Bug#453050: Same problem here
Same problem here. Just upgraded to 3.0.24-6etch7 and my Windows machine's refuse to show several directories. Note that smbclient (//localhost/...) does show the directories, so this is really weird. I also noticed that the info smbclient shows is all screwed up: +(521 ~)# smbclient //localhost/projects -U arnova ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Password: Domain=[EINSTEIN] OS=[] Server=[___] smb: \ Notice what the OS= Server= show. This was previously: Domain=[EINSTEIN] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.24] So I don't know what changed in this security update, but things seem *really* screwed up. Downgrading to 3.0.24-6etch5 also solved my problem here. I have several machine's here running Debian 4.0/i386 and ALL suffer from the same issue. -- Ing. Bug#453102: samba mount from Windows does not show all directories and files
Package: samba Version: 3.0.14a-3sarge9 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Unfortunately this latest samba package introduced a new bug: Whereas the last package (3.0.14a-3sarge7) did not work with smbfs/smbmount from Linux clients, this newest one (3.0.14a-3sarge9) introduced an even worse new bug: From windows clients the shares mounted do not show all the directories and files existent on the share. Some of them, though being there, are just not displayed in Windows explorer, others show up without problem. I do not understand why, because the directories have exactly the same owners and rights. Maybe their names can give some clues (these are just arbitrary examples): not displayed: C29TH-95_F21-34 displayed normally: C01SX-18-1-FC2-f17-22 Both of them are directories. Both of them are displayed correctly from Linux clients, both mounted by smbfs or cifs. I had to revert to the buggy 3.0.14a-3sarge7 package that at least works with Windows clients properly. But we have some important old Redhat machines at our Institute with kernel 2.4 that are not capable to mount CIFS, only SMB. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to identify the problem. We should not care about old ( etch) hunspells... Bug#447464: [Fwd: Re: Debian: libfoundation: useful to keep?]
I've been talking to upstream about adopting this package, their thoughts on this RC bug: Forwarded Message From: Paul Wise [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Helge Hess [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED], Frank Reppin [EMAIL PROTECTED] I would guess the shown bug is a gnustep-make packaging issue and needs to be fixed. Apparently gnustep-make is not properly versioned, you are trying to build libFoundation with gnustep-make 2.0 which is API incompatible with 1.1x. [Summary: gnustep-make2 should live in a gnustep-make2 package, not in gnustep-make1, this has potential to break a lot more software] Correct, we have gnustep-make 2.0.1 in Debian sid/unstable. There don't seem to have been any bugs filed about this change, I guess not many GNUStep folks/developers use Debian sid. Can libfoundation1.1 work with gnustep-make2? If so, perhaps it would be good to remove 1.0 and have 1.1 uploaded instead, if any packages that use it are compatible with version 1.1, I don't see any packages in Debian that use it. -- bye, pabs http://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

I can confirm this bug meetoo for 3.0.14a-3sarge9, and also for me downgrading to 3sarge4 fix immediately the truble. I've also some etch installation, but i'm stopped to 3.0.24-6etch5 and i'm not so brave to upgrade. ;) I can confirm also roaming profile troubles, but this is not a different bug, but the same one: roaming profiles are not sincronized because of errors in the folders that have a big quantity of files or files with long filenames, as cookie. For many users, while tracking the problem, simply empty the cookie folder solves the roaming profile syncronization error. -- dott. Bug#453150: Broken Roaming Profiles with 3.0.24-6etch6 Debian package
Package: samba Version: 3.0.24-6etch6 Severity: grave After upgrading from 3.0.24-6etch5 to 3.0.24-6etch6 users could not load their profiles at login anymore. Errors popped out regarding problems loading insignificant files from their profiles, such as cookies, links to recently opened files, Java cache files, etc. This caused Windows to open up a new temporary profile, making everyone lose their settings. In some cases files on network shares are hidden, or have wrong/strange/cut file names or can't be copied/moved. This has been testet with WinXP and W2K clients. I downgraded back to 3.0.24-6etch5 packages, and things seem to be working fine again. ii samba3.0.24-6etch6 ii samba-common 3.0.24-6etch6 Kernel 2.6.18-5-686 #1 SMP Wed Oct 3 00:12:50 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux Cheers, Marcus -- Well, it just seemed wrong to cheat on an ethics test. -- Calvin -- The dynamics of inter-being and mono logical imperatives in Dick and Jane : A study in psychic transrelational gender modes. Just wondering, are you using this package? I was thinking about asking for removal, rather. If you want to maintain it, go ahead. If you don't, feel free to NMU, or I'll fix it eventually (if I don't get it removed before) cheers, Michael -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? If it can be a further clue to fix/check the fix the size of dirs doesn't seem to matter too much. I've experienced the same problem with dirs with just 150 files. Names too aren't the problem. I had the chance to move them around... and files that didn't show up could appear if grouped with others differently. It just seems how file names reach a buffer/filter. Bug#453126: [Pkg-octave-devel] Bug#453126: octplot: doesn't work at all
Am Dienstag, den 27.11.2007, 08:18 -0700 schrieb Wesley J. Landaker: Subject: octplot: doesn't work at all Package: octplot Version: 0.4.0-3 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable octplot doesn't work at all. 1) It doesn't automatically get into octave's path, so you have to use addpath. 2) Doing that doesn't help, because it doesn't work with octave2.9, even though that's what version the package depends on. Well, there's a reason for 1), namely 2). The reason that there's no new version in Debian is that there's no new version from upstream. Octave changed internals and Octplot's author is busy with Octave itself. So, Octplot's development is currently frozen: http://www.nabble.com/Plotting-problem-Octave-2.9.13-tf4511610.html#a12898162 Basically, it's absolutely broken currently, which is a shame. I'm pretty sure Shai (Octplot's author) won't refuse any offer to help. Thomas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#452872: new libxml-sax-perl version at the pkg-perl SVN repository
Hi, I have prepared a proposed new version of libxml-sax-perl, closing all the open bugs including these two RC ones (#430118 and #452872). I just pushed the packaging into the pkg-perl Alioth repository at svn://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-perl/trunk/libxml-sax-perl The full changelog can be seen at http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-perl/trunk/libxml-sax-perl/debian/changelog?op=file The patch I sent to #430118 corresponds to r9825. There were a few bugs in it that I fixed since; see r9834, r9861 and r9866. I can knit together a new patch targeted specifically at #430118 if really needed, but I'd much prefer to have the whole updated package go in as a maintainer upload. Jay, please comment.
