Bug#435532: Missing libpetsc

2007-08-02 Thread Alan Woodland

Looks like it's hit the archives now - want me to make an upload?

Also you can usually make the upload before the buildds have done the
building, and it tends to work. If it doesn't you can always request
a rebuild for a specific arch.

Newer eject refuse to eject a cdrom mounted under /cdrom. This render
this package nearly unusable as this is the major reason the package

 Reopening this as changing from using dpkg-architecture to uname in
 .so naming scheme makes this package require using ppc for powerpc
 packages. Some other architectures require different naming scheme as
 well.

What I don't understand for 434131 and this bug is why does the file
name need to include the arch name in any way? This looks like some
windows-y programming style and is really ugly an useless (unless I am
missing something).

 As you apparently have interest in having this package properly
 maintained, why not adopting it?

 I thought about that. I sent a ITA on february
and talked to faw by email few times. And i still
have interest.

 I think be better/nice the template file be fixed
by QA, and the QA ask for an update if necessary,
avoiding errors. Then i can check debian
scripts. After that, i will try to find a
sponsor to upload the package. Can be you if
you want.

 Only 'myphpmoney/installed' would come back, i guess.
'myphpmoney/webservers' could be left commented.

Bug#435656: Change in behaviour of gzreadline() caused debmirror to delete my whole mirror

2007-08-02 Thread Peter Baumann
Package: libcompress-zlib-perl
Version: 2.005-1
Severity: serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

After the upgrade to version 2.005-1 debmirror decided to delete my
whole debian mirror. And as i didn't pay attention during debmirror
updates this is really annoying.

The corresponding debmirror code is here:

 851 my $gunzf = gzopen($file, rb) or die $file: $!;
 852 my $line;
 853 my $res;
 854 my $loop = 1;
 855 while ($loop) {
 856   my $buf = ;
 857   while(($res = $gunzf-gzreadline($line)  0)
 858  !($line =~ /^$/)) {
 859 $buf = $buf . $line;
 860   }
 861   if ($res = 0) { #   THIS IS ALWAYS TRUE AFTER THE UPGRADE
 862 $loop = 0;
 863 next;
 864   }

I debuged it with print statements and found out the the above marked if
statement is alwasy true after the upgrade and thats why the code further down
the while statement is never reached.

I'm not sure if this is actually a problem in debmirror or in
libcompress-zlib-perl,
but as it worked before the upgrade it seems naturally to report the bug here.

Downgrading the packet fixed my problem. But now to downloading the mirror :-(

Bug#391203: marked as done (Upgrading snmpd from 5.2.2-3 to 5.2.3-1 hangs in snmpd.postinst)

---BeginMessage---
Package: snmpd
Version: 5.2.3-1
Severity: normal

I have noticed this on several machines, that upgrading snmpd just
sits there

I have taken a ps -ef --forest when it happens, and that shows:
root  4213  3193  0 12:24 pts/000:00:00  |   \_ apt-get install
snmpd
root  4448  4213  0 12:25 pts/000:00:00  |   \_
/usr/bin/dpkg --status-fd 11 --configure perl perl-modules libperl5.8
libperl-dev libsnmp-base libsnmp9 libsnmp-perl snmpd
root  4458  4448  0 12:26 pts/000:00:00  |   \_
/usr/bin/perl -w /usr/share/debconf/frontend /var/lib/dpkg/info/snmpd.postinst
configure 5.2.2-3
root  4469  4458  0 12:26 pts/000:00:00  |   \_
[snmpd.postinst] defunct

And this process tree never finishes. Hitting CTRL-C terminates the
snmpd.postinst and the apt-get install finishes with an error for snmpd.
A subsequent apt-get install -f apparently fixes that error and the system
seems to be in a good state afterwards. But apt-get install hangs and
requires manual intervention.

Bug#431706: Blocks all other package upgrades

2007-08-02 Thread Sami Liedes
package gnokii
severity 431706 critical
thanks

Hi,

gnokii in its current state can (possibly due to a limitation in
apt/aptitude) block all other packages in the system from upgrading.
See #435403. Hence I guess makes unrelated software on the system (or
the whole system) break. Downgrade if I'm wrong, but as I haven't
fixed this by hand, I haven't been able to upgrade anything for days.

Bug#424799: myphpmoney: affected by php4-removal

2007-08-02 Thread Christian Perrier
  I thought about that. I sent a ITA on february
 and talked to faw by email few times. And i still
 have interest.

  I think be better/nice the template file be fixed
 by QA, and the QA ask for an update if necessary,
 avoiding errors. Then i can check debian
 scripts. After that, i will try to find a
 sponsor to upload the package. Can be you if
 you want.

Well, I think you should adopt the package *now*. The last upload
fixed the templates (but broke the package...:-)) so it's now time to
adopt it , imho.

About sponsoring, I have not enough expertise in PHP stuff so I
wouldn't be a good sponsor because I couldn't really check your
changes.

Better find another sponsor...could be better if that could be a
Brazilian one, which would make the communication easier, of course.

Bug#435700: keepalived: FTBFS: conflicting types for 'loff_t'

2007-08-02 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Package: keepalived
Version: 1.1.13-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

Your package is failing to build with the following error:
In file included from /usr/include/net/ethernet.h:26,
 from ../include/vrrp_arp.h:29,
 from vrrp_arp.c:29:
/usr/include/sys/types.h:46: error: conflicting types for 'loff_t'

was here
/usr/include/sys/types.h:62: error: conflicting types for 'dev_t'
/usr/include/linux/types.h:13: error: previous declaration of 'dev_t'
was here

I'm guessing this is caused by the:
#include linux/if_packet.h

Or atleast, it seem to be doing something with the headers it shouldn't.

This doesn't seem to be a bug in keepalived, but in the linux kernel headers.
See #349610 for example, but I have to check first if its the fault of the
buildd or the kernel-headers.

Which says it's fixed in 2.6.21-1.

The buildd log for amd64 shows:
Toolchain package versions: linux-libc-dev_2.6.22-3

This also seems to be the only package having the problem, and it
happens on all arches. I think 349610 is something completly different.
But the bug might be in linux-libc-dev.

My goodness, so the purge doesn't work because it can't find pdftexconfig
anymore. I'll see if this bug has already been fixed by a more recent Debian
TexLive version, or if anything has changed recently.

Thank you for reporting!

 I've fixed this, added code to propagate inetd.conf in.telnetd

How's this upload going? If you're sponsor is busy or not available, I

There are a few minor packaging changes my AM suggested I make during
the NM package review. I'll prepare a new package with the changes this

Justification: Policy 7.5.1

Package installation fails if upgrading from a previous version of
keytouch, since the keyboard files used to belong to that package, and
keytouch-data does not specify a Replaces: field.

Current workaround is to retry the installation *after* the error. By
that time the previous version of keytouch will have been installed,
removing the file ownership.

The fix is already applied to the svn repo and will be uploaded soon.

The debhelper additions were trying to talk to debconf after db_stop.
I have a much improved postrm now which should be in 0.36-1.

 This is only true on i386 (the architecture that was uploaded by the
 maintainer) as the buildds were already switched to using libglib1.2ldbl... As
 this should only need a binNMU, I'm closing this bug.

 Can someone please schedule binNMUs for the following:

 twin_0.5.1-3, 1, Rebuild against libglib1.2ldbl, i386

This package is not binNMUable because the binary package has a different
version number than the source package (hiss).

Bug#435751: wcalc: incorrect license information in debian/copyright and wcalc.1

2007-08-02 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: wcalc
Version: 2.3-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.3

The debian/copyright file from the package says:

This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify
it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by
the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or
(at your option) any later version.

but the COPYRIGHT file from upstream says:

All code in the Wcalc distribution which is Copyright Kyle Wheeler or
which references this COPYRIGHT file is licensed under the GPL version 2
included below.

an the README file says:

Wcalc is made available under the GNU Public License (GPL), version 2.
The full text of the License is in the file titled COPYING as
distributed with the source, or is available here:
http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html

So, Wcalc seems to be distributed under GPLv2, not GPLv2+ as
debian/copyright says.

Moreover, wcalc.1 says:

COPYRIGHT
  wcalc is Copyright (C) 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 Kyle Wheeler.
  It is freely distributed, and can be modified and used freely for any

AFAIK, the as long as a copy of the modification... is incompatible
with the GPL (all versions).

Bug#435663: debmirror: Fix and an enhacement

2007-08-02 Thread Raphael Geissert
Package: debmirror
Version: 20070123
Followup-For: Bug #435663

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I installed latest debmirror on a sarge server (trying to fix what I reported
on my other bug report).
After fixing the other error I found debmirror not downloading any .deb/src/etc
file so I made some
modifications to it's code and ta-da.
After that debmirror was downloading all the files but in the post-cleanup it
was deleting all of them.
I found that by some reason apt-ftparchive was following some symlinks I
created on my local repository
(the one debmirror is mirroring in the final server) so the Release files
contain info like 'stable'
instead of 'etch'. Even tough this is not a bug on debmirror, it should better
try to resolve every path
name which might be a symlink.

The attachment is the patch for the two problems mentioned in this report and
the one of my other report
(#435574).

And FYI, the sarge server has libcompress-zlib-perl 1.42-1~bpo.1

Bug#435764: octave2.9: Depends on removed libcurl4 instead of libcurl3(-gnutls)

2007-08-02 Thread Phil Miller
Package: octave2.9
Version: 1:2.9.13-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 7.2

As the subject says, the just uploaded version of octave2.9, 1:2.9.13-1,
declares a Depends on libcurl4 = 7.16.2-1. libcurl4 was removed from
the archive in favor of libcurl3, to maintain consistency with SO names.
This makes the latest version uninstallable in unstable, whereas the
bin-NMU 1:2.9.12-2+b3 was fine with its dependence on libcurl3-gnutls.

Bug#435751: wcalc: incorrect license information in debian/copyright and wcalc.1

2007-08-02 Thread Kyle Wheeler

On Friday, August 3 at 02:23 AM, quoth Vincent Lefevre:

The debian/copyright file from the package says:

This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify
it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by
the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or
(at your option) any later version.

This is correct.

but the COPYRIGHT file from upstream says:

All code in the Wcalc distribution which is Copyright Kyle Wheeler or
which references this COPYRIGHT file is licensed under the GPL version 2
included below.

This is out of date (corrected in the current CVS).

an the README file says:

Wcalc is made available under the GNU Public License (GPL), version 2.
The full text of the License is in the file titled COPYING as
distributed with the source, or is available here:
http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html

Also out of date, and also corrected in current CVS.

So, Wcalc seems to be distributed under GPLv2, not GPLv2+ as
debian/copyright says.

True, the last distribution was thus. It's distribution rules have
been updated.

Moreover, wcalc.1 says:

COPYRIGHT
 wcalc is Copyright (C) 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 Kyle Wheeler.
 It is freely distributed, and can be modified and used freely for any
 purpose, as long as a copy of the modification is sent to Kyle Wheeler
 at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

AFAIK, the as long as a copy of the modification... is incompatible
with the GPL (all versions).

Ooops! That's... really outdated. It's fixed in CVS.

The next release (which should happen relatively soon-ish) will
contain the changes necessary to allow wcalc to be licensed under
newer versions of the GPL in addition to v2.

~Kyle

Bug#433456: I'm experiencing this problem as well

2007-08-02 Thread Charles Fry
Since we know that the file we are looking for is package.xml, is there any
reason not to specify that explicitely, instead of using . which isn't
working for some of us?

Charles

 I don't know what the extra character is at the end, either.

 In any case, I am running a stable installation, which may have something
 to do with it? If so, then dh-make-php's dependencies may be incorrect.

Bug#435656: Change in behaviour of gzreadline() caused debmirror to delete my whole mirror

2007-08-02 Thread Damyan Ivanov
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

- -=| Peter Baumann,  2.08.2007 14:55 |=-

 After the upgrade to version 2.005-1 debmirror decided to delete my
 whole debian mirror. And as i didn't pay attention during debmirror
 updates this is really annoying.

 The corresponding debmirror code is here:

  851 my $gunzf = gzopen($file, rb) or die $file: $!;
  852 my $line;
  853 my $res;
  854 my $loop = 1;
  855 while ($loop) {
  856   my $buf = ;
  857   while(($res = $gunzf-gzreadline($line)  0)
  858  !($line =~ /^$/)) {
  859 $buf = $buf . $line;
  860   }
  861   if ($res = 0) { #   THIS IS ALWAYS TRUE AFTER THE UPGRADE
  862 $loop = 0;
  863 next;
  864   }

I have a couple of guesses that you may help with:

The code above reads until either an empty $line appears, or $res is not
positive. Could it be possible that the file in question does no contain
empty lines and thus the inner while reads until EOF?

Or, perhaps $line needs a chomp in order to match /^$/ ?
(yes, that would mean a behaviour change)

Bug#435775: atokx: hard-coded, unsatisfiable library dependencies

2007-08-02 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: atokx
Version: 1.0-20
Severity: grave

The atokx package has the following hard-coded dependencies:

Depends: libc6 (= 2.0), libx11-6 | xlibs (= 4.0) | xlib6g (= 3.3.3.1),
libgtk1.2 (= 1.2), libglib1.2 (= 1.2), debconf | debconf-2.0, wget

libglib1.2 no longer exists in unstable; it has been replaced with
libglib1.2ldbl for the long-double ABI transition.

Since this ABI change does not affect the i386 architecture, atokx can
safely use libglib1.2ldbl instead of libglib1.2, but a sourceful upload is
needed to fix the hard-coded dependencies.
