Package: fail2ban
Version: 0.7.5-2
Severity: critical

For whatever reason, my fail2ban process is hung in a deadlock:

seamus:/etc/init.d sudo strace -p 11867
Process 11867 attached - interrupt to quit
futex(0x81dbef0, FUTEX_WAIT, 0, NULL

As a result, fail2ban-client reload will indefinitely wait:

seamus:/etc/init.d sudo strace python2.4 /usr/bin/fail2ban-client reload
[...]
socket(PF_FILE, SOCK_STREAM, 0) = 3
connect(3, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path=/tmp/fail2ban.sock}, 20

This again causes the logrotate postrotate script to hang, which
causes logrotate to hang, which causes cron.daily to hang.

seamus:/etc/init.d ps aux | grep -c fail2ban-client
11
seamus:/etc/init.d ps aux | grep -c logrotate
22
seamus:/etc/init.d ps aux | grep -c cron.daily
41

Undoubtedly, cron.daily or logrotate could use timeouts. Until they
do, this is a critical bug in fail2ban because it breaks unrelated
software.

I noticed the 'mount' package isn't mentioned in the /etc/fai/NFSROOT file, so
trying to create the nfs-root environment

When I add the mount package to the NFSROOT file, installation runs fine.

Bug#461185: fai-server: vanilla 3.2.4 fai-setup does not install 'mount' package

2008-01-17 Thread Michael Tautschnig
 Hi,

I noticed the 'mount' package isn't mentioned in the /etc/fai/NFSROOT file,
so trying to create the nfs-root environment
will fail when mounting the chroot environment.

When I add the mount package to the NFSROOT file, installation runs fine.

No, there must be some other problem in your environment. The package mount is
essential, thus it will get installed by debootstrap anyway.

Further, if I get your report right, it is about performing a chroot into
/srv/fai/nfsroot/... - this step, however, is performed from your usual server
environment. That is, mount must be missing on your server! Which is strange
too, as it is essential... - and if that were the case, then adding mount to the
NFSROOT file wouldn't help at all.

So, IMHO there is some bug in your bug report.

Best,
Michael

requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
 that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
kazehakase: Depends: ruby ( 1.9.0) but 4 is to be installed
 E: Broken packages

Also, it FTBFS because of the same problem.

Please Build-Depend/Depend on ruby1.8, not on ruby, which is just a
dummy package so users can do apt-get install ruby and get the default
version.

Bug#461185: fai-server: vanilla 3.2.4 fai-setup does not install 'mount' package

No, there must be some other problem in your environment. The package mount
 is
essential, thus it will get installed by debootstrap anyway.

You are right, it fails *sometimes* (I hate these situations). So I will
have to go debugging further into this.

One other question though, I do get the lines:

dhcpd and the tftp-hpa daemon.

But it doesn't tell where it fails during the installation, everything
went fine when I look trough the logfiles again

Any way to find out where it fails?

thanks

Roel.

ps. you can close this bug as it indeed seems to be something on my end.

I'm using 8600GT graphics card with the nvidia NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-169.07

1 and 2 and then Kdeinit4 FATAL error: client killed.

With the nv driver kwin starts ok with no crash.

so not a kwin issue, but a driver issue. reassigning.

I had installed kde4 with the aptitude -t experimental install kdebase
 kdebase-workspace command.

Nvidia driver works ok with xfce4, gnome and kde3.

xfce4, gnome and kde3 doesn't use fancy compositing by default. kwin in kde4
does.

Bug#461185: fai-server: vanilla 3.2.4 fai-setup does not install 'mount' package

No, there must be some other problem in your environment. The package
  mount is
essential, thus it will get installed by debootstrap anyway.

You are right, it fails *sometimes* (I hate these situations). So I will
have to go debugging further into this.

One other question though, I do get the lines:

 dhcpd and the tftp-hpa daemon.

Any way to find out where it fails?

Ah, that one was pretty simple: live-initramfs is not in Debian stable (after
all, you are taking a package from unstable/testing). You need to get that one
into your local mirror or use
deb http://www.informatik.uni-koeln.de/fai/download etch koeln

ps. you can close this bug as it indeed seems to be something on my end.

I think it would be most appropriate if you close it (probably once you have
found the problem on your side).

HTH,
Michael

Ah, that one was pretty simple: live-initramfs is not in Debian stable (after
all, you are taking a package from unstable/testing). You need to get that one
into your local mirror or use
 deb http://www.informatik.uni-koeln.de/fai/download etch koeln

There you go indeed, that'll teach me to backport from unstable :-)

Hi,

Got myself a new laptop and went about compiling libldap2 from scratch[1] and

The config.log reported that it could not find 'cc1plus' (provided by 'g++').
Once
installed it compiles with no problems.

Cheers

Not a bug, mono is a meta-package and was dropped but is still in the
archive (will be removed soon though), use mono-runtime instead.

Bug#461226: djvulibre-bin: djvudigital depends on software not in Debian

2008-01-17 Thread John Goerzen
Package: djvulibre-bin
Version: 3.5.20-2
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.2.2

djvudigital should be in contrib because it depends on software not in
Debian.

Actually, a better solution would be to get the djvu gs driver into
Debian!

Is - especially since I'm not able to reproduce it with the very exact
versions of your installed packages, on the same architecture. What did
you do? Did it segfault right from starting it or somewhere while using?

The backtrace might become more useful if you install libc6-dbg and
libncursesw5-dbg packages, do you get something more informative, then?

One thing more to try after that is that you might want to give an
unstripped rebuild a try:

#v+
$ export DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS='nostrip'
$ sudo apt-get build-dep tetradraw
$ sudo apt-get -b source tetradraw
$ sudo dpkg -i tetradraw_2.0.3-4_i386.deb
#v-

Something like this should do the trick. Hopefully.

Bug#461245: Please re-build against ghc6.8

2008-01-17 Thread Joachim Breitner
Package: gtk2hs
Version: 0.9.12-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

ghc6.8 is now in unstable, and gtk2hs needs to be re-built. This will
most likely also require an upgrade to 0.9.12.1.

Liyang HU, will you be able to do this?

Thanks,
Joachim

Oops, no. That's a bug indeed. I'll fix it in the next upload.

 Do you know why pool

 contains only i386 and amd64 ?
But the package should be already build and installed on all archs:

Hm, no idea. It does build fine everywhere though, see

Bug#449173: .. another one, for the Debian mailbox ... argh, those ugly SMTP's Reply-To:

2008-01-17 Thread Loïc JOUANIQUE

Le vendredi 11 janvier 2008 à 23:14 +0100, Torsten Werner a écrit :
 Hi Loïc,

can you explain in more detail what is the problem with the
 ghostscript package, please?

 Thank you,
 Torsten

What is the problem with those packages in Unstable (as of Right Now),
named ghostscript-* ?

That is simple : I have a nice printer, Okipage 14ex, capable of
printing using PCL drivers ...
- when I try to configure it with anything apart from the Gutenprint
drivers, *NOTHING* is printed (some complain about foomatic's behaviour,
while others *SILENTLY* do not even make it to Cups)
- when I use the Gutenprint drivers, only *HALF* a page is printed

Unlike the old behaviour (currently reproduceable in Stable right now) :
- every single driver prints something useable (no half pages)
- the HPIJS driver work noticeably faster, and with (subjective) better
quality
- the GutenPrint drivers are far more configurable ...

If you need additional debug info from the gs-esp (v. 8.15.3.dfsg.1-1),
or the shiny new ghostscript-* packages, please explain me how to turn
debugging on (last time I tried, about nothing usefull was produced)

(when I tried drivers, I consulted a website named LinuxPrinting.org or
something like that, and installed every Debian packages matching the
name, no custom PPD file downloaded ..)

Please ask for additional info if you need them ...

PS : sorry for the delay ... been really busy those last days trying to
kickstart my business dogding the depression factors of having Nicolas
Sarkozy as a President (not of my business, but of my country) !!!

On Thu, Jan 17, 2008 at 04:17:12PM +, Alexander Wirt wrote:

It's only grave if the bug is against syslogd. Syslogd doesn't provide
a method for postfix to change the config file, and therefore it would
be a policy violation for postfix to edit syslog's config file so that
it sees things when it restarts.

Once there's a way for postfix to hook up to syslogd in a
policy-conformant manner, we can fix this bug.

undefined symbol: __objc_class_name_PajeComponent

I'm blocking testing migration with this bug until this is resolved

As discussed on IRC, this should be fixed by xserver commit

I just applied the patch to xorg-server, I am reassigning and tagging
the bug accordingly.

Bug#461329: sensors-applet 2.2.1-1 depends on unavailable libglib2.0-0 package

2008-01-17 Thread Cyril Jaquier

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi maintainer,

I'm unable to upgrade to sensors-applet 2.2.1-1 since it depends on
libglib2.0-0 (= 2.15.0) which is not available in unstable or
experimental.

Thanks,

Bug#457412: marked as done (Applications (like kmymoney2) segfault without installed libchipcard2-data)

2008-01-17 Thread Debian Bug Tracking System
Your message dated Thu, 17 Jan 2008 19:52:22 +

Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith.

---BeginMessage---
Package: kmymoney2
Version: 0.8.7-2
Severity: normal

Hi,

during configuration of the online-banking feature of kmymoney2, when
choosing to import user data from chipcard and clicking on OK,
kmymoney2 crashes and produces a backtrace.
Only when started from the command-line it produces an understandable
error-message which says that libchipcard is missing it's configuration
file. Thus, after installing e.g. libchipcard2-data, it works.

I consider this a bug, because kmymoney2 and libchipcard2 both seemingly
don't depend on the abovementioned -data package, and there also is no
proper error/indication message explaining the user to install that
package.

Please consider those normal (e.g. migrated Windows-) users who aren't
used to changing to the command-line or compiling packages themselves.
The current behaviour (silent program-crash) is a big turn-off in
those cases..

It wouldn't migrate anyway: #451456 is still open and the current
version fails to build on nearly all architectures (perhaps you have
to build-depend on texlive-latex-recommended?).

After I install a printer connected to the server via USB, I want to

The error is

Great! This is really helpful. I'll also lower the severity of #452352
to 'important' as this bug doesn't affect the version in unstable
(2.2.3-1).

Can you also send me your cfagent.conf-file so I can try to reproduce?

The segfault occurs with the attached cfagent.conf file.

I have narrowed it a lot. I should have done this earlier!

Great, thanks! I'll try to verify the bug in a qemu-machine. Not sure
if we should try to make a patch for stable though. :/

The config.log reported that it could not find 'cc1plus' (provided by 'g++').
  Once
installed it compiles with no problems.

Please consider using the debuild command from the devscripts package.
It uses dpkg-buildpackage internally, but first checks if the build
dependencies are satisfied.

The libldap2 sources do not build-depend on g++, because the
build-essential package depends on it which should be installed any time
when building a Debian package.

See section 4.2 of the debian policy here:

I stumbled across this as well today when updating from 4.2.0-1. I'm
using courier to serve out a virtual domain so I'm not sure what UID/GID

Bug#460551: Security fix for xine-lib 1.1.2 (needs testing)

2008-01-17 Thread Darren Salt
http://alioth.debian.org/~dsalt-guest/ has a fixed 1.1.2 build. It needs some
testing (just to check that I've backported it correctly, really) and the
changelog needs to be corrected, in line with the entry for 1.1.8-3+lenny1.

(This message is mainly to record in the BTS the presence of that build and
that the problem is still there in stable.)

Hi,

ghc6.8 is now in unstable, and gtk2hs needs to be re-built. This will
most likely also require an upgrade to 0.9.12.1.

Liyang HU, will you be able to do this?

Bug#461305: paje.app: Buggy upstream version

Attached is a patch that fixes this.

Thanks for your patch. I will try it now.

In addition, I had to modify debian/rules to get it to start:

Yes, I already corrected this (and a few other things) in a -2 version
but I was blocked by the linking problem (and I should never have uploaded
the -1 version in its state :-( )

It wouldn't migrate anyway: #451456 is still open and the current
version fails to build on nearly all architectures (perhaps you have
 to build-depend on texlive-latex-recommended?).

I forgot to close it in -1 but #451456 in already fixed.

And I added texlive-font-recommended to fix this FTBFS and it works in
my sbuilder ! I just checked the log, texlive-latex-recommended were not
instaleed. But it seems that the fonts were in the user cache in my
sbuilder :-(

  Thanks again for for patch
  Best regards,
Vincent
