Bug#432033: dpkg: error processing med-tools (--configure)
Hi, as you might have noticed I reassigned the bug to cdd-common which in fact contains the code that leads to the problem below. Setting up med-tools (0.12) ... Adding menu for user users of med ... Unknown id: users dpkg: error processing med-tools (--configure): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: med-tools E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) To track down this problem I would need some help to fix it. It seems that your /etc/passwd is a little bit brocken because there seems to be invalid entries (users). Could you please send me this file in private Mail (there is no need to publish it in the BTS database for confidence reasons). Perhaps even the output of grep users /etc/passwd might be sufficient. It also would be helpful if you would tell me whether you are using NIS or LDAP for user authentication. Kind regards and thanks for your bug report Andreas. -- http://fam-tille.de -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

There are several error handling issues where I have patches for but pushing this into a release and upstream (possibly) choosing another path is not good. Bug#433456: dh-make-php: phppkginfo does not open package.xml properly
Package: dh-make-php Version: 0.2.3 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable I'm sorry for reporting bug in yet unreleased package version, but the 0.2.2 version is almost unusable because of bug #432880 and I tried the svn version as Uwe Steinmann suggested. New dh-make-php dropped xmlstarlet dependency and now uses its own script to retrieve package information. Usage information printed by /usr/share/dh-make-php/phppkginfo says: - Usage: /usr//share/dh-make-php/phppkginfo dir command dir - Directory containing package.xml file commands: version - Return version of package maintainers - Return comma separated list of maintainers - But phppkginfo expects its first argument to full path to package.xml file, not the directory that contains it. Because in /usr/share/dh-make-php/dh-make-php.lib the script is also called with directory argument, dh-make-php does not work. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages dh-make-php depends on: ii cdbs0.4.49 common build system for Debian pac ii php-pear5.2.0-10+lenny1 PEAR - PHP Extension and Applicati ii php4-pear 6:4.4.4-9+lenny1 PHP Extension and Application Repo dh-make-php recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#433180: bug-buddy: Bug buddy error - failed to parse the xml-rpc response
Fernando Herrera wrote: Hi Luk, thanks for your answer, it's really useful. It seems that there is an encoding problem while reading the .xsession-errors file (that text is inserted onto the GtkTextBuffer, so it should be UTF-8 valid). Anyway, when getting the text from the buffer to sent it to the server, it should really be UTF-8 Please, can you attach your ~/.xsession-errors file so I can test a little bit with the code? Thanks! Salu2 Hello Fernando, Unfortunately, before I saw your mail, I deleted the file because I thought maybe it's causing the problem and indeed I was able to invoke bugbuddy successfully afterwards. Up to this moment, no new .xsession-errors was generated though the problem of nautilus crashing still continues. :-( I guess the bug can be closed (for the time being) and I'll report back if I encounter it again. Bug#433283: toshset: FTBFS: Versioned Build-Depends on linux-kernel-headers
tag 433283 pending thanks Roberto C. Sánchez [EMAIL PROTECTED] (16/07/2007): Incidentally, since the package is owned by the QA group, you are more than welcome to perform a QA upload yourself (with someone sponsoring your upload if necessary, as it appears you are in NM). You can look at the last changelog entry (1.72-4) for an example of the formatting of a QA upload changelog. OK, didn't notice that, I'll prepare a QA upload and ping for a sponsor on #-bugs (and thanks for the pointer but I already did some QA uploads ;-)). Michael Stone [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On Tue, Jul 17, 2007 at 03:54:03PM +0200, you wrote: Alright. Will there be an update? Upstream already is at version 6.9. I'm aware of the upstream version. The difficulty is with the integration of the selinux stuff (which wasn't in the experimental version). If that managed to get integrated upstream the releases would come much faster. The SELinux changes *are* all integrated upstream, just not in an official release yet. I put all of that on the trunk right after the 6.9 release. Bringing the SELinux changes up to standard exposed several mostly-minor bugs in that area. It'd really be nice to get feedback from a few people who use SELinux and coreutils-6.9+ before I release 6.10. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#432408: PATCH: fireflier-1.1.6.patch
tag 432408 patch thanks Jason Harrison [EMAIL PROTECTED] (17/07/2007): I have attached a patch that I believe fixes the build problem. Please let me know if it is acceptable. Hi, this patch is not sufficient, though, because gnomeclient/configure needs install-sh, which in this directory is symlinked to automake1.8's, broken symlink since automake1.8 is not Build-Depend'd upon. Since applying the patch, and adding the missing B-D (or copying this file once in the source) fixes the FTBFS, tagging accordingly. It would be nice to sort out the warnings and the error that lintian emits when run on the source package (e.g. the B-D on g++). Cheers, -- Cyril Brulebois pgpTsdRcQRSCV.pgp Description: PGP signature

To allow partial upgrades of packages, we will need to rename all packages holding libraries with the long double data type in their API. Both libc and libstdc++ do not need to be renamed, because they support both representations. We rename the library packages on all architectures to avoid name mismatches between architectures (you can avoid the renaming by supporting both datatype representations in the library as done in glibc and libstdc++, but unless a library is prepared for that, it does not seem to be worth the effort). It is suggested to rename a package libfoo1 to libfoo1ldbl; please wait with the renaming if the package depends on another library package which needs renaming. This package has been indentified as one with header files in /usr/include matching 'long *double'. Bug#432901: marked as done (New version available - blocking update of gpe-calendar)
Your message dated Tue, 17 Jul 2007 19:34:08 + with message-id [EMAIL PROTECTED] and subject line Bug#432901: fixed in libgpevtype 0.50-1 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- Package: libgpevtype Version: 0.17-5+b1 Severity: serious The latest release of gpe-calendar requires libhandoff and updates to libeventdb and libgpevtype which were released at the same time (during DebConf7). libhandoff has now been accepted into Debian from the NEW queue so I want to be able to upload the updated gpe-calendar upstream release to close the RC bug #425093. However, the new release of gpe-calendar needs the latest release of libeventdb (and libgpevtype). The updated releases of libgpevtype has not shown up in the DEHS because the watch file is looking at the wrong location. The revised watch file should be: version=2 http://gpe.linuxtogo.org/download/source/libgpevtype-(.*)\.tar\.bz2 I have built the latest versions locally in order to test the updated gpe-calendar and there appear to be no compatibility problems with other gpe applications using these libraries. Please can the new upstream releases be uploaded to Debian so that I can close my RC bug? (Filing same report for libeventdb and tagging both as blocking 425093.) You can find a test package in my trivial apt repository: http://linux.codehelp.co.uk/packages/pool/main/libg/libgpevtypelibgpevtype_0.50-1.dsc This updated package also closes 424524 (this needs to be added to debian/changelog). As ever, I'm happy to be co-maintainer for any or all of these packages - there are frequently times when various GPE packages have to be updated and uploaded together and sharing the maintenance would make a lot of sense. My test packages have been built with this co-maintenance in place (just to shut up lintian) so if you use these packages, feel free to remove the Uploaders: field if you prefer not to take up this offer. --- System information. --- Architecture: amd64 Kernel: Linux 2.6.21-2-amd64 Debian Release: lenny/sid 500 unstablewww.linux.codehelp.co.uk 500 unstablewww.emdebian.org 500 unstableftp.uk.debian.org --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed ===-+-=== | -- Neil Williams = http://www.data-freedom.org/ http://www.nosoftwarepatents.com/ http://www.linux.codehelp.co.uk/ pgpUKLHgXJ9Z6.pgp Description: PGP signature ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- Source: libgpevtype Source-Version: 0.50-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of libgpevtype, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: libgpevtype-dev_0.50-1_i386.deb to pool/main/libg/libgpevtype/libgpevtype-dev_0.50-1_i386.deb libgpevtype1-dbg_0.50-1_i386.deb to pool/main/libg/libgpevtype/libgpevtype1-dbg_0.50-1_i386.deb libgpevtype1_0.50-1_i386.deb to pool/main/libg/libgpevtype/libgpevtype1_0.50-1_i386.deb libgpevtype_0.50-1.diff.gz to pool/main/libg/libgpevtype/libgpevtype_0.50-1.diff.gz libgpevtype_0.50-1.dsc to pool/main/libg/libgpevtype/libgpevtype_0.50-1.dsc libgpevtype_0.50.orig.tar.gz to pool/main/libg/libgpevtype/libgpevtype_0.50.orig.tar.gz A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. The same here; simply rebuilding netsurf from source without changes it works for me too. It seems that the package libcurl4-openssl isn't needed at all for netsurf to properly work. Perhaps a binNMU is due? I couldn't tell you, I'm not an expert. Regards, Manolo.

Bug#432408: Lintian Fixes
Greetings, I have done some work and got most of the lintian warnings etc... cleared up. There are two I am not sure what to do about so I just left them as is. Bug#433031: marked as done (qt4-x11: broken threading on alpha, hangs uselessly on startup)
Your message dated Wed, 18 Jul 2007 00:03:27 + with message-id [EMAIL PROTECTED] and subject line Bug#433031: fixed in qt4-x11 4.3.0-4 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- Package: qt4-x11 Version: 4.3.0-2 Severity: serious qt4-x11 is completely broken on alpha right now; any qt4 apps hang indefinitely on startup. This can be seen in any recent build logs for qt4-using packages. - QMutex::lock() is called, which in turn calls QBasicAtomic::fetchAndAddAcquire(1). - fetchAndAddAcquire() wraps an architecture-specific q_atomic_fetch_and_add_acquire_int() call. - the alpha implementation of this call is broken: it returns 1 on success because the retval is (old != -1), which should always be true. - as a result, fetchAndAddAcquire() returns true on alpha, but QMutex::lock() expects a successful call to return 0 rather than 1 and treats this as a failure. - QMutex::lock() falls through to a pthread-based wait for the lock (pthread_cond_wait()), which never returns because there are no other threads anywhere to signal the current thread. I believe that the attached patch fixes this problem; however, I am including debian-alpha on X-Debbugs-Cc because I'm not confident I understand the original reason for the (old != -1) check and would like some additional eyeballs on it. Applying this patch makes Qt apps work again for me, but these are all simple single-thread applications, so getting the locking semantics wrong would cause no problems here but would cause significant (and hard-to-debug) problems later. -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. Bug#433141: Clarifications on issues for this bug
Hi maintainers ! These bugs have different issues to solve before we may close them.. * Licence version: the licence under which the file is licenced (either 2 or 3.01) has to be cleared. * Location of the file: We already have three packages using it, with SPIP it will be 4, so it's time to think about packaging a separate package for the pear module. Furthermore, it's the only way to fulfill with the PHP licence since the licence applies to PHP and Zend only (and pear by extension I guess...) * Maintainability of the code: Although we can see that the base code provided by this file is valuable, the PEAR project seems dead or unmaintained... Is it possible to package a pear module that we know is dead ? Of coourse, a fork, or better, a commit access to the project would be perfect, but I don't have enough time for this.. Hope to hear so good news from you or anyone else ... Romain -- son, daddy left you were from you were four I've got to struggle 'cos I am poor she said, food is a very hard thing to find sometime I feel like I'm going out of my mind -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Le Wednesday 18 July 2007 03:59:40 Romain Beauxis, vous avez écrit : Of coourse, a fork, or better, a commit access to the project would be perfect, but I don't have enough time for this.. Another possibility is to switch back to some other codebase.. The basic question for me is: could php's xml parsing functions do an equivalent job for your application ? http://www.php.net/manual/fr/function.xml-parse.php Romain -- Ask no question, hear no lies !
