Hi,
since apt-get ... --print-uris .. now returns the SHA256 checksum,
apt-zip does not works anymore. I've asked on d-devel irc on OFTC
regarding an apt-get option to let it return MD5 as before, but they
argue that sha256 is the way to go, so here is a very simple patch to
let apt-zip recognize the new checksum.

Thanks,
Sandro

  Hi,
the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities Exposures) id was
  published for xdg-utils.

The code in question is not present in the Debian package, because I have
patched it to use run-mailcap or sensible-browser instead.
[...]
Thanks, that looks secure to me. I missed the patch when
looking at the package because its name does not imply any
security relevant changes. So thanks, I marked this as
not-affected in our security tracker and thus closing this
bug.

Kind regards

Bug#463535: logout hangs with libgtk2.0-0 2.12.5-2

2008-02-01 Thread Eddy Petrișor

Package: libgtk2.0-0
Version: 2.12.5-2
Severity: serious
Justification: breaks unrelated software/unable to logout

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Hello,

I upgraded a few days ago the following packages:

gtk2-engines-pixbuf 2.12.5-2
libgtk2.0-0 2.12.5-2
libgtk2.0-bin 2.12.5-2
libgtk2.0-common 2.12.5-2
libgtk2.0-dev 2.12.5-2

All from version 2.12.1-1

As a result of that all log out operations hang and the only
way to get out of the hang is to press the power button, triggering
the shutdown.

Switching to text consoles is not possible since there's no response
to keyboard input. I don't know if logging via ssh would be possible
since I don't have another station to test.

Bug#463544: AFPD is not started upon netatalk start-up

2008-02-01 Thread Campbell-Lange Workshop
Package: netatalk
Version: 2.0.3-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

 Hello,
I'm running Debian Lenny 2.6.21-2-amd64, yesterday

 I apt-updated Netatalk to 2.0.3-7 from 2.0.3-4 and encountered

a problem with the start-up process of the service.

No AFPD process is created when starting netatalk.

I could se ATALKD and PAPD running but no AFPD.

Reverting to the old version of netatalk fixed the problem.

Could you please advise if you are aware of another solution?

 Thank you much.

Hi,

trying to recompile the package here I get this error:

uic is an alternative, which happens to point to /usr/bin/uic-qt3

Bug#462588: Fails to start slapd ldaps:/// on upgrade

2008-02-01 Thread Niccolo Rigacci
I confirm that ldpas broke after upgrade.

This is the workaround in my case:

1) Commented out TLSCipherSuite from /etc/ldap/slapd.conf so it
   picks-up the defaults.

2) Changed TLS_REQCERT from allow to never into
   /etc/ldap/ldap.conf.

The clients connect to a name which is different from the
commonName stated into the self signed certificate.

However this is strange beacuse LDAP.CONF(5) states that
TLS_REQCERT allow means:

The server certificate is requested. If no certificate is
provided, the session proceeds normally. If a bad certificate
is provided, it will be ignored and the session proceeds normally.

But the session does not proceeds normally, even if I add
a subjectAltName into the certificate.

Oddly enough it built fine for me on my own hppa when I built it

I strongly guess this is due to a problem with subversion on this hppa

this really puzzles me... completely dead?
does synclient report any activity?

Your assumption was true... if xorg complains about the synaptics module
it works (another driver taking its part?) and if the synaptics module
recognizes the touchpad it does not work. Right now I realised those
touchpad specific options (scrolling at the edges etc.) do not work anymore
either (with lennys package) what makes sense to me. But I am almost 100%
 sure it worked completely.

what happens if you just try to run with the default options?

No, because it wasn't meant to be. It was merely a fortunate side effect :-)

So thanks, I marked this as

I also noticed from the Bugzilla report that the same problem exists in

Version: 2.86.ds1-52
Severity: grave

I start xdm first:

lapse:~ ls /etc/rc2.d/S* | head -1
/etc/rc2.d/S01xdm

This causes the num_steps loop on line 257 of /etc/init.d/rc to
break during the first iteration, which in turn causes a division by
zero in the startup_process() function:

/etc/init.d/rc exited outside the expected control flow
  /etc/init.d/rc: 2: arithmetic expression: division by zero: 1 * 31 / 0 + 61

I think you may mean s/break/continue in the num_steps loop to not
count those few services, but to continue counting...

With insserv disabled in debconf, after entering initlevel 2 and

Bug#440514: getting lirc into a usable state again

2008-02-01 Thread Stefan Lippers-Hollmann
Hi

The attached quilt series (http://sidux.com/slh/lirc/) against current lirc
svn (r247) fixes the most serious issues of the current lirc packages and
includes previously reported patches.

* fix make-kpkg compatibility (Closes: #372815).
* remove devfs support.
* add LSB header to lirc initscript as suggested by Petter Reinholdtsen
  [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Closes: #460212).
* add LSB Description and Short-Description to initscript LSB stanza,
borrowed from Ubuntu's lirc packages by Mario Limonciello
  [EMAIL PROTECTED].
* apply patch from Václav Ovsík [EMAIL PROTECTED] to fix Makefile
mangling for lirc-source, evaluating utsrelease.h instead of the no longer
existing version.h and recommend linux-image-$KVERS instead of the
  obsolete kernel-image-$KVERS (Closes: #447172).
* add compatibility patch for kernels = 2.6.24, based on upstream CVS.
* fix lirc.conf template for pinsys remotes, shortly before lirc 0.8.2 the
  keymapping got broken.
* remove versioned download location from debian/copyright, it's always
outdated and the base path will point to the download location just as
  well.
* remove custom mknod usage and depend on udev | makedev (= 2.3.1-85)
  instead (Closes: #393575).
* apply useful indention from Ubuntu to debian/rules.
* Recommend module-assistant | kernel-package for lirc-modules-source.

This ignores any feature additions from
svn://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-lirc/lirc/branches/ubuntu-0.8.2/
and still leaves a lot of open issues that need to be fixed, like the
inability of using module-assistant as user due to not being able to
write as user at
dh_builddeb --destdir=$(KSRC)/..
or the whole debconf usage.

Regards
Stefan Lippers-Hollmann
Using kernel-package's make-kpkg modules to build kernel modules along
the kernel, the kdist package needs to be accessible.

Package: grub2
Version: 1.95+20080128-1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

After upgrading this morning, my laptop (Dell Latitude D820) rebooted
immediately after Welcome to GRUB! appeared. The BIOS went through a
'slow' boot, indicative that the last reboot was unexpected.

I've filed this bug early to prevent other people being caught out with an
unbootable system.

The attached code, coming from the GNU libc (test-ifloat.c and
s_cacoshf.c) gives wrong results when compiled with gcc-4.3 and -O3. The
results are correct with gcc-4.3 and lower optimisation or with gcc-4.2.

This bug has been upgraded to priority P1 upstream, I am upgrading it to
grave in Debian to reflect this change.

I do not agree. It is debian policy to build packages with -O2; if a
package maintainer decides to use a higher optimization level, then it
is his responsibility to make sure that it builds ok.

anyway, there is patch upstream, so the next upload will have a fix.

Sorry, the description of this ITS is inverted. It's *valid* ciphersuite
values (i.e., cipher1:cipher2) that cause the hang; invalid
space-separated values are merely truncated after the first cipher in the
list, which doesn't cause a hang, it just prevents the cipher list from
  being useful.

Steve, would you mind testing the patch I posted there? It fixed the
problem for me when I wrote it a month or two ago, hopefully it will
fix the problem for you too.

Thanks, I can confirm this fixes the problem here. I'm able to set multiple
ciphers in a TLSCipherSuite list, and able to connect appropriately with
ldapsearch and gnutls-cli after the change.

Your package (xemacs21) has been detected as depending on gnome-libs,
which as per release goal, won't be shipped in lenny.

Please make sure that your package drops its dependencies on
gnome-libs as soon as possible, or that it's ported to gnome2 one way
   or the other.

This bug will be raised to RC severity as soon as gnome-libs are
removed from testing, which should happen soon, since it will make
   your package uninstallable.

I'll drop the dependency on gnome-libs when it will be
removed. xemacs21-gnome* binary can build only with gtk. When
the time comes, I'll rename the package name.

Well this should happen RSN now. There are a couple of applications
I'll wait for before I ask for the gnome-libs removal, xemacs21 is
obviously one of them. I guess you saw that if we wait on each other we
will end up nastily deadlocked :)

   Though I'll consider xemacs21 a non issue then :)

Note that _NOW_ is the time to drop the dependency, please do it ASAP,
gnome-libs should go away in the next couple of days. If not, xemacs21
will be removed from testing with its rdeps.

Hi,

During system cleanup I noticed, that pretty big (2.5 Mb) and old library -
libgtk-perl is used only by one package - dfontmgr. Same applies also to
libglade-perl library. Both libraries use gtk1, so dfontmgr looks not nice
and can't display not current locale and unicode symbols :(
In whole debian distribution libglade-perl is used only by dfontmgt and
bins package, which is outdated in debian, al others are updated to use
newer libgtk2-gladexml-perl library.

Please update dfontmgr to use gtk2-based libraries - libgtk2-perl and
libgtk2-gladexml-perl

Bug#463583: Proposed fixes to this bug

2008-02-01 Thread Konstantin Khomoutov
I propose some fixes to this and the related bug #461600.
Since I'm not familiar with dpatch, I'll try to summarize what to
change to squash these bugs.

1) configure.in --
Change the line reading
TEA_ADD_LIBS([])
to
TEA_ADD_LIBS([-lstdc++])

This actually fixes #463583

2) Makefile.in --
Change the line reading
COMPILE = $(CC) $(DEFS) $(INCLUDES) ...
to
COMPILE = $(CXX) $(DEFS) $(INCLUDES) ...

3) debian.rules --
Add the --enable-gxx option to the call to ./configure
under the config.status target.

Under the build-stamp target change the line reading
$(MAKE) CC=g++ CFLAGS=$(CFLAGS)
to just
$(MAKE)

These two changes fix #461600 (in fact just removing the override
fo CFLAGS in the call to $(MAKE) fixes it, but the above changes will
make the sources to be built using g++ instead of gcc -- not a big deal,
but anyway).

Hope it helps.

Hi,

Your package (gnome-chess) has been detected as depending on
gnome-libs, which as per release goal, won't be shipped in lenny.

Cheers,

Discussed in http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2007/05/msg01173.html

With glibc-2.5 and gcc-4.1.2 (and gcc-4.2), the 'long double'
data type did change from a 64bit representation to a 128bit
representation on alpha, powerpc, sparc, s390. To allow
partial upgrades of packages, we will need to rename all
packages holding libraries with the long double data type in
their API. Both libc and libstdc++ do not need to be renamed,
because they support both representations. We rename the library
packages on all architectures to avoid name mismatches between
architectures (you can avoid the renaming by supporting both
datatype representations in the library as done in glibc and
libstdc++, but unless a library is prepared for that, it does not
seem to be worth the effort).

It is suggested to rename a package libfoo1 to libfoo1ldbl;
please wait with the renaming if the package depends on
another library package which needs renaming.

This package has been indentified as one with header files in
/usr/include matching 'long *double'. Please close this bug report
if it is a false positive, or rename the package accordingly.

Hi

(a bug to not forget this issue, together with the reject of the newer
version from NEW).

this package contains non-free files, the DTDs, at least those from the
OFX standard, have a non-free license and can't be in main.

---+++
A royalty-free, worldwide, and perpetual license is hereby granted to
any party to use the Open Financial Exchange Specification to make,
use, and sell products and services that conform to this Specification.
+++---

Doesnt fit DFSG 1 and 3 *at least*, you aren't allowed to modify and to
redistribute. There is more, but this is enough already.

  Hi,

  Upstream's CHANGELOG[1] says:

  0.8.8
  - Make it work for current Xorg-GIT

However, no version 0.8.8 has been released yet. Maybe we can ask upstream
  for a
  patch in the mean time?

 sure!!! will do.

sigh... no answer from upstream yet. And no 0.8.8 has been released yet.

Bug#463658: About box still says Firefox is a trademark of Mozilla Foundation in localized packages

thanks

In the Simplified Chinese localized package of Iceweasel, the about
box still has a message like Firefox is a trademark of Mozilla
Foundation, which should be removed due to trademark issues.

no, it is legally totally ok to state the fact, that something is a
trademark of someone.

however, as it unnecessary because debian does no longer make use of the
mozilla trademark, it is a purely cosmetic glitch that i'll fix soon.
