Bug#462588: [Pkg-openldap-devel] Bug#462588: Fails to start slapd ldaps:/// on upgrade

2008-02-04 Thread Niccolo Rigacci
However this is strange beacuse LDAP.CONF(5) states that
  TLS_REQCERT allow means:

The server certificate is requested. If no certificate is
provided, the session proceeds normally. If a bad certificate
is provided, it will be ignored and the session proceeds normally.

What client are you using? If you use ldapsearch -ZZ, for instance, this
overrides the TLS_REQCERT value in /etc/ldap/ldap.conf.

On the client (which is not the slapd server) I use the following
command line:

ldapsearch -x -H ldaps://cheope.mydomain.org/ \
-x -D cn=admin,dc=mydomain,dc=org -W \
-b dc=mydomain,dc=org

Doing it with the alias server name and TLS_REQCERT allow
results into the error:

ldap_sasl_bind(SIMPLE): Can't contact LDAP server (-1)

On the server the log reports:

slapd[29352]: conn=25 fd=16 ACCEPT from IP=192.168.200.244:37323
(IP=0.0.0.0:636)
slapd[29352]: conn=25 fd=16 TLS established tls_ssf=32 ssf=32
slapd[29352]: conn=25 fd=16 closed (connection lost)

I need TLS_REQCERT never on the client to succeed.

ldapsearch is version 2.4.7-3, slapd is version 2.4.7-3, no
TLSVerifyClient option is set in slapd.conf.

Bug#463936: Source package contains non-free IETF RFC/I-D

2008-02-04 Thread Simon Josefsson
Severity: serious
Package: kdepimlibs
Version: 4:4.0.0-4
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: nonfree-doc rfc

Hi!

This source package contains the following files from the
IETF under non-free license terms:

  kdepimlibs-4.0.0/kioslave/sieve/draft-murchison-sieve-subaddress-05.txt
  kdepimlibs-4.0.0/kioslave/sieve/draft-murchison-sieve-regex-06.txt
  kdepimlibs-4.0.0/kioslave/sieve/draft-martin-managesieve-04.txt
  kdepimlibs-4.0.0/kioslave/sieve/draft-showalter-sieve-vacation-04.txt
  kdepimlibs-4.0.0/kioslave/sieve/draft-martin-sieve-notify-01.txt
  kdepimlibs-4.0.0/kioslave/sieve/draft-degener-sieve-body-00.txt

and in the same directory also:

  draft-daboo-sieve-include.txt
  draft-daboo-sieve-spamtest.txt
  draft-degener-sieve-copy.txt
  draft-degener-sieve-editheader.txt
  draft-degener-sieve-multiscript.txt
  draft-homme-sieve-variables.txt
  draft-melnikov-sieve-imapflags.txt

The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:
 * http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=199810
 * http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation
 * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

The etch release policy says binary and source packages must each be free:
 * http://release.debian.org/etch_rc_policy.txt

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:
 * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

There are (at least) three ways to fix this problem. In order of
preference:

1. Ask the author of the RFC to re-license the RFC under a free
license. A template for this e-mail request can be found at
   http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

2. Remove the non-free material from the source, e.g., by re-packaging
the upstream archive and adding 'dfsg' to the Debian package
   version name.

3. Move the package to non-free.

General discussions are kindly requested to take place on debian-legal
or debian-devel in the thread with Subject: Non-free IETF RFC/I-Ds in
source packages.

Thanks,
Simon

Bug#463790: python-openal: undefined symbol: alutExit

Elias Pschernig [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

Ah, ok, I don't really know much about Debian. Anyway, my python-openal
package does not depend on libalut0 [1], if I interpret this right (not
sure there is a better way to check dependencies..).

Also, after installing libalut0 [2], the problem does not go away.

Not sure it matters, but I tried using ldd on the python module, and it
also does not indicate a dependency on libalut [3].

Looking at package information [1] automatically fetch from the package
content (independent from my own system), the dependency on libalut0 is
there. I wondered if you were using an unofficial package by mistake,
but looking around i found the package automatically built for amd64 is
lacking the dependency on libalut0. So a build problem must have occured
on this architecture, and i'm trying to find the reason.

Bug#431781: vflib3: freetype1 deprecation

2008-02-04 Thread OHURA Makoto
  Hi. FYI.

The patch to use FreeType2 has been already available at
upstream Web page. But this is not included in upstream source
yet.

  See http://www-masu.ist.osaka-u.ac.jp/~kakugawa/VFlib/

I haven't read or tested this patch yet.

  Thanks.

Thanks I confirmed this, a CVE id is pending.

Bug#463961: [Evolution] Bug#463961: evolution-exchange: when configuring evolution to connect to an Exchange server, the Forward button in the Evolution Setup Assistant is always greyed

2008-02-04 Thread Pierre Bauduin
HI and thanks for your contribution,

Well yes, in the previous version of evolution-exchange in lenny, there was
indeed an Authenticate button.
But there is no such button in the current version of evolution-exchange in
lenny.

Anyway, with the previous lenny version, there was only one field: Username.

And when I clicked Authenticate, I had a segmentation fault everytime.

Actually with both of these problems, you do not need an Exchange server to
test them :)

  Hi there,

The exchange connector for evolution in Debian lenny (testing) has
 major
  issues.

When I start evolution for the first time, some Evolution Setup
 Assistant
allows me to create an account.
In the first screen, I click Forward
In the second screen, I type in my full name and my e-mail address, and
 I
  click Forward
In the third screen, in Server Type, I choose Microsoft Exchange. A
dialog box with Username appears. In Username, I can type anything I
want: the Forward button is always greyed ! I can click the two other
buttons (Cancel and Back), but I can never click the Forward button !
 It's
  always greyed !
Using the same evolution-exchange version on unstable, on that screen, I
 have
 two fields:

 Username:
 OWA URL:

Whatever I type in the Username: field, it's not enough for the plugin to
 be
configured. I have to type something in the OWA URL, and I guess I have to
 check with Authenticate before continuing.

I don't have an exchange server available here so I can't help you more,
 but I
guess you should try to enter that url.

 Cheers,

evolution-exchange has the same version in lenny and sid, and I have the two

Maybe this is again a problem with evolution-data-server. Could you try to
pick them from unstable and test?

Well, clicking authenticate works but as I don't have a valid URL, it can't
work (but doesn't segfault)

Hi,

trying to recompile the package here I get this error:

/usr/share/qt3/bin/uic wpagui.ui -o .ui/wpagui.h
uic: File generated with too recent version of Qt Designer (4.0 vs. 3.3.7)

uic is an alternative, which happens to point to /usr/bin/uic-qt3
here on my system.

The build should therefore use uic-qt4.

Greetings,
Joachim

It was a nominal installation until it came time to write a boot loader. It
presented me with a top-level installer menu, with Install GRUB boot loader
hilighted.

Since GRUB is for x86, not PowerPC, this was odd. I hit enter and it
immediately returned to the same menu with GRUB still hilighted, apparently
having done
nothing useful.

I then skipped the GRUB menu item and told it to install YABOOT (the next
item on the menu), and all proceeded as expected from there.

Bug#457291: flash could be supported on stable.

2008-02-04 Thread Carlo Wood
I'm sorry, but it doesn't seem to make much sense
to let the debian users of stable and testing suffer
like this. It's not like Adobe is going to be like
Oh My God! and change their ways. They clearly don't
give a damn.

I can't help but sense a political reason not to
support flash, just because it's non-free, the
maintainers of debian WANT it to be broken, almost,
and certainly don't look hard for a way to give
their users an easy way to use flash. Just as long
as the result is that the users blame Adobe, and
not debian, it's ok - regardless of how much the
users suffer because of it.

Flashplayer could be support, technically, in the
following way:

The flashplugin-nonfree package would keep track
of the last time it downloaded the flashplayer
from Adobe. If an update (ie for security reasons)
is needed, then a new flashplugin-nonfree with
a newer version is released. This would cause
the package to be updated the usual way. The
new package would contain the date at which
Adobe made the lastest version available. If that
date is later than the last time the flashplayer
was downloaded - it is downloaded again, and
installed. If necessary, ie as sanity check, it
is easy to obtain the real version from libflashplayer.so:

strings libflashplayer.so | grep '[0-9]\.[0-9] r[0-9]'
Shockwave Flash 9.0 r48

To make a long story short: TECHNICALLY there is
no reason to rip flashplugin-nonfree out of stable
and testing-- it is therefore not very nice towards
the users of debian and my anger towards Adobe is
now devided over Adobe AS WELL as debian.

That's why we are shipping it in etch-backports as it is not feasable

the below is not working on purpose as there could be major issues with

Bug#464019: libmrss0 breaks newsbeuter

2008-02-04 Thread gregor herrmann
Package: libmrss0
Version: 0.19.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I was a little surprised today when I saw that newsbeuter didn't show
me any new blog post, although they existed on the feeds' pages.
A quick look into /var/log/aptitude should me that I had updated
libmrss0 yesterday which made me suspicous.

And after downgrading libmrss0 to 0.18.0-2 newsbeuter indeed works
again.

Whatever has changed in 0.19.0-1 -- breaking other packages' core
functionality is not very nice :)

Cheers,
gregor

You should add lighc6-anydbm-dev to the Depends: line. Also, I think
you should do something to preven apt trying to use a newer version of
the Haskell dependencies (which ghc-pkg won't allow, and wouldn't work
anyway)...

Also... what's with libghc6-missingh-dev 0.18.4 containing a package
that claims to be version 18.3? I nearly reported a false bug for
that.

And then fail to remove with:

Pretty please make some kind of policy to avoid such errors in the
future. I had to file too many bugs for such problems.

Bug#463039: [Pkg-octave-devel] Bug#463039: Bug#463039: why does octave3.0 provide: octave2.9?

2008-02-04 Thread Rafael Laboissiere
* Steve Langasek [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2008-02-03 16:32]:

To the best of my knowledge, none of these configurations achieve that goal.
While there's lore among Debian developers to the effect that
Conflicts/Replaces will trigger the package manager to pull in the new
package automatically as a replacement for the obsolete package, I have
never seen this happen in practice with any of the frontends.

Thanks for the explanation.

The only two configurations that I know to achieve this purpose are:

 - create a dummy package under the old package name, which depends on the
   new package name
 - keep the old package name for the new version of the software

The second option is not acceptable for us.

Thanks for the suggestion, Steve. The remaining of my reply below is
addressed to the DOG:

What should you do know? It is clear from the discussion in this bug report
that the current Conflicts/Replaces/Provides setting is not appropriate.
However, if we generate dummy octave2.9* packages then we will have to
reintroduced the infamous epoch in the version number, which we were trying
to avoid.

I do not think we have a choice here. If nobody objects, I will do the
necessary changes in SVN.

This appears to stem from a conjunction of sloppiness on upstream's
part (shipping platform-specific generated files) and increased
strictness on Debian's. AFAICT, you can work around it without having

I didn't even try this. My workaround was to repack upstream's
tarball without the generated files. Already uploaded, as
1.3.2+debian-1

Thanks for the report.

2008-02-04 Thread Debian Bug Tracking System

---BeginMessage---
Package: libuser
Version: 1:0.54.6-2.1.dfsg.1-1.1
Severity: serious

Hi!

This bug has been filed on multiple packages, and general discussions
are kindly requested to take place on debian-legal or debian-devel in
the thread with Subject: Non-free IETF RFC/I-Ds in source packages.

It seems this source package contains the following files from the
IETF under non-free license terms:

libuser-0.54.6/docs/rfc2307.txt

The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:
 * http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=199810
 * http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation
 * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

The etch release policy says binary and source packages must each be free:
 * http://release.debian.org/etch_rc_policy.txt

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:
 * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

There are (at least) three ways to fix this problem. In order of
preference:

1. Ask the author of the RFC to re-license the RFC under a free
license. A template for this e-mail request can be found at
   http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

2. Remove the non-free material from the source, e.g., by re-packaging
the upstream archive and adding a 'dfsg' version name to it.

3. Move the package to non-free.

I went over many packages looking for names of likely non-free files,
and there may be false positives. If this is the case for your
package, I'm sorry for the noise. I'll modify the scripts to take
into account false positives when I learn of them, and publish the
list of exceptions under Known exceptions at
http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments.

Thanks,
Simon

Bug#464001: FTBFS: hardcodes architecture-specific path to rep's rules.mk

2008-02-04 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Package: sawfish
Version: 1:1.3.2-1
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

From
http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=sawfish;ver=1%3A1.3.2-1;arch=amd64;stamp=1202040828

This appears to stem from a conjunction of sloppiness on upstream's
part (shipping platform-specific generated files) and increased
strictness on Debian's. AFAICT, you can work around it without having
to prepatch anything by specifying repexecdir via a command-line wildcard:

[ ! -f Makefile ] || /usr/bin/make distclean repexecdir=/usr/lib/rep/*-*

Hi,

Your package (junior-gnome) has been detected as depending on
gnome-libs, which as per release goal, won't be shipped in lenny.

Please make sure that your package drops its dependencies on
gnome-libs as soon as possible, or that it's ported to gnome2 one way
or the other.

This bug will be raised to RC severity as soon as gnome-libs are
removed from testing, which should happen soon, since it will make
your package uninstallable.

Cheers,

-- Pierre Habouzit

Gbatnav, which depended on gnome-libs, was removed from junior-gnome
in version 1.5, though I understand gbatnav has subsequently been fixed
so is now suitable to re-add.

Bug#463961: evolution-exchange: when configuring evolution to connect to an Exchange server, the Forward button in the Evolution Setup Assistant is always greyed

2008-02-04 Thread Pierre Bauduin
Package: evolution-exchange
Version: 2.12.2.dfsg-1+b1
Severity: grave
Architecture: i386

Hi there,

The exchange connector for evolution in Debian lenny (testing) has major
issues.

When I start evolution for the first time, some Evolution Setup Assistant
allows me to create an account.
In the first screen, I click Forward
In the second screen, I type in my full name and my e-mail address, and I
click Forward
In the third screen, in Server Type, I choose Microsoft Exchange. A
dialog box with Username appears. In Username, I can type anything I
want: the Forward button is always greyed ! I can click the two other
buttons (Cancel and Back), but I can never click the Forward button ! It's
always greyed !

Discussed in http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2007/05/msg01173.html

With glibc-2.5 and gcc-4.1.2 (and gcc-4.2), the 'long double'
data type did change from a 64bit representation to a 128bit
representation on alpha, powerpc, sparc, s390. To allow
partial upgrades of packages, we will need to rename all
packages holding libraries with the long double data type in
their API. Both libc and libstdc++ do not need to be renamed,
because they support both representations. We rename the library
packages on all architectures to avoid name mismatches between
architectures (you can avoid the renaming by supporting both
datatype representations in the library as done in glibc and
libstdc++, but unless a library is prepared for that, it does not
seem to be worth the effort).

It is suggested to rename a package libfoo1 to libfoo1ldbl;
please wait with the renaming if the package depends on
another library package which needs renaming.

This package has been indentified as one with header files in
/usr/include matching 'long *double'. Please close this bug report
if it is a false positive, or rename the package accordingly.

Hi,

trying to recompile the package here I get this error:

/usr/share/qt3/bin/uic wpagui.ui -o .ui/wpagui.h
uic: File generated with too recent version of Qt Designer (4.0 vs.
3.3.7)

uic is an alternative, which happens to point to /usr/bin/uic-qt3
here on my system.

The build should therefore use uic-qt4.

This should be fixed in experimental already.

Did you confirm if it is fixed in experimental yet?

 Oh, sorry, no:

It seems that when I ran apt-get source, it fetched the version from
experimental already, so no, the problem was present in that version.

Aha, which is why I totally misunderstood the bug. Also what was missing was
the really informative parts of the error message that were snipped from the
original bug report (the part where qmake-qt3 was used to generate the
Makefile).

I assume that a package should build independently of
 the /etc/alternatives settings, right?

Yes, we must hardcode the path to the version of qmake required, which
is currently /usr/bin/qmake-qt4.

Using backports.org is easy. And supporting this particular piece of nonfree

Hi,

Your package (pimppa) has been detected as depending on gnome-libs,
which as per release goal, won't be shipped in lenny.

Cheers,

Bug#463964: Source package contains non-free IETF RFC/I-D

2008-02-04 Thread Simon Josefsson
Severity: serious
Package: openldap2
Version: 2.1.30.dfsg-13.5
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: nonfree-doc rfc

Hi!

This report is similar to 393403, but that bug was about other files.
Re-opening that bug for the following files seemed inappropriate. Hence
I filed a new bug.

This source package contains the following files from the
IETF under non-free license terms:

+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-legg-ldapext-component-matching-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-zeilenga-ldap-rfc2596-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-leach-uuids-guids-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-legg-ldap-admin-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-zeilenga-ldap-user-schema-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-lachman-laser-ldap-mail-routing-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-ietf-ldapext-matchedval-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-zeilenga-ldap-adlist-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-ietf-ldapext-locate-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-legg-ldap-gser-abnf-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-legg-ldap-acm-admin-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-legg-ldap-gser-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-zeilenga-ldap-features-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-zeilenga-ldap-authzid-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-zeilenga-ldap-opattrs-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-ietf-ldapext-ldap-c-api-xx.txt
+ openldap-2.1.30/doc/drafts/draft-zeilenga-ldap-t-f-xx.txt

The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:
 * http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=199810
 * http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation
 * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

The etch release policy says binary and source packages must each be free:
 * http://release.debian.org/etch_rc_policy.txt

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:
 * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

Thanks,
Simon

Bug#463961: [Evolution] Bug#463961: evolution-exchange: when configuring evolution to connect to an Exchange server, the Forward button in the Evolution Setup Assistant is always greyed

Using the same evolution-exchange version on unstable, on that screen, I have
two fields:

Username:
OWA URL:

Whatever I type in the Username: field, it's not enough for the plugin to be
configured. I have to type something in the OWA URL, and I guess I have to
check with Authenticate before continuing.

I don't have an exchange server available here so I can't help you more, but I
guess you should try to enter that url.

Cheers,

This appears to stem from a conjunction of sloppiness on upstream's
part (shipping platform-specific generated files) and increased
strictness on Debian's. AFAICT, you can work around it without having
to prepatch anything by specifying repexecdir via a command-line wildcard:

 [ ! -f Makefile ] || /usr/bin/make distclean repexecdir=/usr/lib/rep/*-*

I didn't even try this. My workaround was to repack upstream's
tarball without the generated files. Already uploaded, as
1.3.2+debian-1

Thanks for the report.

Here's a patch based on your advice. Unfortunately I can't test it,
because my Efika died. Hopefully someone else can.

Please, feel free to commit it if nobody points out a mistake. Looking
 the code, it looks fine.

I have taken the liberty of committing it because I wanted to make some
minor changes in the indentation (Robert used spaces in isinstallable for
one thing, but I also wanted to standardize existing code).

After that, please upload grub-installer ASAP so we get rid of this
 problem.

OK to upload as far as I'm concerned.

Bug#463961: [Evolution] Bug#463961: evolution-exchange: when configuring evolution to connect to an Exchange server, the Forward button in the Evolution Setup Assistant is always greyed

2008-02-04 Thread Pierre Bauduin
Well on this lenny machine, when selecting Microsoft Exchange, the only
field I get is Username

And it's indeed the same version, 2.12.2.dfsg-1+b1, both on lenny and sid...
http://packages.debian.org/evolution-exchange

This is puzzling.

What I can do is make a fresh install of lenny on some machine and try to
reproduce the problem in evolution-exchange.
I'll try to do that tonight if possible.

Cheers,

HI and thanks for your contribution,

Well yes, in the previous version of evolution-exchange in lenny, there
 was
  indeed an Authenticate button.
But there is no such button in the current version of evolution-exchange
 in
  lenny.

evolution-exchange has the same version in lenny and sid, and I have the
 two
 fields and the button here.

Maybe this is again a problem with evolution-data-server. Could you try to
pick them from unstable and test?

Anyway, with the previous lenny version, there was only one field:
 Username.

And when I clicked Authenticate, I had a segmentation fault
 everytime.

Actually with both of these problems, you do not need an Exchange server
 to
  test them :)

Well, clicking authenticate works but as I don't have a valid URL, it
 can't
 work (but doesn't segfault)

Bug#463765: debian-installer: Installer offers to install grub bootloader on PowerPC. Why?

I'm not familiar with this part; could it be that we just need to adjust
  XB-Installer-Menu-Item in yaboot-installer ?

 From installer/doc/devel/menu-item-numbers.txt:
 7000 apt-setup
  pkgsel
 7300 palo-installer (hppa)
  grub-installer (i386)
  yaboot-installer (powerpc/powermac_newworld, powerpc/chrp*)
  quik-installer (powerpc/powermac_oldworld)
  zipl-installer (s390)
  arcboot-installer (mips)
  delo-installer (mipsel)
  silo-installer (sparc)
  vmelilo-installer (m68k/vme*)
  glantank-installer (arm/iop32x)
 7500 lilo-installer (i386)
 7600 elilo-installer (ia64, i386)
 7700 nobootloader (all)

Looking at that there are two options:
 - change grub-installer from 7300 to 7400
 - change yaboot-installer from 7300 to 7200
Both will work, but not sure which is to be preferred. I guess the first
 option is most straightforward.

I agree, this seems better as it'll also handle similar situations in the
future (GRUB is extending arch support quickly ;-)).

And that would still leave powerpc/powermac_oldworld. AFAICT grub should not
be installable for that. Which also reminds me that you did not really
 address this question:
Also, if only some subarchitectures are supported, grub-installer should
at least check for those (but I'm not sure that you can check for just
  pegasos/efika).

Preferably, grub should not be offered for _any_ powerpc systems it does not
 support. Looking at libdebian-installer/src/system/subarch-powerpc-linux.c,
the only subarch where grub should be installable is powerpc/chrp_pegasos,
so it looks like this could easily be solved in grub's debian/isinstallable
 file.

Ok.

Please post patches (including changelog entry) to the list before
 committing.

Here's a patch based on your advice. Unfortunately I can't test it, because
my Efika died. Hopefully someone else can.

Anyway, if this becomes a problem we can just remove powerpc from arch list
untill someone with working hardware is willing to maintain it. I'm sorry
that I can't (the PSU didn't like Europe).
