It must be 10 days old to go in. * apt is in freeze; contact debian-release if update is needed The second point suggests the fix will not go into testing without some help; the first point suggests it would take 10 days if handled automatically. It might be good to get this into testing sooner rather than later, since it fixes an RC bug. Yes. The upload should probably have been high urgency. But maybe Michael had some reasons for using low. After all, we are in freeze but we still have time to make stuff migrate to testing. The problem with automatic migration to etch is that we don't fully know the effects of Bug#390189 yet. The root of the problem is http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=29289 The g++ version in etch is not affected by this g++ problem, the version in sid is. This means that its probably not a good idea to just let apt migrate to testing. We may have to build it with the testing g++ and upload it to t-p-u :/ But lets hope that gcc upstream has some more information about it. AIUI, the ABI incompatibility is unidirectional, and shipping a libapt-pkg built with the new g++-4.1 together with the old g++-4.1 shouldn't cause any problems. Do you have a reason to believe otherwise? Thanks, -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. [1] http://www.debian.org/ Hello, It has been several months since the Debian[1] developers in charge of TeX, and most notably Frank Küster, started to work on a license audit of the various components comprising teTeX and TeX Live. As part of this work, we found that some files in the ae package have no license statement, which unfortunately renders them legally undistributable. We think that the most natural choice of license for the ae package would be the LaTeX Project Public License (LPPL), whose text can be found at this address: http://www.latex-project.org/lppl/ We got the agreement of its current maintainer (Lars Engebretsen, who is in the Cc field of this mail) to arrange for an update of the ae package using this license, which we can only do with the agreement of every person holding copyright on a part of ae. Looking at the ae package, it appears that you hold copyright on the following file: src/aecompl.sty Do you accept that this file be distributed under the LPPL, with the following statement, as suggested in the latest version of the LPPL? % This work may be distributed and/or modified under the % conditions of the LaTeX Project Public License, either version 1.3 % of this license or (at your option) any later version. % The latest version of this license is in % http://www.latex-project.org/lppl.txt % and version 1.3 or later is part of all distributions of LaTeX % version 2005/12/01 or later. (ideally, you would send your answer in English, in a digitally-signed mail sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED]) Many thanks for your work, and in advance for considering this request. Bug#393150: kpovmodeler: fails to completely display some scenes
Package: kpovmodeler Version: 4:3.5.5-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable kpovmodeler fails to display completely most complex scenes. Objects are missing from the 3D and camera views, and the grid is not displayed on 3D views. Very simple scenes (e.g. /usr/share/apps/kpovmodeler/examples/scenes/objects/text.kpm) are displayed ok. More complex ones (e.g. /usr/share/apps/kpovmodeler/examples/scenes/advanced/ants.kpm) always fail to display. Bug#392943: wmaker: Broken keyboard shortcuts with new default theme
Hello Gürkan, On Sun, Oct 15, 2006 at 03:39:26AM +0200, Gürkan Sengün wrote: I disagree with your grave severity. The software is perfectly usable without Yes, the severity I picked might be a bit out of proportion. Please feel free to downgrade it to a sensible choice. the so called standard configuration that you say is default by Window Maker. Maybe I should clarify as to what I meant with default configuration: The global configuration as shipped with the Debian package, not the unaltered upstream one. After an initial shock over the new default theme (which this bug does not mean to put in question), I found the WindowMaker keyboard shortcuts, for example for switching workspaces, not working at all. are you sure they work if you take the upstream tarball and build it? you can set them in WPrefs, the 5th icon from the right. I did not consider building wmaker from pristine upstream upstream source or in fact any source. This bug simply means to compare the previous Debian package version with the current one. After your suggestion, I tried with a fresh user account and found the same behaviour, namely missing keyboard bindings. For clarification, I attached the global and a pristine user configuration. It is of course very easy for a user to assign keyboard bindings with WPref or wmakerconf or by any other means, but isn't this exactly the purpose of a default configuration, i.e. to provide sane defaults for all configuration options needed for proper usage of a package? The current Debian config should really include all the previous config options (that is, the missing options as found in the file 'debian/WindowMaker.default' in source package version 0.92.0-5.3), while keeping the new NeXTstep theme. (Regarding the theme: You are absolutely right, my comment on the previous and the current theme was absolutely subjective, and not meant to offend anybody.) You might want to update the dependency to apache2.2-common. I forgot to Cc it to this bugreport, but it's not just a simple build-dependency that has to be updated, libapache2-mod-layout simply doesn't compile anymore with the latest apache packages. Bug#393196: Please compile ircd-hybrid with rtsigio on any architectures
Package: ircd-hybrid Version: 1:7.2.2.dfsg.1-1 Severity: serious Tags: pending I made a mistake in the debian/rules and now ircd-hybrid is compiled with epoll on any architectures, although I wanted it to be compiled with epoll only on alpha. However, epoll is specific to linux-2.6 and using it on linux-2.4 will fail. The Sarge system the user might come from when dist-upgrading to Etch can be running under linux-2.4. Therefore, to avoid having ircd-hybrid failing under linux-2.4, we must not use epoll. It is a RC bug, because it renders the package unusable after the upgrade path from Sarge to Etch. Bug#393180: Uninstallable due to unmet dep on latex-cjk-chinese-arphic-*
Hi! Package: latex-cjk-chinese Severity: serious Version: 4.6.0+cvs20060714-2 Your package is not installable as it depends on latex-cjk-chinese-arphic-bsmi00lp, latex-cjk-chinese-arphic-bkai00mp, latex-cjk-chinese-arphic-gbsn00lp and latex-cjk-chinese-arphic-gkai00mp which are not yet available in unstable. Sorry, I forgot to include the Arphic Public License in debian/copyright. Last week I sent another version to my sponsor (Frank Kuester), and it appears to have reached Debian/unstable now. I can't check the packages now yet, because my computer just died. I'll get back to you ASAP. =) Danai SAE-HAN -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? tag 380080 + patch thanks I use that simple test in the 'reload' part of the script: while pidof lighttpd | grep -q `cat $PIDFILE`; do sleep 1; done betwwen the stop and start call. that's quite simple, and works like a charm for a month right now. please consider applying that simple workaround,I would be terribly sorry not to see lighty enter etch because of that. if I see no answer about that soon, I'll probably NMU lighttpd with that fix.
