Sam Morris [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

After telling Gnucash where to save the report, it freezes.

Can you please:

1: Try this with 2.0.2-2, and
2: Give me a recipe for how to recreate the bug, preferably on an
   empty file?

The second point suggests the fix will not go into testing without some
help; the first point suggests it would take 10 days if handled
   automatically.

It might be good to get this into testing sooner rather than later,
since it fixes an RC bug.

Yes. The upload should probably have been high urgency. But maybe
Michael had some reasons for using low. After all, we are in freeze
but we still have time to make stuff migrate to testing.

The problem with automatic migration to etch is that we don't fully
know the effects of Bug#390189 yet. The root of the problem is
 http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=29289

The g++ version in etch is not affected by this g++ problem, the
version in sid is. This means that its probably not a good idea to
just let apt migrate to testing. We may have to build it with the
testing g++ and upload it to t-p-u :/ But lets hope that gcc upstream
has some more information about it.

AIUI, the ABI incompatibility is unidirectional, and shipping a libapt-pkg
built with the new g++-4.1 together with the old g++-4.1 shouldn't cause any
problems. Do you have a reason to believe otherwise?

Thanks,

Bug#392941: mediawiki1.7: why so pissed

2006-10-15 Thread Tobias Frost
Package: mediawiki1.7
Followup-For: Bug #392941

I think, this bug is originated in bad dependency, and therefore
a seroius Debian Policy Violation.

If you think, that mediawiki-1.5 and mediawiki-1.7-xxx shoould not
be installed together, they have to conflict.
But as a debian maintainer, you surely read Chapter #3.5, #5.3, and 7.2

Closing as a dupe of Bug#391242, fixed in 0.9-2 earlier today. gaim-librvp
was broken by the upload of the gaim 2.0 beta to unstable; librvp's upstream
has not provided a 2.0-compatible release, so I've patched the 1.5 release
sufficiently to work with 2.0.

Yup, true. That's not release-critical in my opinion. As I've just

If this bug allows a user of sarge to install individual packages from etch

Bug#356853: Licence de votre contribution au package ae / License of your contribution to the ae package

2006-10-15 Thread Florent Rougon
[ French version first; English translation follows ]

Bonjour,

l'adresse suivante :

  http://www.latex-project.org/lppl/

% This work may be distributed and/or modified under the
% conditions of the LaTeX Project Public License, either version 1.3
% of this license or (at your option) any later version.
% The latest version of this license is in
  % http://www.latex-project.org/lppl.txt
% and version 1.3 or later is part of all distributions of LaTeX
  % version 2005/12/01 or later.

demande.

  [1] http://www.debian.org/

Hello,

It has been several months since the Debian[1] developers in charge of
TeX, and most notably Frank Küster, started to work on a license audit
of the various components comprising the teTeX and TeX Live
distributions. As part of this work, we found that some files in the ae
package have no license statement, which unfortunately renders them
legally undistributable.

We think that the most natural choice of license for the ae package
would be the LaTeX Project Public License (LPPL), whose text can be
found at this address:

  http://www.latex-project.org/lppl/

We got the agreement of its current maintainer (Lars Engebretsen, who is
in the Cc field of this mail) to arrange for an update of the ae package
using this license, which we can only do with the agreement of every
person holding copyright on a part of ae.

Looking at the ae package, it appears that you hold copyright on the
following file:

  tex/ae.sty

Do you accept that this file be distributed under the LPPL, with the
following statement, as suggested in the latest version of the LPPL?

% This work may be distributed and/or modified under the
% conditions of the LaTeX Project Public License, either version 1.3

Who said you should set this tag? This tag is only to be used with
approval of the release team, and this is not a bug that should be ignored.
ignore means allowing the package into the release with this bug, and
 that isn't going to happen.
Thank you for this explication. I'm sorry for this. I misunderstood this tag
meaning.

OK. I will hunt down where in the upstream source this is and rearrange

Hello,

It has been several months since the Debian[1] developers in charge of
TeX, and most notably Frank Küster, started to work on a license audit
of the various components comprising teTeX and TeX Live. As part of this
work, we found that some files in the ae package have no license
statement, which unfortunately renders them legally undistributable.

Looking at the ae package, it appears that you hold copyright on the
following file:

  src/aecompl.sty

Do you accept that this file be distributed under the LPPL, with the
following statement, as suggested in the latest version of the LPPL?

% This work may be distributed and/or modified under the
% conditions of the LaTeX Project Public License, either version 1.3
% of this license or (at your option) any later version.
% The latest version of this license is in

  % version 2005/12/01 or later.

Many thanks for your work, and in advance for considering this request.

Agreed.

As liblucene-java exists as a Debian package I think using this
pacakge solves the problem.

Find attached a patch that tries to implement the usage of
liblucene-java instead of the pre-compiled jar (no extensive testing,
no warranty).

Bug#393150: kpovmodeler: fails to completely display some scenes

2006-10-15 Thread Alexandre DENIS
Package: kpovmodeler
Version: 4:3.5.5-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

kpovmodeler fails to display completely most complex scenes. Objects
are missing from the 3D and camera views, and the grid is not
displayed on 3D views.

Very simple scenes (e.g.
/usr/share/apps/kpovmodeler/examples/scenes/objects/text.kpm)
are displayed ok. More complex ones (e.g.
/usr/share/apps/kpovmodeler/examples/scenes/advanced/ants.kpm) always
fail to display.

I tried with and without OpenGL direct rendering checked in
kpovmodeler settings, and on various hardware (i810, MGA, and nvidia).
The bug appears on all thoses Debian sid sytems.

Bug#392943: wmaker: Broken keyboard shortcuts with new default theme

2006-10-15 Thread Peter Colberg
Hello Gürkan,

On Sun, Oct 15, 2006 at 03:39:26AM +0200, Gürkan Sengün wrote:
I disagree with your grave severity. The software is perfectly usable
 without

Yes, the severity I picked might be a bit out of proportion.
Please feel free to downgrade it to a sensible choice.

the so called standard configuration that you say is default by
 Window Maker.

Maybe I should clarify as to what I meant with default configuration:
The global configuration as shipped with the Debian package, not the
unaltered upstream one.

After an initial shock over the new default theme (which this bug
 does not
mean to put in question), I found the WindowMaker keyboard shortcuts,
 for
example for switching workspaces, not working at all.

are you sure they work if you take the upstream tarball and build it?
you can set them in WPrefs, the 5th icon from the right.

I did not consider building wmaker from pristine upstream upstream
source or in fact any source. This bug simply means to compare the
previous Debian package version with the current one.

After your suggestion, I tried with a fresh user account and found the
same behaviour, namely missing keyboard bindings. For clarification,
I attached the global and a pristine user configuration.

It is of course very easy for a user to assign keyboard bindings with
WPref or wmakerconf or by any other means, but isn't this exactly the
purpose of a default configuration, i.e. to provide sane defaults
for all configuration options needed for proper usage of a package?

The current Debian config should really include all the previous
config options (that is, the missing options as found in the file
'debian/WindowMaker.default' in source package version 0.92.0-5.3),
while keeping the new NeXTstep theme.

(Regarding the theme: You are absolutely right, my comment on the
previous and the current theme was absolutely subjective, and not
meant to offend anybody.)

Regards,
Peter

Bug#391764: Uninstallable due to unmet dep on apache2-common

Your package is not installable as it depends on apache2-common which is not
available in unstable anymore. You might want to update the dependency to
 apache2.2-common.

I forgot to Cc it to this bugreport, but it's not just a simple
build-dependency that has to be updated, libapache2-mod-layout simply
doesn't compile anymore with the latest apache packages. Since I don't
use it myself anymore and I don't know enough to fix it, I orphaned the
package (see #392229). If you want to take over this package, feel free
to do so.

No, it has to be in the inverse way. Look at /etc first.

OK. I will hunt down where in the upstream source this is and rearrange
 it with patch.

Actually, I found that no patch is necessary.

This piece is now in the configure script:

# Check whether --with-configdir or --without-configdir was given.
if test ${with_configdir+set} = set; then
  withval=$with_configdir
  configdir=$withval
else
  configdir=$plugindir:/etc/sasl2
fi;

cat confdefs.h _ACEOF
#define CONFIGDIR $configdir
_ACEOF

Thus, I have simply set '--with-configdir=/etc/sasl:/usr/lib/sasl2' in
debian/rules. Is this acceptable to everyone?

Bug#393182: Uninstallable due to unmet dep on thunderbird (= 1.5.0.7-2)

2006-10-15 Thread Luk Claes

Package: thunderbird-dev
Severity: serious
Version: 1.5.0.7-2

Hi

Your package is not installable as it depends on thunderbird (= 1.5.0.7-2)
while version 1.5.0.7-3 is in unstable. You might want to at least ask for
removal of the thunderbird source package and maybe add transition packages
for all the packages it provided?

Thanks for all the good work.

Cheers

Luk

Does that mean the bug should be closed as a non-issue? The grep command
isn't sufficient to tell that there are any invariant sections or cover
  texts here.

Yes, it seems I am wrong there. I received a bug for gcc-m68hc1x telling
it contains some GFDL docs. I have took gcc-4.1 as an example to know
what to remove, and I was surprised to see so much GFDL occurences in
the package. But I forgot that I only concerns cover text and invariant
 sections.

what you do see, is a comment in the replacement files.

the tarball still contains the pregenerated html files in the INSTALL

And so on indefinitely...

Here is the output of the IRC client on another host.

00:44 -!- Irssi: Connecting to sardaukar [10.0.0.9] port 6667

And nothing more.

It only appears on alpha and it is probably a kernel bug, because
it works fine on other architectures. Therefore, I am setting the
severity to important.

Bug#393195: apt-index-watcher should be removed as soon as it'll be possible

2006-10-15 Thread Enrico Zini
Package: apt-index-watcher
Version: 0.3.10
Severity: serious

Hello,

apt-index-watcher should be removed ASAP. The new libept and debtags in
unstable are able to rebuild their indexes without apt-index-watcher,
and in a better way.

I'm not yet filing for removal because the new debtags hasn't yet made
it to testing, but etch should not ship with apt-index-watcher in it.

Bug#373643: IRC discussion on the state of this bug

2006-10-15 Thread Loïc Minier

15:37 HE lool: Ping? What's up with #373643?
15:40 fatal vainikka: I've done some more googling try installing
schedutils and look at the taskset program.
15:41 -!- streuner [EMAIL PROTECTED] has joined #debian-devel
15:43 lool HE: that's not a trivial nut to crack
15:44 vainikka fatal: ok
15:44 HE lool: Right, but it's one of the nuts left for etch :)
15:44 lool HE: in short, intltool is made of a m4 macro, support scripts,
and a sample Makefile snippet
15:44 HE Though I hate that fact, I fear that I have to admit to know that.
15:44 lool HE: upstream not only broke compatibility with newer autoconfs
because of bad design, they also broke compatibility between the pieces
15:45 lool HE: please hang on when I type things :)
15:45 lool HE: I was trying to explain the various problems at hand
15:46 lool HE: upstream didn't comment on the bug report, I fear breaking
things further myself, and I don't want to introduce another round of
incompatibilities
15:46 -!- dancerjBO [EMAIL PROTECTED] has quit [Remote host closed the
connection]
15:47 HE lool: So reverting to the older version would work?
15:47 lool HE: the best thing which could happen is someone proposing a
patch reverting the brokeness of the new upstream, while still adding the new
functionility
15:47 lool HE: the new intltool has functionalities we need in upstream
releases already in Debian
15:48 lool I'm not sure that this is visible via build-depends only, it
might be something you only discover at aclocal time
15:48 HE So we have some packages needing the new release, some software
needing the old release, upstream doesn't care and there is no patch, right?
15:48 lool I think this is correct yes
15:48 HE Ah, well, business as usual then.
[...]
15:49 lool I think they hate aclocal macro as many of us do, and are
reluctant to fix some mistakes because of this :-/
15:50 lool HE: I've tagged + help now
15:50 HE Thanks.
15:51 HE Could you perhaps just paste what you wrote and attach it to the
bug log?

 Cf. the attached patch.

Broken patch, IMHO. I understand that reasoning for programs/stuff to
use but not for demos.
Demos belong into /usr7share/doc, nothing relies on that etc.

*If* the above is not allowed I'd prefer to not ship demo at all instead
of shipping it in a patch no one will look at at. Unless you also create
a symlink...

And why are you sending a pathh containg NMU (idirectly threatinging
with it) for a (IMHO non-)RC bug which is only 4 days old?

Bug#393196: Please compile ircd-hybrid with rtsigio on any architectures

2006-10-15 Thread Aurélien GÉRÔME
Package: ircd-hybrid
Version: 1:7.2.2.dfsg.1-1
Severity: serious
Tags: pending

I made a mistake in the debian/rules and now ircd-hybrid is compiled
with epoll on any architectures, although I wanted it to be compiled
with epoll only on alpha.

However, epoll is specific to linux-2.6 and using it on linux-2.4 will
fail. The Sarge system the user might come from when dist-upgrading
to Etch can be running under linux-2.4. Therefore, to avoid having
ircd-hybrid failing under linux-2.4, we must not use epoll.

It is a RC bug, because it renders the package unusable after the
upgrade path from Sarge to Etch.

Cheers,

Bug#393180: Uninstallable due to unmet dep on latex-cjk-chinese-arphic-*

2006-10-15 Thread danai . sae-han
Hi!

 Package: latex-cjk-chinese
 Severity: serious
 Version: 4.6.0+cvs20060714-2

Your package is not installable as it depends on
 latex-cjk-chinese-arphic-bsmi00lp,
 latex-cjk-chinese-arphic-bkai00mp,
 latex-cjk-chinese-arphic-gbsn00lp and
 latex-cjk-chinese-arphic-gkai00mp which are not yet
 available in unstable.

Sorry, I forgot to include the Arphic Public License in
debian/copyright.
Last week I sent another version to my sponsor (Frank
Kuester), and it appears to have
reached Debian/unstable now.

I can't check the packages now yet, because my computer just
died.
I'll get back to you ASAP. =)

Bug#380080: workaround

2006-10-15 Thread Pierre Habouzit
tag 380080 + patch
thanks

I use that simple test in the 'reload' part of the script:

while pidof lighttpd | grep -q `cat $PIDFILE`; do sleep 1; done

betwwen the stop and start call. that's quite simple, and works like a
charm for a month right now.

please consider applying that simple workaround,I would be terribly
sorry not to see lighty enter etch because of that.

if I see no answer about that soon, I'll probably NMU lighttpd with that
fix.
