: the menus of gtk applications are black

2005-12-24 Thread Adriano Bonat
Package: libgtk2.0-0

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrade the libgtk2.0-0 from version 2.6.10-2 to 2.8.9-2, the
background of the menus of GTK applications are black.

When you move the mouse cursor above the menu items, the application
generates this debug messages:

(unknown:7661): Gdk-WARNING **: gdk_window_set_back_pixmap(): pixmap

The application is this case is gmplayer, but I also checked this with
Gimp and Gaim.

I found a post from Owen Taylor about this debug messages:
http://mail.gnome.org/pipermail/gtk-app-devel-list/2005-August/msg00206.html

They say that was fixed in CVS and the email date is 15/Aug.

Package: asc
Version: 1.16.2.0-2
Severity: important

I'm trying to upgrade my system, and finding that there is a version
of asc newer than the version of asc-data. Since asc depends on the
same version of asc-data(=1.16.2.0-2+b1), the new version is not
installable. This has persisted for a few days, so it doesn't seem
like mirror slowness. Further, when I looked at
http://packages.qa.debian.org/asc, I didn't see a new source
version. I've concluded that this looks like a binary-only upload of
asc gone awry by missing the versioned dependency.

Also, the -2+b1 Debian revision appears to have migrated to testing
for m68k, but not for any other architecture. Would that fact make
this an RC bug, if asc is indeed not installable in testing?

Package: ocamlodbc
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

ocamlodbc failed to build on a sparc buildd, duplicated on my sparc
pbuilder. This seems to be the same error as 344463, so is probably
in a dependant package.

Some other architectures are still failing to build due to what looks like
bug 340103, which should probably be reopened.

Bug#341675: qt-x11-free build fails

It would be nice if somebody fluent with hppa assembly can tell us if

   fldw -10(,sp),fr23

is a valid instruction or not.

Aurelien,
fldw is a valid instruction and is used frequently in libgcc_s.so.2:
grundler 507objdump -rD /lib/libgcc_s.so.2 | fgrep fldw | fgrep fr23 | wc -l
36

But there's more than a few calls/branches to __umoddi3.
grundler 504objdump -rD /lib/libgcc_s.so.2 | fgrep __umoddi3 | wc -l
43

Can you provide more context around the offending insn?
10 lines of asm before and after the SIGILL instruction?
And possibly a register dump just before the SIGILL is issued?
It would be interesting to know what %SP is.

thanks,
grant
