The control file declares dependency on

   libpri-dev (= 1.4)

 But it requires

   libpri-dev (= 1.4.1)

This is because 1.4.1 provides bristuffed/libpri.h, which is not
 provided by earlier versions.

this was already reported in #439197. Thanks.

When building a new package, I noticed that the -p doesn't work (bug
378442), and also, dh_pycentral fails when there is a package in the
control file with ++ in the name, like libplayerc++2.

The combination of these two bugs makes it impossible for me to build
my package :(

Strangely, tests run just fine on alpha, amd64, powerpc, ia64, s390 and arm.

http://experimental.debian.net/build.php?pkg=libapache2-mod-perl2

My vague guess about the reason is that use of undefined variable in
socket.

Could it be that getprotobyname('tcp') returns undef?

P.S. I am on vacation until 5 of Sept.

Yes, the package should build-depend on netbase for /etc/protocols.

Bug#439335: CVE-2007-4131: GNU tar Directory Traversal Vulnerability

Severity: grave

- From CVE-2007-4131:
The vulnerability is caused due to an input validation error when
extracting tar archives. This can be exploited to extract files to
arbitrary locations outside the specified directory with the permissions
of the user running GNU tar by using the .. directory traversal
sequence in a specially crafted tar archive.

A patch is available in upstream CVS:
http://cvs.savannah.gnu.org/viewvc/tar/src/names.c?root=tarr1=1.63r2=1.64

The same portion of code is present also in versions 1.16 (stable) and
1.14 (oldstable), so this bug should be probably tracked and fixed there
too. However I'm not sure if there are other patches already applied
there to prevent this issue, so right now I'm reporting this bug for sid
only.

Cheers, Luca

Bug#438702: Asterisk v1.4.9~dfsg-1 Crashed

2007-08-24 Thread GNUbie
Hello all,

Although I already made a response to Mr. Tzafrir Cohen's original message
regarding this bug 4 days ago, I am now re-sending it to the Debian BTS for
record purposes.

On 8/19/07, Tzafrir Cohen [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

 Indeed.

So let's try to track this down.

Ok, here are the things I've done here on my Asterisk v1.4.9 on Debian
GNU/Linux Etch:

To get a core file:

 echo '/tmp/core.%e.%t' /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern

I did this.

Enable the -g flag to Asterisk by editing the init.d script (there's an
example in the default file but when I look at it now it seems to be
slightly wrong: it tries to mess with core_pattern as well).

I didn't follow this. What I did was I uncommented the line 21 of my
/etc/default/asterisk file with the line that look like this:

PARAMS=-F -g -vvv

Please install thepackage asterisk-dbg to produce useful backtraces.

I didn't installed the asterisk-dbg package. After starting the Asterisk
service through:

# /etc/init.d/asterisk start

I entered into the Asterisk shell then executed the command below:

CLI set verbose 10

So, after a few call attempts to a GSM mobile phone and PSTN telephone, the
Asterisk service crashed and you can download the core dump file it
generated at http://files-upload.com/files/47/core.asterisk-1.4.9 or at
http://www.filecrunch.com/file/~jab6ay . I hope that this core dump file
can help provide you information on what's the cause of the problem and a
possible solution on your side.

I would also like to add info about this crash problem that I think Asterisk
crashes when the caller is from a SIP (soft)phone calling to a PSTN
telephone because I remember that I've been using it calling from an analog
phone to a PSTN telephone and vice versa but the Asterisk don't crash or
even the channels are released properly after the call.

Thank you in advance.

More power to you!

GNUbie

It is hard for us to examine a core file when we don't have exactly the
same version.

It would be better if you used a binary of our own[1] and preferrably
the latest upstream version 1.4.11 (i.e. packages = 1:1.4.11~dfsg-1)

I would also like to add info about this crash problem that I think

To a PSTN telephone through what?
zaptel? analog or ISDN? BRI or PRI? Which card exactly?

What version of zaptel are you using?
If this was an ISDN interface, what version of libpri are you using?

Please provide as much information as possible. Whatever you may think
that is important or unusual about your setup.

Unfortunately, it is working fine for me and for many others, so it is
something specific to your setup.

All in all, a proper core dump with a known version will help us most.

Thanks a lot,
Faidon

1: If you use unstable, fetch the package from the archive. If you are
using etch, add
  deb http://pkg-voip.buildserver.net/debian etch main

Bug#439348: ftp.debian.org: Too low priority for libwpg-0.1-1

2007-08-24 Thread Sven Joachim
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: serious

The latest upload of openoffice.org-draw to unstable added a
dependency on libwpg-0.1-1 which is of priority extra. This
priority needs to be bumped to optional.

Rene, is the dependency correct? I would assume that a Recommends

to open WordPerfect presentations.

Yep, I noticed to late that (damn, dh_make which defaults to extra now)
that I uploaded with the wrong prio.

Install liblzo2-dev first and then install liblzo-dev.

liblzo2-dev can overwrite liblzo-dev but liblzo-dev can't overwrite

But Replaces shouldn't be used at all if both packages are meant to

Hello... again. O:-)

The sync() method of Spool does not honour the configured spool_path.
This causes data loss when the daemon exits but there are pending

calling lastfm.submit() *before* calling unlink().

Bug#438702: Asterisk v1.4.9~dfsg-1 Crashed

I am using an OpenWengo SIP softphone on top of MS Windows XP laptop
connected through a wireless network to the Asterisk PBX. Now, my PBX
server hardware is based on an old Intel Celeron 1Ghz with 512MB RAM,
Digium's Dev Kit with 1 FXO and 1 FXS, and an Atheros AR5005G PCMCIA card
because this server of mine also act as my access point, firewall, gateway

I personally built the above packages on my Debian GNU/Linux Etch
workstation and I got the source packages from the Debian Unstable
repository.

Unfortunately, it is working fine for me and for many others, so it is
 something specific to your setup.

Please do this scenario maybe at least 5 times until your Asterisk crash.
Your call will be disconnected between 1 to 3 minutes but try to dial again
and again even if you get an error because for sure, your zap channel will
not be released, until such time that you can dial again to a PSTN number.

All in all, a proper core dump with a known version will help us most.

Ok, I will do this later..

Thank you.

environment. Internet was not accessible from the build systems.

libqt4-qt3support can be installed alongside incompatible qt4 libs, eg:

libqt4-qt3support 4.3.0-4

The above combination of packages inhibited wpagui to start for a user.

Bug#439372: ocsinventory-server: fresh installation -- complete failure

2007-08-24 Thread Filip Van Raemdonck
Package: ocsinventory-server
Version: 1.01-2
Severity: serious

Trying to install ocs-inventory from scratch. The database is on a
different computer.
Several bugs cropped up, and I still not haven't gotting things working:

1) Debconf asked whether I wanted to use dbconfig for database
installation or that I should check the ocsinventory /usr/share/doc
directory otherwise. Well, there is no info in the ocsinventory-server
documentation on how to prepare a database (which I would have
preferred personally)

2) Choosing dbconfig prompted for a database administrator password. But
it did not ask for the dbadmin username. The mysql root user does not
have remote access on that particular server...

3) Continuing as is, debconf complained that a mysql server would be
needed and if I wanted to abort/retry/ignore. As far as I could tell, it
had not even done anything yet so the retry made no sense at all. And
the database was to be on another host...
Ignoring, things failed completely, because, well, there was no mysql
running on the host ocsinventory was configuring on.

4) dpkg-reconfigure -plow could not run at this point because the
package had not been configured yet. I had to dpkg-reconfigure debconf
and set priority to low there in order to retry. The package could have
failed gracefully and allowed reconfiguration instead.

5) I prepared a dbadmin user on the mysql server so that the package
configuration could do what it had to, remotely. Trying dpkg --configure
-a: this time I was prompted for host and username. Great. Still
complaining about a mysql server requirement, ignore. Configuration then
failed because the mysql-client command was not installed!

6) After installing the mysql-client package, configuration finally
succeeded. Trying to browse http://localhost/ocsinventory/ I got an
internal server error...
The apache error logs showed that the application could not connect to
mysql; it turned out the configuration had not granted itself permission
to connect to the server remotely.

7) Fixing remote connectivity on the mysql server, the next browse

Hi

I tried it again here on an amd64 machine and a friend of mine started it on
an i386 machine and it worked without any problems. Therefore, I dare
lowering the bugreport to important, so that it is not blocking the testing
migration. I will forward your bugreport to the upstream developer.

Cheers

Bug#439378: pdns: FTBFS (on etch)

2007-08-24 Thread Lionel Elie Mamane
Package: pdns
Version: 2.9.21-2
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

pdns 2.9.21-2 fails to build from source on an etch system; maybe one
of the build-depends needs to be versioned? Or a build-conflicts missing?

Here are the versions of the build-depends I have:

ii debhelper 5.0.42 helper programs for debian/rules
ii po-debconf 1.0.8 manage translated Debconf templates files
with gettext
ii dpatch 2.0.21 patch maintenance system for Debian source
packages
ii libtool1.5.22-4 Generic library support script
ii flex 2.5.33-11 A fast lexical analyzer generator.
ii bison 2.3.dfsg-4 A parser generator that is compatible with
YACC
ii docbook-utils 0.6.14-1 Convert Docbook files to other formats (HTML,
RTF, PS, man, PDF)
ii libmysqlclient15-dev 5.0.32-7etch1 mysql database development files
ii libpq-dev 8.1.9-0etch1 header files for libpq4 (PostgreSQL library)
ii libssl-dev 0.9.8c-4 SSL development libraries, header files and
documentation
ii tdb-dev1.0.6-13 Trivial Database - development files
ii libgdbm-dev1.8.3-3GNU dbm database routines (development files)
ii libldap2-dev 2.1.30-13.3OpenLDAP development libraries
ii libsqlite3-dev 3.3.8-1.1 SQLite 3 development files
ii libsqlite0-dev 2.8.17-2 SQLite development files

Bug#439357: X server faild-no usable configuration

2007-08-24 Thread Lukasz Szybalski
I actually upgraded to testing. That didn't work.

I have reinstalled stable again and it has worked the second time.
I am not sure what I could do differently. other then running
installgui the first time and install the second time.

I have installed package 915resolution to fix the 1440x900 resolution
which was not in the list...

Right now the system is working.
Would you like me to send you any configuration file that might help?

I have untested packages for stable at:

If you have an amd64 box you can just install the deb. Otherwise if you
rebuild it from that .dsc/.diff.gz/.orig.tar.gz on your machine and can
let me know that you can reproduce the bug on the old one but not the
new that would be useful.

I need to test it myself tonight.

Version: 7.16.4-3
Severity: serious
Justification: OpenSSL/GPLv2 conflict

The latest version of libcurl3-gnutls depends on libssh2-0 and
libgnutls13. libssh2-0 depends on libssl0.9.8. libgnutls13 contains
GPLv2 portions (the ones, for example, used in libcurl3-gnutls). The
GPLv2 is not compatible with the OpenSSL license, which is why we have
libcurl3-gnutls in the first place.

Please fix this.

If you have an amd64 box you can just install the deb. Otherwise if you

I can build it myself if I need them, but I don't use xfce4-terminal
from Etch. I just wondered why a security related bug that is fixed for
nearly 2 weeks in Sid is still not fixed in Etch.

Because no one has picked this up and looked into it I guess.

I've tested the packages above in a stable chroot now.

Debdiff is:
Depends: libatk1.0-0 (= 1.12.2), libc6 (= 2.3.5-1),
[-libdbus-1-3,-] {+libdbus-1-3 (= 0.94),+}

libdbus-1-3 is 1.0.2-1 in stable.

0.3.1.12rc2-1 is current in stable.

libglib2.0-0 (= 2.12.0), libgtk2.0-0 (= 2.8.0),
libstartup-notification0 (= 0.8-1), libvte4 (= 1:0.12.1),
libx11-6, libxfce4util4 (= [-4.3.99.1)-] {+4.3.99.2)+}

4.3.99.2 is in stable.

Version: [-0.2.5.6rc1-2-] {+0.2.5.6rc1-2etch1+}

Security team, the packages above from
http://the.earth.li/~huggie/xfce4-terminal-fix/
are confirmed working and hopefully have the right distribution
(stable-security) and priority (high).

Can I upload them somewhere?

Bug#439389: dependency changes break other packages

2007-08-24 Thread Christoph Pfister
Package: libxine1
Version: 1.1.7-2
Severity: serious

Most of the dependencies were turned into Recommends: beginning with
version 1.1.7-2. This renders the package unusable for almost
(possibly that there's exception; but I can't imagine any) every user
of the library; except for those people who install the recommended
packages by default.

The issue is that even with the announced change of apt to install
those packages by default this problem will not be solved
sufficiently. The root of the trouble is that although those
dependencies aren't absolute for xine-lib itself many of them are
needed by the users of the library. And the main point is: those users
can't depend on those.

There are basic reasons for that: The users don't access those
libraries directly, they don't know which libraries are needed and
even less which version; all that stuff is internal to xine and
therefore only libxine can deal with those dependencies correctly.

For example an X output plugin: all the user knows is that it is an X
plugin - something around 20 lines in the header is shared between the
plugin and the user - but it doesn't know whether shm, xv, xvmc,
opengl, sdl etc is used. Even less it knows which additional libraries
are needed for those plugins to work.

In the current situation it is very easy to create gentoo-like breakages [1].

For the solution: Because this issue can't be solved at other places
than libxine (as an example: it would be wrong for amarok to depend on
libmodplug0c2 to allow playing mp3 files; and it's equally wrong if
you can't play those files because of the way libxine deals with
dependencies [2]), there are two possible approaches:

1) Revert to the old way and using Depends:. I know that you don't
like that idea; but on the other hand I wonder why you don't find the
current recommends-way-of-doing-things problematic.
2) Split the output plugins into different packages, like
libxine1-xxx-all (which depends on the others and is installed by
default) and libxine1-xxx-name-of-plugin, which hard depends on the
needed stuff. You could do the following split: normal-x-plugins (shm,
xv, xvmc, gl), normal-xcb-plugins (shm, xv) and for each of the
special ones one package (sdl, dfb, ...). I don't see much sense in
splitting the demuxers / decoders (apart from legal reasons; but in
this case you'd have to rip away the offending stuff from the source
anyway). I think it's just annoying for most users to only have a
half-baken/codeced system.

I made the bug report rc to prevent this package from entering testing
until this issue hasn't been fully solved (to avoid needless annoyance
for users).

Christoph

Bug#439392: backup-manager: password disclosure in backup uploads

2007-08-24 Thread Micha Lenk
Package: backup-manager
Version: 0.7.5-3
Severity: critical
Tags: security
Justification: root security hole

Hi,

I just discovered that backup-manager disclosures the FTP password
during a running FTP upload in the process list.

A user which has shell access on the computer simply needs to run the command

   ps wax | grep backup-manager

to get the FTP username, hostname and password. The output is something
like (I replaced here the sensitive data by FTPHOST, FTPUSER and FTPPASS):

 3796 pts/1SN+0:00 /bin/bash /usr/sbin/backup-manager -v
12647 pts/1RN+0:47 /usr/bin/perl /usr/bin/backup-manager-upload -v
--ftp-purge -m=ftp -h=FTPHOST -u=FTPUSER -p=FTPPASS ...

With these data the attacking user is able to login into the same FTP
space where the archives created by backup-manager are uploaded to. So
the attacking user is also able to simply download these archive and
extract them as a normal user -- with full access on all included files,
even on those originally accessible by root only. :-(

Have a nice day
   Micha

If you would like to NMU schroot in the meantime, I would welcome it.

Bug#439421: speedbar: Recursive `require' for feature `sb-info' with emacs22

2007-08-24 Thread Matthieu Imbert
Package: speedbar
Version: 1:1.0pre3-7
Severity: grave
File: /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/speedbar/sb-info.el

since upgrading to emacs22, it is no longer possible to access the
info mode in emacs. When trying to execute the info command in
emacs, i get the following error message: Recursive `require' for
feature `sb-info'.

The emacs-lisp backtrace is:

Debugger entered--Lisp error: (error Recursive `require' for feature
`sb-info')
  require(sb-info)
  eval((require (quote sb-info)))
  eval-after-load(info (require (quote sb-info)))

I have the following emacs related packages installed:

emacs22 emacs22-el emacs22-common-non-dfsg ecb jde debian-el
emacs-goodies-el nxml-mode

i also still have emacs21 emacs21-el emacs21-common-non-dfsg

After searching for this, i first found a bug report related to
emacs-wiki and suggesting to purge emacs-wiki, but i never installed
this package.

This post:
https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/ess-help/2007-January/003873.html says
that sb-info.el is part of cedet, whereas it actually seems more to be
part of speedbar, at least from a debian package point of view. Also
the post points to a solution which can be found in the latest version
of sb-info.el (version 1.20 here
http://cedet.cvs.sourceforge.net/cedet/cedet/speedbar/sb-info.el?view=log).

I have the following emacs related packages installed:

emacs22 emacs22-el emacs22-common-non-dfsg ecb jde debian-el
emacs-goodies-el nxml-mode

i also still have emacs21 emacs21-el emacs21-common-non-dfsg

After searching for this, i first found a bug report related to
emacs-wiki and suggesting to purge emacs-wiki, but i never installed
this package.

This post:
https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/ess-help/2007-January/003873.html says
that sb-info.el is part of cedet, whereas it actually seems more to be
part of speedbar, at least from a debian package point of view. Also
the post points to a solution which can be found in the latest version
of sb-info.el (version 1.20 here
http://cedet.cvs.sourceforge.net/cedet/cedet/speedbar/sb-info.el?view=log).

since upgrading to emacs22, it is no longer possible to access the
info mode in emacs. When trying to execute the info command in

This is fixed in speedbar 1:1.0pre4-2.

After searching for this, i first found a bug report related to

That post gave bad advice, for it was not the fault of emacs-wiki.

Yes, i saw this bug to.
Now i just upgraded to 2007f-11 which happily deleted my /etc/timezone.

This is an expected behaviour, version 2007f-10 destroy your settings,
2007f-11 fix that by putting the system in a more consistent way.

Just run dpkg-reconfigure tzdata to reconfigure your timezone.

Bug#439426: Package should be updated for libpurple/pidgin

2007-08-24 Thread Ari Pollak
Package: galago-gaim-feed
Version: 0.5.0-2
Severity: serious

The galago-gaim-feed package currently does nothing in sid, since the
gaim package is just a transitional one to install pidgin. A version of
this package that works with libpurple and/or pidgin should be uploaded,
and this package made a transitional one that depends on the new
package.

*** Please type your report below this line ***
Hi

kdelibs 4:3.5.7.dfsg.1-5 moved /usr/bin/kstartupconfig from kdelibs4c2a to
kdelibs4-dev (svn r7067), while /usr/bin/startkde (ksmserver 4:3.5.7-2+b1)
still calls it while starting KDE:
[...]
kstartupconfig
if test $? -ne 0; then
xmessage -geometry 500x100 Could not start kstartupconfig. Check your
installation.
fi
[...]

Existing KDE installs still start up after displaying the error message, new
installs complain and can't call the default config wizard anymore (without
kdelibs4-dev being installed).

Regards
Stefan Lippers-Hollmann

Bug#425897: Still FTBFS (usually) for me

2007-08-24 Thread Dario Minnucci (midget)
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi Daniel,

First of all, I didn't see any of your comments to the bug before it was
closed, because you never CC'd me or 425897-submitter...

Very sorry. My fault. :(

With the latest version, the package still failed to build for me. I had a
look at the tests, and it appears that at least linux-ext2.t runs df and
compares the results with the results from the Perl module. This is just
begging for a race condition, though, and that's probably what's causing
it to FTBFS on my system.

Can you try to rebuild the package in a different machine and post a breif
report.

Sorry for the delay.

Cheers.
