Package: xserver-xorg-input-joystick
Version: 1:1.3.0-2
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

xserver-xorg-input-joystick generally fails to build from source;
http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=xserver-xorg-input-joystick;ver=1%3A1.3.0-2;arch=amd64;stamp=1193584943
is a typical report, complete with the following errors:

../../src/jstk_key.c:32:32: error: X11/extensions/XKB.h: No such file or
directory
../../src/jstk_key.c:33:35: error: X11/extensions/XKBstr.h: No such file or

../../src/jstk_key.c:34:35: error: X11/extensions/XKBsrv.h: No such file or

../../src/jstk_key.c: In function 'jstkInitKeys':
../../src/jstk_key.c:53: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or
'__attribute__' before 'xkbnames'
[etc.]

AFAICT, x11proto-kb-dev ships the relevant headers; could you please
add it to Build-Depends:?

Thanks!

Bug#452167: xserver-xorg-core: xserver crashes briefly after startup of window manager

2007-12-08 Thread Julien Cristau
retitle 452167 Xorg hangs shortly after the window manager starts
kthxbye

On Tue, Nov 20, 2007 at 20:21:12 +0100, Wolf Wiegand wrote:

after upgrading to the the above version, the xserver on my machine
hangs briefly after login on gdm - the window manager is started,
and after a few moments (between 5 and 25 seconds), the xserver
hangs (although the mouse is still usable), and I have to kill
 the xserver using the SysReqKey.

Downgrading to 2:1.4-3 makes these problems go away.

What I've tried to fix this problem (unsuccessfully):

 - disable DRI in xorg.conf by putting 'Option NoDRI' (This does not
seem to work, xorg.log still showed that libdri.so was loaded.
xorg.conf(5) unfortunately does not tell how to disable DRI.)
 - rename libdri.so to s.th. else so that libdri.so is not loaded

After some crashes, the following lines appeared repeatedly at the end
 of Xorg.0.log:

tossed event which came in late
  mieqEnequeue: out-of-order valuator event; dropping.

These lines mean that the server is stuck, but the SIGIO signal handler
is still getting run.

Which window manager are you using? Can you try to see where the X
server is hanging using gdb (from another machine)?

Thanks,
Julien

Bug#380825: gnue-common: Patch to add missing file encoding (needed by python 2.5)

2007-12-08 Thread Michael Bienia
Hello,

I've applied the changes from the proposed NMU to the Ubuntu package of
gnue-common. I needed also a small patch to setupext/install_data.py to
make python 2.5 happy (it complained about non-ascii chars inside the
file). I applied the patch inline as otherwise the patch gets de-applied
before this file is used in the clean target.

Bug#454945: insight: FTBFS on 64 bit arches: gdbtk-register.c:348: warning: cast from pointer to integer of different size

2007-12-08 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Package: insight

Hi,

Your package is failing to build on the 64 bit arches with the following
error:
cc1: warnings being treated as errors
.././gdb/gdbtk/generic/gdbtk-register.c: In function 'get_register_name':
.././gdb/gdbtk/generic/gdbtk-register.c:348: warning: cast from pointer to
integer of different size

Note that there are plenty of warnings like that, but the rest doesn't
seem to be compiled with -Werror.

Bug#454760: e2fsprogs: CVE-2007-5497 multiple integer overflows

2007-12-08 Thread Nico Golde
Hi Theodore,
I fixed this issue in testing-security. The patch I attached
first and the one used in the stable DSA is incomplete in my
opinion. Attached is a complete fix for this used in the
testing-security upload.

Kind regards
Nico

Bug#424776: achims-guestbook: affected by php4-removal

2007-12-08 Thread Frank S. Thomas
Hello,

Since the 0-day NMU policy is still in force (see [1]), I'm going to do a
Non-maintainer upload now to fix this bug and an other policy violation

clean target in debian/rules). The diff between the current version and my
NMU is available at:

Your package is failing to build on amd64 and powerpc with a simular
error. On amd64 it shows:
touch stamp-picdir
if [ x != x ]; then \
  cc -c -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -g -O2 -m32 -I.
-I../../../../libiberty/../include -W -Wall -Wtraditional -pedantic
../../../../libiberty/regex.c -o pic/regex.o; \
else true; fi
cc -c -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -g -O2 -m32 -I. -I../../../../libiberty/../include -W
-Wall -Wtraditional -pedantic ../../../../libiberty/regex.c -o regex.o
In file included from /usr/include/features.h:354,

 from ../../../../libiberty/regex.c:130:
/usr/include/gnu/stubs.h:7:27: error: gnu/stubs-32.h: No such file or directory

Note that it's trying to build something 32 bit (-m32). On powerpc
it's trying to build something 64 bit instead.

I see no reason why you would need to build 32 bit binaries for a 64
bit arch when building a cross compiler.

Bug#454971: libpam-mount: FTBFS: checking for pkg-config... no

2007-12-08 Thread Kurt Roeckx

Hi,

Your package is failing to build with the following error:

found or is too old. Make sure it
is in your PATH or set the PKG_CONFIG environment variable to the full

Hi,

When building virt-viewer 0.0.2-1 I get the following error:

Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gnutls.pc'

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GTKVNC_CFLAGS
and GTKVNC_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

You ship an /usr/lib/pkgconfig/gtk-vnc-1.0.pc file with this in it:
Requires: gtk+-2.0 = 2.0.0, gnutls = 1.4.0

But your -dev package doesn't have Depends that reflect those
requirements.

Bug#454974: krb5: multiple vulnerabilities

2007-12-08 Thread Nico Golde
Package: krb5
Version: 1.1.7-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security

Hi,
the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities Exposures) id was
published for krb5.

CVE-2007-5971[0]:
| Double-free vulnerability in the gss_krb5int_make_seal_token_v3
| function in lib/gssapi/krb5/k5sealv3.c in MIT Kerberos 5 (krb5) has
| unknown impact and attack vectors.

CVE-2007-5902[1]:
| Integer overflow in the svcauth_gss_get_principal function in
| lib/rpc/svc_auth_gss.c in MIT Kerberos 5 (krb5) allows remote attackers to
have
| an unknown impact via a large length value for a GSS client name in an RPC
| request.

CVE-2007-5901[2]:
| Use-after-free vulnerability in the gss_indicate_mechs function in
| lib/gssapi/mechglue/g_initialize.c in MIT Kerberos 5 (krb5) has unknown impact
| and attack vectors. NOTE: this might be the result of a typo in the source
| code.

CVE-2007-5894[3]:
| The reply function in ftpd.c in the gssftp ftpd in MIT Kerberos 5 (krb5) does
| not initialize the length variable when auth_type has a certain value, which
| has unknown impact and remote authenticated attack vectors. NOTE: the original
| disclosure misidentifies the conditions under which the uninitialized variable
| is used.

CVE-2007-5972[4]:
| Double-free vulnerability in the krb5_def_store_mkey function in
| lib/kdb/kdb_default.c in MIT Kerberos 5 (krb5) 1.5 has unknown impact and
| remote authenticated attack vectors. NOTE: the free operations occur in code
| that stores the krb5kdc master key, and thus the attacker must have privileges
| to store this key.

CVE-2007-5972 seems to be rather unimportant.

I did not check these vulnerabilities for stable or oldstable.

If you fix these vulnerabilities please also include the CVE id
in your changelog entry.

This package has been identified as affected by the removal of php4 in debian.

As php4 will soon be removed, it is very important that we:
 - update the dependencies of all applicable packages to coexist with php5
 - remove source and/or binary packages which have no use without php4

for more information on what may need to be done, please see

Bug#454158: dpkg-reconfigure works here too

2007-12-08 Thread Michael Schmitt
Hi folks, hi Mirco,

I did encounter the same issue that tomboy could not start anymore after
the upgrade I did today but dpkg-reconfigure libmono-addins0.2-cil
libmono-addins-gui0.2-cil fixed it here, without deleting ~/.tomboy
too.
I like to know how both solutions (deleting ~/.tomboy and
dpkg-reconfigure) can work as NO package upgrades touch anything in ~
afaik.

greets
Michael

Bug#454948: gnunet: FTBFS: Tries to link to static non-PIC dialog.a to create shared lib.

2007-12-08 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Package: gnunet
Version: 0.7.2c-4
Severity: serious

Hi,

Your package is failing to build on some arches because you try to
create a shared library and try to link libdialog.a. This is a static
non-PIC library, and can't be used to create shared libraries.

If you need to link to it, you'll have to ask the dialog maintainer to
either create a shared library or a PIC version of the static library,
and then link to that version.

Also see section 10.2 of the policy.

apt-file reports it is available in libmpfr1ldbl. After installing it,

That happens at least on sid/i386 (I'm reporting from another box).

Hi,

The .pc file had versioned Depends. Your package now has:
Depends: libgnutls-dev, libgtk-vnc-1.0-0 (= 0.2.0-2), libgtk2.0-dev

So it doesn't have the proper version requirements.

Hi,

When building virt-viewer 0.0.2-1 I get the following error:
checking for GTKVNC... configure: error: Package requirements (gtk-vnc-1.0 =
0.0.1) were not met:

Package gnutls was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gnutls.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'gnutls', required by 'GTK-VNC', not found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GTKVNC_CFLAGS
and GTKVNC_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

make: *** [config.status] Error 1

You ship an /usr/lib/pkgconfig/gtk-vnc-1.0.pc file with this in it:
Requires: gtk+-2.0 = 2.0.0, gnutls = 1.4.0

But your -dev package doesn't have Depends that reflect those
requirements.

Hi,
the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities Exposures) id was
published for libcairo.

CVE-2007-5503[0]:
| Multiple integer overflows in Cairo before 1.4.12 might allow remote attackers
| to execute arbitrary code, as demonstrated using a crafted PNG image, which is
| not properly handled by the read_png function.

Until now this CVE seems to be reserved, see
http://nvd.nist.gov/nvd.cfm?cvename=CVE-2007-5503 in the meanwhile.

Patches can be found on:
http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=cairo;a=commitdiff;h=5c7d2d14d78e4dfb1ef6d2c40f0910f177e07360
http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=cairo;a=commitdiff;h=e49bcde27f88e21d5b8037a0089a226096f6514b

I did not check if the stable version is also prone to this.

If you fix this vulnerability please also include the CVE id
in your changelog entry.

For further information:

 Hi,

The .pc file had versioned Depends. Your package now has:
 Depends: libgnutls-dev, libgtk-vnc-1.0-0 (= 0.2.0-2), libgtk2.0-dev

So it doesn't have the proper version requirements.
The versions in sid and lenny all match the requirements, so we don't
need a versioned dependency or am I missing something?

You're still not build-depending on pkg-config, so it's still failing.

Your package fails to build with GCC 4.2. Version 4.2 has not been
released yet but I'm building with a snapshot in order to find errors
and give people an advance warning. You're using an minimum/maximum
or similar operator (that is, ?, ?, ?=, or ?=) which has been removed
as of 4.2. These operators have been removed since GCC 4.0 so please
let your upstream know about this issue.

Package: gcc-h8300-hms
Version: 1:3.4.6-3

Hi,

Your package is failing to build on amd64 and powerpc with a simular
error. On amd64 it shows:
touch stamp-picdir

  cc -c -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -g -O2 -m32 -I.
-I../../../../libiberty/../include -W -Wall -Wtraditional -pedantic

Note that it's trying to build something 32 bit (-m32). On powerpc
it's trying to build something 64 bit instead.

I see no reason why you would need to build 32 bit binaries for a 64
bit arch when building a cross compiler.

That's no excuse for not adding that information.
Is this part of policy somewhere? You can't get the wrong dependencies
so what would this buy?

Bug#279546: O: waimea -- A highly customizable window manager based on blackbox

2007-12-08 Thread Lucas Nussbaum
Hi,

The waimea package has been orphaned for a very long time now (in
fact, it's one of the oldest orphaned packages in Debian). I'm going
through such packages, to see if they can be safely removed from Debian,
since noone seems to care about them.

You are receiving this mail because your name showed up somewhere in the
history of the package, or because I think that you might be interested
for some reason, or because you maintain a related/similar package. Are
you interested in adopting this package? Do you know potential adopters?
If so, could you forward them this mail, Ccing the BTS and me?

With no action from anyone, I'll request the removal of this package
from Debian after a month.

Thank you,

The volume.app package has been orphaned for a very long time now (in
fact, it's one of the oldest orphaned packages in Debian). I'm going
through such packages, to see if they can be safely removed from Debian,
since noone seems to care about them.

Thank you,

2007-12-08 Thread Lucas Nussbaum

since noone seems to care about them.

Debian games team, would you be interested in adopting it? There are
screenshots on http://nettoe.sourceforge.net/screenshots.php . If you
aren't, that's ok, of course! The game is unmaintained since 2001, so
... :)

Bug#454945: insight: FTBFS on 64 bit arches: gdbtk-register.c:348: warning: cast from pointer to integer of different size

2007-12-08 Thread Masayuki Hatta
Hi,

 In [EMAIL PROTECTED]
   Kurt Roeckx [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Your package is failing to build on the 64 bit arches with the following
 error:
cc1: warnings being treated as errors
 .././gdb/gdbtk/generic/gdbtk-register.c: In function 'get_register_name':
.././gdb/gdbtk/generic/gdbtk-register.c:348: warning: cast from pointer to
 integer of different size

Note that there are plenty of warnings like that, but the rest
doesn't seem to be compiled with -Werror.

The offending lines are something like:

int numbers = (int) argp;

So it seems this is one of those 32bit/64bit pointer size difference
issues.

However, I'm not sure how to fix this (I don't have any 64bit arch
machine and know little about it). Do you have any idea? Does
intptr_t numbers = (int) argp work for you?

Best regards,
MH

Abstract: This guide explains how to use the JDE to develop Java applications

Hi,

While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a package that
should maybe be orphaned by its maintainer, because:

 * old standing RC bugs
 * no maintainer activity
 * last upload 2007-05-02

If you think that it should be removed from Debian instead of being
orphaned, please reply to this bug and tell so.

If you agree that it should be orphaned, sending the following commands
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] should do it (after replacing nn with
this bug's number):

severity nn normal
reassign nn wnpp
retitle nn O: packagename -- short package description
thanks

For more information, see
http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/ch-pkgs.en.html#s-archive-manip
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
close this bug, preferably in an upload also fixing the other issues.

Thank you,

filippo

Title: JDEE JDE User's Guide
Author: Paul Kinnucan
Abstract: This guide explains how to use the JDE to develop Java applications
and applets. The Java Development Environment (JDE) is an Emacs Lisp
package that interfaces Emacs to third-party Java application development
tools, such as those provided by JavaSoft's Java Development Kit (JDK). The
result is an integrated development environment (IDE) comparable in power to
 many commercial Java IDEs.

Hi,

The nettoe package has been orphaned for a very long time now (in

Debian games team, would you be interested in adopting it? There are

Thank you,

Well the popcon stats are pretty low and not a lot of bug activity.
Also, it looks pretty lame, but if someone thinks it is worth keeping in
the archive, I'll be happy to stick it in svn and update it.

Thanks,
