Bug#442424: xserver-xorg-input-wacom: Please provide packages for xserver-xorg-core 1.4
Thanks for the heads-up! It's good to have this latest patch confirmed. Hopefully it will result in a new upstream release in the next couple of days. I have translation patches flowing in at present from the 'Smith' project review, and I'll have a chat with the xorg maintainers about the possibility of pulling the needed patches from 1.4.1 early. So with a bit of luck this shouldn't stay broken for too much longer... Bug#444634: #444634: libwww-mechanize-shell-perl: build times out
On 30/09/07 at 22:04 +0300, Damyan Ivanov wrote: tags 444636 unreproducible moreinfo thanks Hi, Lucas, It seems both me and Gregor Herrmann can't reproduce this problem. Gregor had some failures due to entries in /etc/hosts that matched the local host name but pointed to IP addresses used by non-configured network interfaces. This caused tests to clearly fail on his machine. Fixing this, the build completes with no oddities. Could something like this be causing problems during your builds? It might, but then libwww-mechanize-shell-perl is the only package affected. Bug#444815: evolution-exchange: Package unusable due to problem with evolution-exchange-storage
Package: evolution-exchange Version: 2.10.3.dfsg-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Connections to Exchange no longer work. This appears to be because of version mismatches between versions of evolution-exchanger-storage and evolution. The package owns /usr/lib/evolution/2.10/evolution-exchange-storage, but there is no evolution-exchange-storage binary to be found in /usr/lib/evolution/2.12, and evolution fails to connect to the Exchange server at all. This, though, is something that the perl team agrees on is a bug within their own rows, so a workaround for it isn't required, a fix for it in the perl packages is pending. A workaround would propably be to build-conflict with libxml-sax-perl, but I'm not convinced that this would be of real help, as it is a _wrong_ build-conflict because it doesn't really conflict with it. John Halton wrote: Joost Yervante Damad wrote: Hello, Can you please try with wxwidgets version 2.6.3.2.2-1 ? There was a problem in an earlier version with the new gnome/gtk+. Thanks, Joost Thanks. The new wxwidgets is only in Sid for AMD at the moment, but once the i386 version arrives I'll give it a try. Can we assume that this bug exists specifically with reference to Gnome = 2.20 as pointed out in [EMAIL PROTECTED] Is this simply a problem with the Debian versions or would it require intervention from upstream? Are we getting so many problems with Audacity because it is not specifically written for GNU/Linux systems? This appears to be also related to problems with transliteration in Audacity wrt swedish. I'll have to find a ref for that. I'm just trying to understand the issues at present. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Why shouldn't there be a versioning for the modules? If libraries are in a separate package (as they should be) versioninig might be appropiate. It is very common to have plugins built from the same source package and to not version them, which upstream usually doesn't know about. Bug#444666: deleted my modified powerbtn script on upgrade w/o warning
Torsten Werner wrote: Everything is explained in NEWS.Debian. Actually, no, your NEWS.Debian mentions the old log files and the logrotate configuration file but fails to mention that all acpid files are also hosed by this upgrade. | You should check in preinst, by comparing the md5sums of the | installed file and the one recorded in /var/lib/dpkg/info, if the file | has been modified. That is not an exported API of dpkg, just an undocumented implementation detail. I do not want to rely on that. But you can reassign the bug to dpkg if you think it is worth fixing. http://wiki.debian.org/DpkgConffileHandling dpkg offers a defined interface to /var/lib/dpkg/info already: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~dpkg-query -W -f='${Conffiles}\n' pdmenu /etc/pdmenurc 58a28d70ece0c49c19449cdd2fca3bec /etc/menu-methods/pdmenu e8df1e9bdee28d52a42d4ab3feeb246a /etc/menu-methods/pdmenu-x11 643ffbeacd367532a8e7a97536b90692 /etc/menu-methods/pdmenu-vc 1619fec77b54c1531dd9d296ea305c1c However, in this actual case, dpkg no longer knows about the conffiles since your package has already dropped them, so the only way to fix things is to embed the md5sums of the original conffiles in the postinst script. -- see shy jo signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- Package: disc-cover Version: 1.5.4-3 Severity: wishlist Hi, I'm currently migrating from tetex to texlive and I had to uninstall disc-cover as it depends on tetex-bin, tetex-base and tetex-extra. So I tried to rebuild the package doing the following: - I dropped the tetex-bin and tetex-base dependencies as tetex-extra brings them. - I changed the tetex-extra dependency for tetex-extra | texlive-latex-extra. With theses changes, disc-cover can be installed on my computer and is working. I don't know if texlive-latex-extra is the correct minimal dependency, that's why I cced the bug to the debian tex maintainers list (if I was wrong doing this I apology). Bug#443702: I'm not MIA
Could you please avoid sending NMU's diff to an active maintainer ? I'll fix fuse soon. Moreover adding dpatch dependency seems to be crap, because I don't think fuse source needs dpatch at all. A proper fix would be to figure out why module building targets does depend on dpatch. Regards, Adam. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#444562: Bug#441161: bibletime - FTBFS: configure: error: Failed to compile the test program to check the Sword version
On 10/1/07, Cyril Brulebois [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: No. This issue is completely valid. The .la file shipped with libsword-dev references libcurl.la. Indeed, and that's the one I looked at when filing this bugreport: Well, you didn't mention it in the bugreport. All you mentioned was the output of a faulty libtool. Instead of adding a dependency, a better fix would be to fix the .la file to not include the reference to libcurl.la if it is not needed. That's another way. But there's definitely a problem on libsword-dev AFAICT. The .la file is broken. It lists a lot of dependencies that aren't really needed, which can be verified by looking at the header files. After talking about this in IRC with Julian Cristau and Steve Langasek, we came to the conclusion that the best solution for this problem might be to just stop shipping the .la file. -- Besos, Marga -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Hi, * Adam Cécile (Le_Vert) [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2007-10-01 21:38]: Could you please avoid sending NMU's diff to an active maintainer ? [...] Well he did it like it is described in the developers reference: Make sure that the package's bugs that the NMU is meant to address are all filed in the Debian Bug Tracking System (BTS). If they are not, submit them immediately. Wait a few days for the response from the maintainer. If you don't get any response, you may want to help them by sending the patch that fixes the bug. Don't forget to tag the bug with the patch keyword. So why not being thankful about help you get instead of being pissed off? Bug#372470: marked as done (FTBFS with GCC 4.2: jam0 segfaults)
Your message dated Mon, 01 Oct 2007 20:47:04 + with message-id [EMAIL PROTECTED] and subject line Bug#372470: fixed in ftjam 2.5.2-1.1 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- Package: ftjam Version: 2.5.2-1 jam0 segfaults (at least on powerpc) when I compile it with a snapshot of GCC 4.2. I'm not entirely sure whether this is a compiler bug or one in your package, but from other cases like these it is likely that your package is doing something wrong and that newer optimizations exhibit the problem. Maybe you or your upstream can investigate. If everything fails, I can try to find someone who knows C/GCC well. I've done some preliminary investigation which shows where the error is. When you compile jam0 with gcc 4.2 (from the gcc-snapshot) package, you'll get a segfault. When you drop the optimization for rule.c to -O1, it works. So the problem seems to be there. I wonder if it's related. It indeed is. The problem is $ENV{http_proxy}. The test scripts set up a local web server and then connect to it via the 'external' address of the host. Almost all of the test scripts delete http_proxy from the environment, with the exception of t/24-source-file.t. If http_proxy is set and the test web server isn't reachable by the proxy, t/24-source-file.t can't send 'GET /quit_server' to the server and the server never exits, while the test script hangs waiting for the child to terminate. This is also CPAN #29455. I just sent the comments there as well. The 'Useless content call' messages come from the same code path (ie. when http_proxy is set) and happen because Test::HTTP::LocalServer::stop() calls LWP::Simple::get() in a void context. Checking the result would be a good idea, and I have suggested it upstream. The simplest fix is to unset http_proxy and HTTP_PROXY in debian/rules when calling the 'test' target. Patch attached. According to http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4802619, it seems I am correct, and the whole browser exiting is due to a defect in the Java plug-in. I hate crappy non-free software! I also cannot reproduce the crash with appletviewer--only with epiphany or iceweasel. -- Sam Morris http://robots.org.uk/ PGP key id 1024D/5EA01078 3412 EA18 1277 354B 991B C869 B219 7FDB 5EA0 1078 signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
